Acne Studios Launches Its First Permanent Gallery in Paris
Summary
In the lead-up to Paris Fashion Week,Acne Studioshas announced the opening of Acne Paper Palais Royal, its first permanent gallery space. Nestled between the storied arcades of Palais Royal in Paris, the new venue ushers in a new era for the Swedish house, deepening its presence in art, design and publishing.
Following the recent collaborative capsule and in-store exhibition with artistJonathan Lyndon Chase, and the revival ofAcne Paperin 2021, this announcement comes as a natural next step for the Jonny Johansson-led label, who's legacy is inextricable with conceptual photography and off-body artistry.
Named after the brand's semi-annual publication, much like Acne Paper, the gallery will serve as an interdisciplinary forum for emerging and established voices making waves in their respective lanes. The space, which overlooks the lush garden complex, will host a range of rotating exhibitions, artist talks and book launches, furthering Acne Studios' commitment to creativity at large.
Acne Paper Palais Royal will open on June 26 with a solo exhibition by Dutch fashion and fine arts photographerPaul Kooiker, whose surreal captures recently graced the pages of the latestGoldenedition. The inaugural show, titled2025, will present 42 portraits of students at the Gerri Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. With a picture day-esque flair, the images capture the uncertain tension of the present often tied to life milestones.
The gallery not only affirms the brand's 'porous,' cross-cultural ethos, but pays tribute the early days of ACNE, the design and film-focused creative collective that gave rise to the house that so many know and love today. Since its founding in 1996, Acne Studios has treated fashion as just one part of a wider creative language, and with this space comes a new chapter, steadfast and true to that mission.
