Texas A&M fans celebrate Jace LaViolette's historic college career
Texas A&M fans celebrate Jace LaViolette's historic college career It's unofficially official that Texas A&M junior outfielder Jace LaViolette's playing days in the Maroon & White have ended. With him projected as a top-15 pick, MLB is calling his name, and he hears it loud and clear, posting his farewell message to Aggieland on social media. We all knew this day was coming. Even with hope that NIL deals could persuade him to stay, the writing was on the wall after his breakout freshman year, his draft entry was inevitable. So, it's best to wish him well and cherish the memorable moments he gave fans over three years. The All-American leaves A&M as the career leader in home runs (68), walks (169), and ranks third in RBIs (202). Even after a challenging season, he finished the year on his terms. After suffering a broken hand from a pitch in the SEC tournament, he could've easily shut it down without second thoughts. However, he fought through the pain, returned the next day, and collected a few hits against a strong LSU pitching staff. For the extremely optimistic Aggie fans, there's a .01% chance LaViolette has a change of heart, declines his MLB contract, and returns to A&M. Anything can happen, but for now, we wish Jace a successful and healthy pro career. Below are some of the reactions to Jace LaViolette's farewell post to Texas A&M fans. Jace will be missed One of the best to ever do it Thanks for the good times Jace It's going to take a lot to make Jace miss a game The talent was undeniable from the beginning Aggie legend Lord Tubbington set the standard for the new generation of Aggies MLB Bound Proud Jace decided to join the Aggie family No. 17 rewrote the record books There is not a dry eye on X Jace won't be forgotten anytime soon Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions. ROMCON: Who the F**k is Jason Porter? OTT Release Date - When and where to watch chilling true crime documentary
ROMCON: Who the F**k is Jason Porter? OTT Release Date - It starts like every modern love story: a meet-cute on a dating app, charming texts, weekend getaways, and whispered dreams about forever. But what Heather Rovet didn't know was that she wasn't dating a man. She was dating a mirage - a con, a criminal, a chameleon. ROMCON: Who the F**k is Jason Porter? is the two-part docuseries that dares to ask the question every ghosted, gaslit, and gutted dater has wondered at least once: Who the f**k was I really talking to? This is a true crime documentary starting to stream from June 13 on Prime Video. This isn't catfish. This is war. Heather Rovet is not your typical victim. She's a successful real estate broker in Toronto. Smart, self-made, fiercely independent. So when she fell for a guy named 'Jace,' a laid-back handyman who seemed oddly perfect, she thought she'd finally hit the dating jackpot. For three whole years, she believed the fantasy: texts, cuddles, birthday cakes, the works. But the fairy tale cracks wide open when she discovers 'Jace' isn't Jace. He's Jason Porter, a man with a rap sheet long enough to wrap around the CN Tower. He's been in and out of jail, and the name he gave her? Completely fake. If this were a movie, you'd scream at the screen. But this is real. And Heather isn't staying silent. Real love, real lies and real consequences What makes ROMCON hit different is that it's not just about Heather finding out the truth. It's about what she does next. The woman grabs a metaphorical detective's badge and goes on a hunt, not just for Jason, but for the other women he's duped. Spoiler: there are a lot. Across two unflinching episodes, we watch her build a case. She pieces together his lies, talks to other victims, and lays bare a trail of emotional devastation that spans provinces. And the worst part? Jason Porter isn't some shadowy monster. He's a smiling, beer-drinking, boy-next-door. That's what makes this terrifying. Directed by Henry Roosevelt (The Vow, Take Care of Maya) and produced by Blink49 Studios, the series is backed by Amazon MGM Studios. Watch ROMCON: Who the F**k is Jason Porter? then maybe… delete that dating app for a while.

Toronto family ‘devastated' after 3 kids killed in alleged drunk driving crash
The family of three Toronto children who were killed in an alleged drunk driving crash says they are 'utterly devastated' as they plan a funeral for the victims later this month. Ramone Lavina, 15, his younger brother Jace, 13, and their six-year-old sister Mya died in a collision on May 18 that Toronto police allege was caused by an impaired teen driver. The family's lawyer confirmed a publication ban on the children's identities was lifted on Thursday. Police have said the crash happened shortly after midnight at the eastbound off-ramp at Renforth Drive and Highway 401. They said a 19-year-old behind the wheel of a Dodge Caravan was allegedly speeding as he exited the highway, lost control, went over a raised median and slammed into a Chrysler Pacifica minivan that was stopped at a red light. Inside the minivan were a mother, her four children and a male acquaintance of the family, police said. The Lavina-Galve family said they are reeling from the 'unimaginable tragedy,' and they thanked the first responders, hospital staff and community members who have provided support. 'Although we remain utterly devastated, we are now in the process of planning the funeral for our three dear children, which is something no parent should ever have to endure,' the family said in a statement through their lawyer. An online obituary says a funeral for the children is scheduled for June 14. Police said 19-year-old Ethan Lehouillier of Georgetown, Ont., was arrested at the scene of the crash and faces 12 charges, including three counts of impaired driving causing death and three counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm. The allegations have not been tested in court. Jim Cantos, a family friend, said in an interview after the crash that the Lavina siblings were 'tight-knit.' He said he's known the Lavina family for years — the children's father, Maverick Lavina, is an old friend of his sister's, and they went to high school together. Story continues below advertisement 'The kids were very respectful,' said Cantos, who coached Ramone at Toronto Future Phenom, a basketball training program in Scarborough. 'Whenever Ramone came to practice, his siblings were there as well, cheering him on. I believe they did everything together.' Cantos said the Lavinas are Filipino Canadian and he'd heard from many in the community who are shaken by the news. He said the family is well-liked in the community. 'The Filipino community is hit hard by this,' he said, adding it's been a tough time for Filipino Canadians, especially after the late April tragedy at a Filipino street festival in Vancouver, where 11 people were killed after an SUV rammed into a crowd. 'Filipinos, we move as a group… We are very tight family-wise and community-wise,' said Cantos. 'No parent wants to go through something as tragic as burying their own kid. That's something that a kid does to their parents, not the other way around.'

Publication ban lifted for 3 siblings killed in crash with alleged drunk driver in Toronto
A publication ban covering the identities of the three siblings who died in a crash involving a suspected impaired, speeding driver has been lifted at the request of Crown prosecutors. On Thursday, an Ontario court removed the ban which had previously forbidden the naming of 15-year-old Ramone, 13-year-old Jace and six-year-old Mya Laviña-Galve. The family of the children has indicated the funeral service is planned for June 13 and 14. The three siblings died in the early hours of Sunday, May 18, after their family car was struck while waiting at a red light by an allegedly drunk driver coming off Highway 401 in Etobicoke. At the time, Toronto police said a Chrysler Pacifica was sitting at a red light on Renforth Drive when a speeding Dodge Caravan, leaving Highway 401, lost control and collided with the minivan. Story continues below advertisement Two of the siblings were killed in the crash, and a third died in hospital. The only surviving child and their mother were both taken to hospital and expected to make a recovery. They said the mother — also named Jace — remembered the details of the crash clearly. 'She remembers everything pretty vividly, she remembers the car coming so fast towards them,' they said. Another cousin said, 'She thought it was a dream, she can't imagine this car going this fast, this can't be real.' The family requested the publication ban be lifted, court heard. A GoFundMe set up for the family has surpassed $230,000 in contributions. 'The Laviña-Galve Family, a family that is so core to our community, now needs our support during this incredibly difficult time,' the GoFundMe read. Story continues below advertisement We humbly request your assistance to help them navigate this dark period be it through donation or spreading awareness for them. Additionally, we ask for your prayers, that the grieving family may find strength, hope, and the courage to overcome this heart-wrenching tragedy.' The 19-year-old accused of causing the crash and driving impaired appeared briefly in court on Thursday. Ethan Lehouillier, from Georgetown, was arrested at the scene of the crash. He was charged with three counts of both impaired driving causing death and of dangerous driving causing death. In total, Lehouillier faces 12 charges. His lawyer said he would not seek bail.
