Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardaar'-inspired advice to Punjab Kings for IPL finale wins the internet; Shiva Rajkumar backs Virat Kohli's RCB
The countdown to the IPL 2025 grand finale has cricket fans buzzing with excitement as the Royal Challengers Bengal and Punjab Kings prepare for a historic showdown. With neither team having lifted the trophy before, the final promises not just fierce competition, but also a chance for one of them to create history. Apart from the clash between fans, Bollywood and Sandalwood stars have also joined the chorus of support for their favourite sides. Actor Ajay Devgn shared a hilarious video of his character Jassi from Son of Sardaar to send an energising message to Preity Zinta 's team, Punjab Kings: 'One piece of advice from a Sardar to Punjab Kings: Childhood pants don't fit in youth, and not every no-ball gives a free hit. The one who hunts in a crowd is not a lion, but a thug. And when the opponent is strong, defeating them brings a different kind of joy. So, never miss a catch — practise holding the ball. When you hit sixes, you'll wipe the smile off the other team's faces. And if their faces fall, just say, 'Oye paaji, at least smile once in a while. ' Do the impossible. Remember — you just have to win. All the best.' The voice-over from Ajay won fans over, and they flooded the comments section with hilarious messages. Meanwhile, Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar also shared a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account to support Virat Kohli 's Royal Challengers Bengal: 'RCB is going to play the IPL final with PBKS. I wish them all the best. My heart will always be with RCB. RCB should rock — and this time, the cup is ours. Good luck. I pray to God to give RCB a lot of strength. Love you, RCB.' Filmmaker SS Rajamouli also took to X (formerly Twitter) to reflect on the emotional weight of the contest: Ajay Devgn, Son Yug, and Kumar Mangat Pathak Attend Maa Trailer Launch 'Iyer guiding Bumrah's and Boult's yorkers to the third man boundary… Exquisite… This man leads Delhi to a final… and is dropped… Leads Kolkata to a trophy… dropped… Leads a young Punjab to the finals after 11 years. He deserves this year's trophy too… On the other hand, it is Kohli… who is performing year on year… compiling thousands of runs. The final frontier for him… He deserves it too. Whatever the result… it's going to be a heartbreak…' Punjab Kings opted to bowl first after winning the toss. ‘I could have managed…': Hardik Pandya takes blame for loss vs PBKS
The MI skipper took responsibility for his side's loss in Qualifier 2 (Image via X/@mipaltan) In a thrilling clash between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians that finished at almost 2am local time, the Shreyas Iyer-led side came out on top. In a game which was pushed back by over 2 hours due to rain, tensions were high and passion overflowing as Punjab chased down a staggering 204-run target with an over to spare. Following the loss, skipper Hardik Pandya took blame for the result as he evaluated his decision-making. The 31-year-old acknowledged that he could have managed his side better. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Iyer and Co. were relentless in their pursuit, as the captain took matters into his own hands with a trailblazing 87* from 41 balls. Crucial knocks from Josh Inglis (38 off 21) and Nehal Wadhera (48 off 29) also helped the side get the better of the five-time champions in Qualifier 2. With the defeat at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai Indians' season came to an end. Who's that IPL player? Reacting to the result, Pandya said, "I'll not put it on the wicket, if we had to do something better it was to bowl right lengths, or bowl the right bowler at the right time. I'm someone who likes to take it all on me, and maybe I could have managed my troops a little better." IPL 2025 Winner Prediction: What Greenstone Lobo's Astrology says The MI captain also spoke on his side's batting display, opting to stick to the opinion that his team did well to post a 203 total on the board, even though teams averaged scores closer to 220 in Ahmedabad. "I think it was par, but it needed great execution as a bowling unit, matters in a big game, they were really calm, put us under pressure, and we couldn't execute." In contrast to the way Jasprit Bumrah was brought in against Gujarat Titans early on in the game, the 31-year-old was deployed against PBKS in the 18th over, when Punjab needed 31 off 18. "If we bowled Bumrah earlier, it might have been better, but it might have been a little too early instead. Knowing Boom, the situation even if 18 balls are left, Jassi can be Jassi and do something special. Unfortunately (it) didn't happen today," explained the captain as he reflected on the tactical decision. Poll Was the 203 total a competitive score considering the conditions? Yes, it was a good score No, it was below par It was just average With the defeat, Mumbai's season ended without a record sixth title. Punjab, meanwhile, will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the summit clash on June 3 in Ahmedabad. The winner will clinch the IPL title for only the first time.
