A lot of discontent in the BJP, no one is happy, says Yatnal
There is a lot of discontent in the BJP in State . No one is happy. The only way to fix it is by removing B.Y. Vijayendra from the post of the State president, Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal, MLA who was expelled from the BJP, said in Vijayapura on Friday. 'The State unit of the BJP is in the Intensive Care Unit. There is no proper coordination with the alliance partner JD(S). All the leaders are sold out. Instead of acting as active leaders of a responsible opposition party, they are acting as per the wishes of the ruling party leaders, he told reporters. He said that the State leaders were trying to present a false picture of the state unit's activities before the central leaders, while betraying the common party workers,' he said. According to him, Mr. Vijayendra was responsible for this State of the party. 'Many senior leaders are acting as per the directions of Congress leaders. Mr. Vijayendra seeks the permission of Minister Priyank Kharge before visiting Kalaburagi. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar are keeping the opposition inactive, by threatening Mr. Yediyurappa and Mr. Vijayendra of filing or proceeding with criminal cases against them. At least now, senior leaders like Amit Shah should understand that the BJP can not depend on Mr. Yediyurappa or his family members for ever,' he said. He criticised the Congress government in the State as an anti-Hindu government. 'If Mr. Siddaramaiah is allowed to be Chie Minister for the next three years, he will turn Karnataka into a Kerala or a West Bengal. Unfortunately, the State BJP is not raising its voice against such actions by the Congress,' Mr. Yatnal said.

Karnataka High Court orders interim stay on land grab probe against Union minister Kumaraswamy
A single-judge bench of Justice ES Indiresh passed the order acting on a petition filed by the JD(S) leader that asked for the cancellation of the government order for the investigation, as well as a declaration that all subsequent action by revenue authorities would be illegal. It also requested an interim stay on the January 28 government order. The petition has also argued that there are certain issues with the validity of the investigation, such as the absence of an official notification for the government order that instituted the SIT. The SIT has been set up to investigate alleged land encroachment by Kumaraswamy and several others in Ramanagara district. On account of a lack of documents for original land grants, the revenue authorities had identified certain land as being government property, including 14 acres supposedly owned by the JD(S) leader in Kethiganahalli near the Bidadi area in Ramanagara. The matter came to light in 2014 when former Mandya MP G Madegowda filed a complaint alleging encroachment on government land valued over Rs 130 crore by Kumaraswamy, his aunt, and a former MLA and relative, D C Thamanna. Based on a 2020 high court petition filed by an NGO regarding the issue, the government had earlier undertaken to recover the public land that had been encroached. The government informed the court on January 29 that the five-member SIT, based on the government order of the previous day, would investigate six survey numbers in Bidadi hobli. (A hobli is a subdivision of a taluk). As previously reported by Kumaraswamy told reporters in February in Hassan, 'I informed the principal secretary, 'Look, this is not government land, it is my personal property. How can you come without issuing a notice? I bought this land 40 years ago. If you wish to survey it, first issue me a notice as the rightful owner'.'

According to sources, MLAs of Chikkaballapura and Kolar region met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and told him to hold the Cabinet meeting at Nandi Hills only if the government was ready with a big financial package to the region, like it had announced projects to the Kalaburagi and Mysuru region by holding Cabinet meetings in those regions in the recent past. The MLAs reportedly opposed the Cabinet meeting with a routine agenda. Public demand MLAs have reportedly told the Chief Minister that it was difficult for them to answer to the public if the Cabinet did not make any big announcement to the region after holding the meeting at Nandi Hills. Meanwhile, environmentalists had been opposing the Cabinet meeting at the Hills on the possible damage to the ecology. Prominent environmentalists, legal experts, and social activists came together at an event organised by World Human Rights Service Foundation on Tuesday in Bengaluru demanding that the ecologically sensitive area be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a biodiversity conservation zone. They also opposed the proposed ropeway construction at Nandi Hills. Former Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) chairperson and noted environmentalist A.N. Yellappa Reddy also highlighted the plastic crisis on the Hills. Mango growers' demands Also, reports suggested that the government was afraid of the mango growers' protest as they had planned to stage a protest at Nandi Hills during the Cabinet meeting, under the leadership of the JD(S). The government is facing the heat of mango growers of Chickballapur and Kolar districts, as they were demanding the MSP of ₹15,000 per quintal for their produce. Amid uncertainty over alliance with BJP, JD(S) sets out to strengthen party machinery
Bengaluru: JD(S) has launched a state-wide organisational revival drive as doubts swirl around its alliance with BJP in Karnataka. In a strategic move, JD(S) kicked off an ambitious online membership campaign on Sunday, aiming to enrol 50 lakh new members by Aug 15. As part of the campaign, JD(S) youth wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy began a state tour on Monday from Tumakuru, focusing first on southern Karnataka districts — considered the Vokkaliga heartland — in a bid to consolidate the party's core support base. The heightened political activity in JD(S) comes amid rising tension within BJP over the future of the alliance. The two parties, which had earlier jointly taken on the Congress-led govt, have recently conducted separate agitations — notably over price rise and the M Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede incident, where they refrained from presenting a united front. While both parties have confirmed they will contest upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat polls separately, a section of BJP functionaries is pushing to sever ties entirely ahead of the next assembly elections. "BJP is strong enough to defeat Congress on its own," said Sakaleshpur legislator S Manjunath, popularly known as Cement Manju. "An alliance with JD(S) could deny us a clear mandate." But JD(S) functionaries insist an alliance is crucial to challenge Congress' dominance in the state. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why Walgreens Hides This Cheap 87¢ Generic Cialis Health Alliance by Friday Plans Undo Former MLC and party election coordinator KA Tippeswamy said the alliance primarily targets assembly and parliamentary polls and would continue for the next assembly election as well. "Our party brass has decided to leave it to district functionaries to decide on a tie-up for ZP and TP elections," he said. Speaking at the launch of the membership drive, JD(S) state president and Union minister HD Kumaraswamy dismissed rumours of a rift. "The alliance is intact. Vested interests are even spreading canards about my health. Those spreading rumours about the fragility of the alliance or about my health will be proven wrong. We will present a united front to defeat Congress," Kumaraswamy said. Sources indicate BJP's central leadership is in favour of the alliance, given growing concerns about internal cohesion and the party's struggle to consolidate Vokkaliga votes. They point out that while BJP state president BY Vijayendra faces resistance from some factions, a significant section of BJP members, especially from the Vokkaliga community, view the partnership with JD(S) as vital. Former deputy chief minister and senior BJP legislator CN Ashwath Narayan echoed this sentiment, saying, "Our mission is to oust this corrupt and incompetent govt and ensure a Congress-mukt Karnataka. We will do whatever is necessary, and our high command will take a final call on the alliance and election strategy."
