Nicolle Wallace Unloads on Trump's ‘Perverted' Military Parade

MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace called out Donald Trump for 'gleefully and brazenly using troops as pawns' ahead of the big big military parade that will mark his 79th birthday Saturday, Wallace, guest-hosting Pod Save America with former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau on Friday, discussed 'the North Korean-style birthday party' Trump has 'wanted for years.' 'This is so perverted from what's normal,' Wallace said of Trump's usurping the Army's 250th birthday for his own celebration. As Trump's team reportedly screened the military members in the audience for allegiance and physical appearance ahead of his Fort Bragg speech Tuesday, Wallace wondered aloud, 'Who else is being vetted? Who else is being staged? Who else is being pushed out of the picture for being fat? I mean, what else is really happening there?' Trump's military parade is expected to take place Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET. The president's birthday celebration will cost taxpayers an estimated $45 million, but Wallace said Trump's 'perversion' of the non-partisan military will cost Americans more than just tax dollars long-term. 'I think that we probably only see the tip of the iceberg,' she said. The Fort Bragg speech, which served as a 'pre-celebration' of sorts for the president, featured men and women in uniform booing Democrats. Wallace, a former communications director for George W. Bush, reflected on the traditional separation of politics from the U.S. military. 'You and I both wrote speeches for presidents that were delivered in front of troops,' she said. 'You're cognizant that the applause lines don't have anything to do with your president's policies because you don't want them to look like they have to applaud a policymaker.' 'You craft the speeches so that there's only an applause when you're celebrating the men and women of the military, either their current courage or their historic greatness,' she continued. For Trump to have encouraged and cherry-picked uniformed military members into a divisive display of loyalty to one side is troubling, Wallace said, but not surprising. 'To see this event at Fort Bragg and to see the way they are gleefully and brazenly using troops as pawns—the greatest victim of that is the troops, is the military,' she said. 'And I think it's actually shocking that the Republican senators are complicit.' Wallace went on to express little hope that any Republican lawmakers will speak out. 'Where are the people who are still willing to sort of put their body between brazen partisanship and the military?' she asked. 'In the Republican Party, there aren't any.' 'Even the former generals are afraid to speak out, or restrained from speaking out,' Wallace said, but she maintained that she will not be keeping quiet. 'I'm not not scared. I just don't think it makes me safer to be quiet,' she explained. 'I feel that way as a cable host. I'm not not concerned that they're not looking for anyone in the media to make a mistake and then come after the media. I just don't think you're in a safer posture in a defensive crouch.'

Temuera Morrison Thinks ‘Star Wars' Isn't Done With Boba Fett Yet

Just when The Mandalorian brought him back and teased big things for him, Boba Fett got kind of a raw deal once his own show dropped. Disney's not given it a second season or even so much as mentioned it, to the point just last year, star Temuera Morrison was unsure about his character's future. But maybe things are at a point to where it could be his time once more? While promoting his current film Ka Whawhai Tonu (In The Fire of War), Collider asked Morrison what the deal was. Along with going 'where's my season 2?,' he suggested coming in for Ahsoka's second season to play an older version of Ahsoka's clone trooper buddy Rex. More interestingly, he mentioned seeing Mandalorian co-creators Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau at Star Wars Celebration, where they had a group hug and he thanked them for letting him come back as Boba Fett. Morrison then teased the pair 'didn't want to say too much, but they just left it at that.' Whatever that means, the actor likens his and the bounty hunter's stasis as going to your grandmother's and seeing 'that preservative jar of peaches up on the shelf. I'm one of those peaches, and I've been put up on the shelf. I've been preserved for a later date, and I'm going to be tastier.' To support Morrison's point, there's a few Favreau and Filoni-adjacent avenues for him to return, including another animated anthology miniseries or next year's Maul: Shadow Lord series. Even if he doesn't make it into Ahsoka's next season or whatever Mandalorian & Grogu ends up, we're likely to see the actor or Boba back sooner or later.

Jon Favreau Reportedly Developing MICKEY MOUSE Movie for Disney — GeekTyrant

It sounds like Disney may be gearing up to bring its most iconic character back to the big screen in a big way. According to a new rumor from @MyTimeToShineHello on X, Jon Favreau ( Iron Man , The Mandalorian ) might be developing a Mickey Mouse movie for the studio. While Disney hasn't confirmed anything yet, it's speculated that the movie could be a live-action adaptation, but there's no confirmation of any of this. If this turns out to be true, it's a pretty interesting move. Favreau has basically become Disney's go-to guy for reviving legacy characters and building billion-dollar franchises. He kicked off the entire MCU with Iron Man , reimagined The Jungle Book into a visually stunning hit, and turned The Lion King into a $1.6 billion global success. And of course, The Mandalorian helped reshape the Star Wars franchise, launching a whole new era of Disney+ originals. Favreau is also working on a series about Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Mickey's lesser-known predecessor. It was previously reported that Favreau is writing and producing the Oswald project as a hybrid live-action/animated show for Disney+. Walt Disney created Oswald in 1927, but after losing the rights to Universal in 1928, he came up with a new character… Mickey Mouse. That twist of fate changed animation history. So the idea of Favreau now tackling Mickey makes perfect sense. He's already neck-deep in Disney lore, and his track record of breathing new life into iconic characters is solid. There's no word yet on casting, plot, or release plans, but if this project is real, and if Favreau's at the helm, I won't be surprised if Disney turns this into a major cinematic event. Until then, it's all speculation. Stay tuned for updates, and let us know what you'd like to see from a Mickey Mouse movie? Should it be classic, experimental, or something totally unexpected?

Jon Stewart issues caution to future democratic leadership

Jon Stewart said that any future leader of the Democrat Party could be tainted by the way the left stood behind Joe Biden during his obvious decline. The comic has been out in full force this week regarding Biden, having shamed CNN on Monday for endlessly promoting a top anchor's new book about the ex-president's cognitive decline while covering his cancer diagnosis. Speaking on his The Weekly Show podcast with Pod Save America's Jon Favreau and Jon Lovett, Stewart turned his ire to Democrats who backed Biden despite his failing health. Stewart suggested it could be similar to how the Iraq War damaged the credibility of many Republicans in the lead-up to Barack Obama and many Democrats who 'paved the way' for Donald Trump . In that same manner, it could also allow the party to bring in new blood, untainted by what Lovett referred to as 'the stink' of Biden. 'It has sown the seeds for a real—and it's an opportunity for an interesting reinvention of what this Democratic Party can be,' Stewart said. 'I actually think there should be excitement, not trepidation around what this is, but it's going to come from someone outside of it. I think anybody that has any of that stink on them is not going to be particularly successful.' Lovett argued that there were larger problems, with no prominent Democrat running to stop Biden in 2024 'an indictment' and 'a lack of assuredness in their own worldview. It's not just that we need to overcome, I think, the stink,' he said, before Stewart interrupted to make a joke. 'By the way, if that is not a Democrat's slogan in 2028, something has gone terribly wrong,' Stewart quipped. 'Overcome the Stink.' If I don't have that on a bumper sticker...' Stewart, 62, earlier this week blasted CNN as '[expletive] weird' for touting the tome alongside news that Biden is battling an 'aggressive' form of prostate cancer. Ahead of the book's Tuesday release, it was plugged by co-author and CNN host Jake Tapper, Brian Stelter, and Jessica Dean - leading Stewart to call out specific sound bites. 'You will not believe what we found out,' Tapper says in one clip, while holding up a copy of his book. 'Don't news people have to tell you what they know when they find it out?' Stewart sarcastically responded, suggesting CNN had the chance to air such reporting a year ago. 'Isn't that the difference between news and a secret?' Stewart ran through plethora of other CNN clips featuring talking heads flogging the book. 'Biden's health was very much in the news even before the cancer diagnosis was announced on Sunday,' Early Start host Rahel Solomon said in a segment. 'That's because of a new book by CNN's Jake Tapper and Axios journalist Alex Thompson,' she added. The tagline was later repeated word-for-word by CNN International anchor Ben Hunte on CNN Newsroom. 'CNN's chief media analyst, Brian Stelter, looks at a controversy the book is already generating ahead of its release on Tuesday,' Hunte added, giving the floor to CNN's media reporter. Mere hours before, Stelter had appeared to question the timing of Biden's diagnosis, calling it 'extraordinary' and pointing out how it arrived on 'the same day audio clips of [Biden's] Robert Hur interview were all over the news.' 'The timing of former President Joe Biden's cancer diagnosis is certainly dramatic,' he said, speaking to Hunte and viewers in a clip also played by Stewart. 'Coming on the eve of a blockbuster new book about his health and his time in the White House. 'That book is 'Original Sin' by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson. 'The book has been getting a lot of pre-publication publicity and buzz, as well as a lot of preorders,' Stelter continued. '[It's] because of the damning new details it contains about Biden's time in office and his decision to seek reelection in 2024.' Another segment singled out by Stewart showed CNN Newsroom anchor Dean saying, 'This very tough news, this very challenging news,' while speaking on Biden's diagnosis. 'And at the same time, the backdrop of our colleague Jake Tapper's book with Alex Thompson coming out this week,' she quickly added. After showing a clip of anchor Dana Bash saying it's going to be a 'tough week' while touting the book, Stewart couldn't resist.

Stewart, 62, earlier this week blasted CNN as 'f***ing weird' for touting the tome alongside news that Biden is battling an 'aggressive' form of prostate cancer. He framed the effort as not only self-serving, but poor journalism - saying CNN had its chance to report on news of Biden's mental state before the election. The book, Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, claims to detail a distinct Democratic 'cover-up' designed to allow Biden to run again. 'It's so hard, it's such a difficult time, so unfathomable in terms of the pain his family must be feeling and yet, if you act now, you use the code 'backslash tap that book,'' he sniped. CNN stars Jessica Dean, Van Jones, and Brian Stelter all shilled for the book as well This left an incredulous Stewart to find humor in the situation. He branded the 'pivot from excitedly promoting your anchor's book to somberly and respectfully promoting your anchor's book' a failure 'Forgetting about the fact how f***ing weird it is that the news is selling you a book about news they should have told you about a year ago for free.' 'Nothing could slow down this coming, feeding news frenzy about Biden's cognitive health, other than maybe a report on his actual physical health,' he added separately. 'Doing the story seems almost disrespectful.' Stewart satirically branded it a 'pivot from excitedly promoting your anchor's book to somberly and respectfully promoting your anchor's book.'
