See which Rams players cracked CBS Sports' top-100 player list
The 2025 NFL season is quickly approaching (in a few months), which means everyone is beginning to take a hard look at the state of the league, the teams and which players will have the biggest impact on the year. CBS Sports' Pete Prisco ranked his top 100 players heading into the 2025. Three Rams made the list, but all three finished outside the top-50: Edge rusher Jared Verse (No. 54), wide receiver Puka Nacua (No. 63) and wide receiver Davante Adams (No. 91). Advertisement Verse, as a rookie in 2024, wasn't ranked. Nacua moved up three spots, though, while Adams dropped 65 spots from being Prisco's No. 26 player a year ago. Oddly enough, neither quarterback Matthew Stafford nor running back Kyren Williams made the list despite their statistical accomplishments in 2024 and predicted ability heading into the season. Prisco ranked 11 other quarterbacks and eight other running backs, which should give you and indication of where Stafford and Williams could rank in his eyes. Here's what Prisco had to say about all three Rams players on his list. No. 54 Jared Verse "Verse had 4.5 sacks as a rookie, but the pressure numbers show how dominant he can be as an edger player. He did rack up a lot of them on his way to winning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He's also good in the run game. This could be his breakout sack season." No. 63 Puka Nacua "He was limited to 12 games because of injury, yet Nacua still managed to catch 79 passes with three touchdowns. That number was down from the 105 he had as a rookie, but he did average more catches per game." No. 91 Davante Adams "Adams turns 33 in December, so age is starting to become a factor. He was never a burner, so that's a concern. But the Rams offense would seem to be perfect for how he plays. Playing for the Raiders and Jets, he still had 85 catches and eight touchdown receptions." Rams LB Jared Verse named among the unluckiest players in 2024
Rams LB Jared Verse named among the unluckiest players in 2024 Jared Verse had a tremendous rookie season for the Los Angeles Rams. He won Defensive Rookie of the Year after posting 76 pressures and established himself as one of the best young edge rushers in the league. However, Verse didn't finish with a ton of sacks. He had just 4.5 in 2024, which ranked tied for 95th in the league. His pressures, meanwhile, ranked fourth, and every other pass rusher with that amount of pressures finished with double-digit sacks. This anomaly is why Kevin Patra named Verse one of the unluckiest players in 2024. Patra wrote that Verse's 5.9% sack conversion rate was the lowest in the NFL among 72 edge rushers with at least 250pass rush snaps this past season. Verse was aware of what he did and didn't do as a rookie, and admitted he left "around 10 sacks on the field" in 2024. 'Yeah, I was doing a lot of things but I probably left around 10 sacks on the field just from, 'Hey, a little too inside. A little too this, a little too that. Not taking the extra step,'" Verse told ESPN's Adam Schefter in early June. "And looking at that, I'm like, 'Damn, that's not happening no more so the things I can do now is a whole different conversation.'" The hope for Verse and the Rams is that he takes the extra step and converts those pressures into sacks. The rest of the defensive line did after Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner and Byron Young combined for 24 sacks. Another offseason to develop will do Verse wonders, as well as working out with Aaron Donald.

Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse thinks he can play a lot better in Year Two
Rams outside linebacker Jared Verse was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year last season, but he's not even close to satisfied. Verse said that he watched his tape from last season and was dismayed to see how many big plays he could have made and didn't. He thinks he can be better than he was when rushing the quarterback, better than he was when dropping into coverage, and better than he was against the run. 'The biggest thing I realized was how many sacks — and not even just sacks but big plays — I missed out on,' Verse said, via 'Dropping in coverage, I could have done this; or rushing the pass, I could have done that. Even in the run game a couple of times, there were things where I'm a little too far inside, I'm a little too far outside, and I could have made a big impact play. So realizing that this really is a game of inches — whether it's just stopping the ball or actually just doing your job — there's a couple of things I could've done better.' Verse said an NFL veteran he didn't name was the person who reached out to him and told him that if he wants to be one of the great ones, he needs to watch his own tape with a critical eye. 'I feel more prepared than I've ever been because you get the whole offseason — you get time to work on this, that, and the third,' Verse said. 'I had one of the alumni at Florida State who reached out to me — he played in the NFL for a long time — he told me the number one thing I should do is watch all of my past film, unsolicited. [Not just] trying to be high on myself and only watch the good plays, watch more of the bad plays than the good and realize what I could work on. I did that, and I feel more prepared than I've ever been.' An even better Jared Verse in Year Two would be great for the Rams, and a major concern for every team on the Rams' schedule.
