JSCA president Ajay Nath Shahdeo, Vice President Sanjay Pandey, Secretary Saurabh Tiwari, Treasurer Amitava Ghosh were in attendance at the event. Dhoni was joined by Australian batting great Matthew Hayden, South African duo Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla, and former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori as five men's cricketers were added to the list. Also inducted into the elite group were former England wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Taylor and ex-Pakistan captain Sana Mir. The ICC praised Dhoni as a player who excelled not just in numbers but also in 'extraordinary consistency, fitness, and longevity". Dhoni, who led India to the T20 World Cup win in 2007, the ODI World Cup victory in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013, said in a statement shared by ICC: 'It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. He also captained India to a Champions Trophy triumph in is widely regarded as one of the most successful captains in white-ball cricket history. Renowned for his calm leadership and unorthodox style, he redefined the role of wicketkeeper-batsman in Indian retired from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni has continued to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Two former India cricketers Saurabh Tiwary and Shahbaz Nadeem have been elected as secretary and joint secretary of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). Tiwary, who was team mate of Virat Kohli, during India Under 19 playing days represented India in three ODIs when MS Dhoni was captain, whereas Nadeem played two Test matches in 2019 and 2021. Both the players retired in 2024. 'There was a group here who approached me and Saurabh asking us to stand for the elections. They wanted us to guide Jharkhand cricket. Initially, I was in two minds but after giving it a thought we decided to contest the elections. This state has made us cricketers and we have played here for the last 25 years. Now it has given us a chance to be cricket administrators. We feel we can contribute,' Nadeem told The Indian Express. Nadeem, a former left-arm spinner, said being active cricketers till recently ensured they were in touch with the game. 'Development of cricket is key. We have a good talent pool and they can do well. We will try to implement our plans,' Nadeem added. Tiwary, a hard-hitting batsmen with Dhoni-like locks, played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers of Bangalore. However, despite being tipped for big things his international career didn't take off. Nadeem has 542 first class wickets. He has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils and Lucknow SuperGiants.

Shahdeo's team with 2 former int'l players sweeps JSCA polls

Ranchi: The team led by Congress leader on Sunday swept the polls of the Tired of too many ads? go ad free now (JSCA) held to elect office bearers and managing committee members of the apex cricketing body in the state. The voting was held amid elaborate security arrangements at the JSCA stadium. Shahdeo won the president's post, beating Jamshedpur-based businessman S K Behara. Sanjay Pandey, a team member of Shahdeo, was elected as vice-president along with as honorary secretary, Amitava Ghosh as treasurer and as joint secretary. Notably, Saurabh and Nadeem are former international cricket players. The winners for the managing committee are Parvez Khan, Ramesh Kumar, Sanjay Jain, Mihir Pritesh Topno and Ratnesh Kumar Singh. Further, D Uma Maheshwar Rao was elected as representative of the affiliated members, while Birendra Kumar Pathak, Shreeram Puri, Raghwendra Narayan Singh and Uttam Kumar Biswas were elected as representatives from the affiliated districts. Speaking to media persons after the results, Shahdeo thanked all voters who supported his team, which he said comprised players, umpires, scorers and people who love cricket. "The blessings of the former JSCA chairman, late Amitabh Choudhary, were also with our team. We will improve cricket facilities all over the state with the help of the govt. The state's premier cricket league would also be started so that talented players get the platform to show their skills. We will also aim to improve the state's performance in domestic tournaments," he added.
