A study from the Department of Psychology at Illinois State University compared dogs with hearing and/or vision impairments (HVI) to those with normal hearing and vision (NHV), using owner-reported behavior surveys. It found that, while HVI dogs tend to be calmer—showing less aggression, excitement, and inclination toward typical behaviors like chasing animals or rolling in feces—they may also be more prone to challenges such as chewing inappropriate objects, excessive barking, licking, and eating feces. Training methods also differ, with HVI dog owners more likely to use hand signals or physical cues, while NHV dog owners often rely on simple gestures or no formal commands. Janssen addressed the worries in the comments, explaining that the dog has a shed with air conditioning to rest in during hotter weather. "Everyone is so concerned but doesn't realize there are dogs literally chained in a yard with no food or water," one commenter wrote. "I've raised huskies all my life, in Florida mind you, and they've lived happy full lives. All my huskies have wanted to sunbathe every day. They're adaptable animals. This husky is loved and cared for." Another viewer highlighted the joy in Mama Nikita's reaction: "The way she said 'hi momma,'" to which Janssen responded, "She always has a smile on her face." Battling Nuggets fade again in final stretch
See previous match reports. They are basically all the same this season. The Otago Nuggets battled hard then faded in the final stretch against [insert name]. Last night it was Nelson Giants who pulled away late to record a 94-82 victory on their home court to help keep their playoff prospects alive. It was the Nuggets' 12th consecutive loss. They only have 35 minutes of good basketball in the tank it seems. The game was in the balance with five minutes to play. The Nuggets had closed to within two points. But they have struggled to keep their composure or match the intensity their opponents have been able to bring when the game has been on the line. The Giants pushed the ball inside to Jeremy Combs for some easy points and they eased away to win by 12. The American power forward bagged a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Hayden Jones (19 points) hit some clutch shots. Alex Robinson jun joined in with 11 assists, and Andrew Jones added 17 points. Jonathan Janssen led the way for the Nuggets with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Don Carey jun (22 points, eight assists) faded in and out of the game as he does. He was brilliant in patches and invisible in others. Janssen opened the scoring from the free throw line after he strolled past Callum McRae and picked up the foul. Matthew Bardsley drilled a rare three to stun the home team. He seldom takes shots from that range but was left all alone, so he went for it. There were not too many other highlights in the first quarter for the Nuggets. Combs weaved his way to the basket for a bucket despite the Nuggets assigning two defenders. Fellow American Andrew Jones popped in a three-pointer to give the Giants a five-point lead midway through the first. Sam Dempster hit a late three to extend the gap to 25-15 at the end of the period. Carey was rewarded for some hustle early in the second. He cut to the hoop, got the basket and added the extra for the foul. He picked off a steal, lobbed in a step-back three-pointer and threaded a couple of lovely assists through to Josh Aitcheson and Jaylen Sebree. Carey erased all of the margin almost single-handedly in a 14-4 run. Janssen swung in a hook shot to help his side edge in front briefly. But Hayden Jones hit a mid-range jumper to snatch a 43-41 lead at halftime. Andrew Jones swatted away a three-point shot from Sebree and he enjoyed that. So did the crowd. He tossed up an alley-oop to Combs moments later and he slammed it down. McRae proved an easy target under the rim and he dropped a couple more into the cup to help give the Giants a 69-60 lead with 10 minutes remaining. The Nuggets clawed their way back once again. Janssen popped it through the strings for three to lift his tally into the 20s. They pinned the margin back to two points midway through the final stretch. But the drought-breaking victory slipped away leaving only a strong sense of deja vu. The Giants won the Rapid League game 38-26. Women rated their relationship satisfaction highest if they had sex at least once a week, with 85 per cent pleased with their lot. Study author Alexandra Janssen, from the University of Manchester, said: 'Women having sex less than once a week were far less likely to be satisfied in their sexual relationships. "Therapists working with women to improve their sexual relationship satisfaction might focus on increasing the frequency of sex.' The study questioned 483 women in New Zealand who had been in a relationship within the past year. Results showed that satisfaction was higher if they had sex more often, had more orgasms, rated sex as an important aspect of their life and were younger. Writing in the International Journal of Sexual Health, Ms Janssen said: 'Sexual intimacy plays an important role in romantic relationships. 'In our study, less frequent sex was associated with a lower likelihood of sexual relationship satisfaction. Women who reported having sex one to two times a month were approximately three times less likely to be satisfied than those having sex two or more times a week. The benefits of having sex 'This effect was even more pronounced for women who reported having sex less than once a month, who were 25 times less likely to be satisfied.' Women aged 18 to 24 were most likely to be sexually satisfied and over-45s least likely. Those who rated sex as very important also had happier love lives than those who did not. Ms Janssen said: 'It seems unlikely that low self-rated importance of sex causes low sexual satisfaction. That may cause women to rate the importance of sex as low as a coping strategy.'

Janssen relishing bigger role with Nuggets
Jonathan Janssen has a chance to rewrite the script with the Otago Nuggets. Previously he got to hang out on the wing and toss up a few three-pointers. But the departure of import Jose Perez has meant the one-game Tall Black has had to step up and step into the paint. It is not exactly a new role for the 30-year-old. The 2.06m forward has always had the ability to mix it up on the inside. But he has been viewed as an outside shooter and that was what the Nuggets brought him in to do. "I think, in a sense, I'm still kind of doing the same thing that I was doing, I'm just doing it more. "Jose was an inside-based post kind of playing guy. So that allowed me to stretch the floor. "And now with him gone, it now requires more of a post presence for us. So, you know, just kind of stepping up to that." That means he has been setting more screens and rolling towards the hoop. His hook shot has proved quite productive. He had his best game in the 98-92 defeat to the Hawke's Bay Hawks in Dunedin late last month. He poured in 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. It was not enough for the Nuggets to post a breakthrough win, though. They are on a 10-game losing streak and host the Taranaki Airs at the Edgar Centre tonight. The visitors are well-placed to make the playoffs, whereas the Nuggets are playing for pride at this point in the season. It is a tough assignment but Janssen said the team was focused on improving. "I think we've shown really great improvements over the last three games since Jose's departure. "I think that we're playing good team basketball, and in two out of the three games we were actually up. "If you look at the Saints game, it was a three-point game with 50 seconds left." The Nuggets have certainly left some potential wins out on the court. They have lacked composure in the key moments. "We're up there competing with every single team and we know that we can do that. It's just going to come down to the end of the game and locking in when it matters most." Janssen was born in South Africa but spent his early years living in Auckland. His family moved to Queensland when he was 13. Janssen played college basketball in the United States. He had a stint with the Cleveland State Vikings before transferring to Hawaii Pacific. He had a professional gig in Kosovo and was preparing for a second season with the Canterbury Rams when Covid arrived. He played one game for the Tall Blacks during the pandemic. He joined a bunch of Australian-based New Zealanders for the fixture. Janssen has also had two seasons in Luxembourg, and also suited up for the Hawks in 2021 and played from the bench. He was sidelined with a foot injury last year and missed some games for the Nuggets at the start of the 2025 campaign while his foot was healing. But since returning, he has cemented himself in the starting side and his role has expanded with the exit of Perez. He has embraced the opportunity to have the ball in his hands more often. "I think everyone enjoys that, right? "I think I'm a good decision-maker ... which helps the guys and helps get other guys really good looks too. "In a sense, we've been playing really great team basketball and putting me in that position has helped that as well." VC company HealthKois plans $400 million fund for healthcare play
HealthKois , a Delhi-based growth stage venture capital fund, plans to roll out a $400-million fund to invest in India's healthcare sector. The fund intends to target companies in AI-led healthtech , medtech, biopharma, healthcare delivery and climate health , its managing partner Charles Janssen told ET in an exclusive interaction. "We have started raising this fund from LPs (limited partners). Our LPs are split between Asia, Europe, and the US," Janssen said. HealthKois is aiming at a first close at the end of this year or early 2026. The investments will be deployed over the next four years, with ticket size of each of the investments likely in the range of $7 million to $25 million. "We are looking at a $300 million fund with a green shoe option of another $100 million," said Ajay Mahipal, partner at HealthKois.
