Dubai: Expect delays due to work on Jebel Ali-Lehbab Roads this weekend
Dubai motorists are advised to expect traffic delays on the Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road (E77) this weekend due to bridge maintenance work scheduled to take place at the intersection with the Dubai-Al Ain Road (E66). According to Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the maintenance work will begin at 12am on June 20 and will continue through 12am on June 22. The temporary road closures and diversions are expected to affect traffic flow in both directions. Key road closures: Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road overpass (E77) will be closed in both directions, with traffic redirected to the free right exits that lead onto Dubai-Al Ain Road (E66). The U-turn connecting Dubai-Al Ain Road to Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road will also be closed in both directions. Motorists are advised to use the next available exit on Dubai-Al Ain Road as an alternative route. Commuters who frequently use this route are urged to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time to avoid delays.

Nakheel awards over $204.2mln in contracts for Palm Jebel Ali infrastructure works
Nakheel, part of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has awarded three major contracts, collectively valued at over AED750 million, for infrastructure works on Palm Jebel Ali, which are scheduled for completion in Q4 2026. The contracts, awarded to DBB Contracting LLC, mark a significant milestone in the ongoing development of the landmark waterfront destination in Dubai. DBB Contracting LLC has an established track-record of working on Palm Jebel Ali, having previously been contracted to undertake other infrastructure projects on the island, including provision for public access and road construction. Setting a global benchmark in waterfront living, Palm Jebel Ali is one of Nakheel's most visionary projects, offering an exceptional breadth of lifestyle amenities that will significantly contribute to Dubai's future growth over the next few decades. Revealed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Palm Jebel Ali supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and marks the beginning of a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area, underlining the expansion of the emirate. The Spine District's infrastructure works include utility mains, connection to all utility links on the fronds and all major and secondary road construction. The scope also consists of rough grading for the DEWA power transmission line serving Palm Jebel Ali, including associated works. Spanning 13.4 kilometres, Palm Jebel Ali's seven islands feature 16 fronds and over 90 kilometres of beachfront, directly supporting the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan's commitment to expand public beach access. The development is set to establish a new standard for waterfront living with several mixed-use pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods offering panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf. Borouge and Adnoc L&S ink $531 million partnership to boost UAE petrochemical exports
Borouge and Adnoc Logistics & Services Plc have entered a 15-year strategic partnership that will support a significant increase in the production and export of petrochemicals from the UAE. The service agreement will deliver a minimum guaranteed value of $531 million (Dh1.95 billion), supporting the next phase of Borouge's accelerated growth plans, driving operational cost savings over the full contract term, realising more than $50 million in cost savings and efficiencies in the first five years alone, and enhancing the company's supply chain network. The agreement covers port management, container handling, and feeder container ship services for the Borouge Container Terminal in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi. Adnoc L&S will manage the transportation of up to 70 per cent of Borouge's annual production, which will increase significantly following the completion of the Borouge 4 plant expansion. Adnoc L&S will deploy a minimum of two dedicated container feeder ships to transport Borouge's products from Al Ruwais to the deepwater ports of Jebel Ali in Dubai and Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi. Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, CEO of Borouge, commented: 'This agreement builds on our longstanding collaboration with Adnoc L&S, a partnership that has been instrumental in meeting the evolving needs of our customers in high-growth markets. It brings significant benefits to Borouge; driving substantial operational cost savings and enhancing our Logistics Variable Cost (LVC), as well as complementing our existing rail operations and expanding the flexibility of our supply chain network. As Borouge plans to ramp up production capacity by 1.4 million tonnes per annum by the end of 2026 through its Borouge 4 mega project, Borouge will become the world's largest single-site polyolefin complex. The partnership with Adnoc L&S will further enhance Borouge's supply chain efficiency as well as reinforcing Adnoc L&S' commitment to delivering innovative, integrated supply chain solutions that enhance trade, strengthen industrial resilience, and support the UAE's vision for economic diversification and global leadership. UAE worker wins car at Eid event; 'big key' opens door to new home
When Nepali national Mukesh Paswan arrived in Dubai five months ago, he was hoping to earn some more money for the better future of his three children. On Saturday, he participated in the government-organised Eid programme and walked away the winner of a brand new Mitsubishi car. 'When they called my name, I couldn't believe it,' he told Khaleej Times. 'I had attended the event on both Friday and Saturday. I got the free raffle ticket along with a T-shirt and cap on Friday evening. Throughout the two days, I had seen others winning phones, TVs and air tickets but never imagined that I would win the grand prize.' He said he is still pinching himself to see if he had really won. 'When I woke up on Sunday morning, I wondered if it was a dream,' he said. 'But then I saw the big key. I called up my wife and conveyed the news. She was very happy.' The Eid event, held at Jebel Ali, where Mukesh participated, was part of the the activities organised by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) at 10 locations across the UAE. Held under the slogan 'Eid with Our Workers: Joy and Happiness', the celebrations included dance, music and other entertainment options, and were held at workers' compounds. Build a dream house Mukesh worked in Qatar for seven years before arriving in Dubai, looking for better opportunities; he now works as a steel fixer in Al Sahel Contracting Company. With this windfall, he hopes to realise his dream of building a house in his hometown. 'I have had land for a long time but never the funds for building a home,' he said. 'My family is living in a rented house. With the money I will get for this car, I am hoping to build a house. I also want to save something for the future of my children.' Mukesh has a 14-year-old daughter, and two sons aged 8 and 5. Mukesh said that he attended the programmes organised by Mohre on both Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr. 'Last Eid was my first time to experience this event, and I really enjoyed it,' he said. 'But I didn't know that raffle tickets were handed out. I only realised later when the winners were called out. So this time, even before I arrived, I knew I wanted to get my hands on the coupon.' Last Eid, a 24-year-old Bangladeshi painter Rubel Ali won the car and was overjoyed with his stroke of luck. He had also hoped to build a home with the money he won. He added that he and his friends enjoyed the various offerings. 'The programme was held over two days; each day for more than two hours, there were many entertainment activities,' he said. 'My friends and I really enjoyed it. It was a great way for us to spend our Eid holidays. It was also very nice to see many people winning amazing prizes. It was a completely festive mood.'
