Jordan: Government launches review of local administration Laws in Line with reform agenda
AMMAN — The government said on Thursday that it has initiated a series of meetings this month to review and advance legislation related to local administration, in line with the Royal Letter of Designation and the policy statement of Prime Minister Jafar Hassan's Cabinet. The Subcommittee on Local Administration, part of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System, convened to review recommendations outlined in the political modernisation blueprint. The discussions aim to ensure coherence with the Public Sector Modernisation Roadmap and the Economic Modernisation Vision, according to a statement from the Prime Ministry. Holiday announced on June 26th to mark Hijri New Year - Jordan News
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan announced on Tuesday an official holiday on Thursday, June 26th, to mark the Hijri New Year. The decision was communicated through an official notice, which states that all ministries, official agencies, institutions, public universities, municipalities, joint service councils and entities fully owned by the government will be closed on June 26th. اضافة اعلان The holiday excludes ministries, departments and institutions whose work requires continuous operation. Jordan announces public holiday on June 26 for Islamic New Year
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has announced that Thursday, June 26, 2025 — corresponding to the first of Muharram, 1447 Hijri — will be an official public holiday in observance of the Islamic New Year. According to an official circular issued on Tuesday, all ministries, public institutions, government-owned companies, universities, municipalities, joint service councils, and the Greater Amman Municipality will suspend work on the day. Exceptions will apply to institutions whose nature of work requires otherwise. The Prime Minister also called on all public bodies to contribute to highlighting the significance of the Islamic New Year and to mark the occasion in a manner befitting its importance.

Gov't provides care for 4.1 million Jordanians at KHCC, at cost of JD124mln
Ammon News - The government announced Monday the allocation of JD124 million from the general budget to insure 4.1 million Jordanians at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). The new government insurance at the King Hussein Cancer Center includes those under the age of 19 and everyone over the age of 60, regardless of their condition. Minister of State for Economic Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh said the cancer insurance agreement is a first step towards comprehensive health insurance. Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan and Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal witnessed the signing of an agreement between the government and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center to begin implementing the center's new insurance program starting January 1, 2026.
