Govt school student secures IIT-M seat with help from NIT-T coaching club
Trichy: R Muhilraj, a student of Arignar Anna Government Higher Secondary School in Pachaperumalpatti village, Thuraiyur, has secured admission to the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering programme at IIT Madras after cracking JEE Advanced 2025 with an All India Rank (AIR) of 1,751. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now His achievement was supported by IGNITTE, the student-run teaching club of the National Institute of Technology, Trichy (NIT-T), which offers free coaching and mentorship to underprivileged students. Muhilraj had earlier secured admission to NIT Silchar based on his JEE Mains 2024 score. Encouraged by IGNITTE mentors, he attempted JEE Advanced after improving his percentile to 95.88 through focused vacation coaching and one-on-one mentoring. IGNITTE selects 20 students each from Trichy and Tirunelveli districts every year through a screening test and interview process, offering them coaching for competitive exams and career guidance.

T.N. government school student clears JEE Advanced, gets into IIT-Madras
R. Muhilraj, a student who has been under the guidance of IGNITTE teaching club of National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi (NIT-T), has gained admission in the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering course at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. In April, Mr. Muhilraj, a student of Arignar Anna Government Higher Secondary School at Pachaperumalpatti village, Thuraiyur, had secured admission into NIT Silchar in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (EIE) through JEE Mains 2024, scoring 91.23 percentile. According to an official release, he was encouraged to attempt the JEE Advanced to try for admission into Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with extra coaching from IGNITTE. With the help of IGNITTE mentors and special classes during the vacation, Muhilraj qualified for JEE Advanced by securing 95.88 percentile in this year's JEE Mains and achieved an All India Rank of 1751, earning him a seat in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras. IGNITTE is a team of NIT-T students who train economically disadvantaged students for competitive entrance exams and help them analyse career opportunities. Over 400 senior school-goers participate annually in the screening tests organised in collaboration with the district administration of Tiruchi and Tirunelveli. At the end of the two-day process, which includes a written test followed by a personal interview, only 20 students from each district have been selected for the coaching programme.

Tamil Nadu village school student overcomes odds to get IIT-Bombay aerospace seat
Yogeswari, a student from a government school in a village in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district, has secured admission to Aerospace Engineering at IIT-Bombay,Her transformation from not knowing what Aerospace Engineering was to securing a seat at the prestigious institution reflects remarkable determination. Yogeshwari studies at Padanthal Government School in Sathur village, her father works in a tea stall while her mother works in a firecracker her, the breakthrough came via Chief Minister MK Stalin's flagship programs 'Naan Mudhalvan' scheme and 'Kalluri Kanavu' scheme, which provide introductions to various college courses and guide students with applying and preparing for competitive exams. Yogeswari did not know what the JEE exam was until she attended these programs. 'When I attended a program, they told me about JEE and how to apply. I passed JEE Mains and then they took me for JEE Advance Coaching. At first it was a bit difficult as it was in English but with time I studied and cleared JEE Advance. I'm happy that I have got admission in Aerospace Engineering at IIT-Bombay,' Yogeswari credited District Collector VP Jeyaseelan's for introducing her to higher education opportunities and JEE application processes. The programs provided crucial guidance on exam preparation that enabled her success. 'Naan Mudhalvan and Kalluri Kanavu programs were organised by District Collector Jeyaseelan and through that I got to know about higher education and how to apply for them. They helped me with applying for JEE and how to study for it because of which I was able to clear the exam.'advertisementShe thanked Chief Minister MK Stalin and District Collector Jeyaseelan, who has assured continued support for her higher education, calling these schemes a boon for children from poor economic backgrounds. She wants to achieve in aerospace technology like her role models Sunita Williams and Kalpana Chawla.

Aryabhatta students rekindle academic excellence
Berhampur: In yet another year of resounding academic triumph, the students of Aryabhatta Learning Forum, Berhampur, have upheld their 14-year-long tradition of exceptional performance in the prestigious NEET, JEE Mains and Advanced entrance examination this year. The recently declared results have once again etched a tale of glory, determination and educational excellence. Out of the 123 aspiring students trained at the institute, an impressive 22 have secured ranks that pave their way into Odisha's coveted government medical colleges. This exceptional ratio not only highlights the academic rigour of the institution but also reinforces its legacy of quality and consistent success. Among the shining stars, Ritik Rath, has emerged as the highest scorer with 587 marks, achieving an All-India Rank of 2600 and a category rank of 196. Additionally, over 21 students have scored above 510, marking a significant academic milestone. In a proud display of inclusive excellence, three students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories have also made commendable achievements. Many of the successful candidates have simultaneously qualified in other national-level entrance examinations, underscoring the comprehensive preparation provided at the institute. Notably, students from economically weaker sections have once again proved their mettle, thanks to the guidance and support provided by the institution. The success saga doesn't end with NEET. In the previously published JEE Mains results, 15 out of 32 students qualified successfully, and 3 out of 7 students cleared the JEE Advanced—opening doors to the nation's premier engineering institutions. Some students, including Muskan Patnaik and others, have achieved remarkable marks both in NEET and JEE Mains. Director Sudhir Raut, along with faculty and mentors, extended heartfelt congratulations to the achievers. They expressed confidence that these students will not only fulfil the dreams of their parents but also serve society with distinction and bring laurels to the region in the times ahead.
