Jordan, Iraq in positive talks to extend oil import agreement — ministry
AMMAN — Jordan has officially requested an extension of its memorandum of understanding with Iraq for the import of crude oil, according to Iman Awad, Director of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The current agreement is due to expire on June 26, 2025, according to Al Mamlaka TV. Awad said that discussions between the two sides are progressing smoothly and in a positive atmosphere, with no obstacles reported so far. She noted that the memorandum allows for annual renewal, and both countries are working constructively toward its continuation. Under the agreement, Jordanian tankers continue to transport Iraqi crude at the agreed daily rate of 10,000 barrels. The pricing is based on the monthly average price of Brent crude, with a discount of $16 per barrel to account for differences in quality and transport costs. The imported Iraqi oil represents around 7 per cent of Jordan's total oil consumption. Awad added that Jordan is responsible for providing the tanker trucks used to transport the oil from Iraq to the Jordan Petroleum Refinery in Zarqa. Arab Finance: Petrojet and a Jordanian consortium led by the Jordan National Shipping Lines Company (JNSL) have signed a $21.76 million agreement with the Jordan Petroleum Refinery, to implement a new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage project in Aqaba, as per a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Petrolem and Mineral Resources. The project includes the design, supply, and construction of two spherical LPG storage tanks, each with a capacity of 2,000 metric tons, at Jordan Petroleum Refinery's South Aqaba facilities. Jordan signs deal for LPG storage facilities
A subsidiary of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JPRC) on Tuesday signed a 15.5 million Jordanian dinars ($21 million) agreement to develop new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage infrastructure in the southern port of Aqaba for local gas distribution. The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Manufacturing and Filling Company will collaborate with a Jordanian-Egyptian joint venture comprising the Jordan National Shipping Lines Company and Egypt's Petrojet (Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company) to execute the project, the Jordan News Agency Petra reported. The project includes designing, supplying, and constructing two spherical LPG tanks, each with a capacity of 2,000 metric tonnes, to be delivered as a turnkey project within 24 said the expansion reflects the company's strategy to enhance operational readiness amid rising national demand for LPG. He added that robust energy infrastructure is essential for maintaining supply security and efficient distribution.
