Nashik : Central Railway's Bhusawal division has unveiled a newly renovated ladies-only waiting hall 'Shanti Alay' at Platform No. 1 of the station , with focus on improving passenger amenities "As part of enabling the upgradation and maintenance of passenger facilities, the railway authorities transformed an existing space and customised it exclusively for women passengers, offering a safe, clean, and thoughtfully designed area that embodies both comfort and convenience," said Ity Pandey, the Divisional Railway Manager. The waiting hall was developed into an all-pink theme to reflect warm, feminine, and welcoming ambiance for women travellers. "The idea is to give clean, hygienic spaces to women in general and lactating mothers so that they feel safe," said the officer. Shanti Alay – strictly for women passengers only – boasts modern seating with airport-styled stainless-steel cushioned benches, upgraded lighting, enhanced ventilation with additional fans and airconditioners, and interiors to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere. The space also offers light refreshments and beverages (non-alcoholic), including self-dispensing tea/coffee machines and Rail Neer bottles, a travel desk to assist passengers, and the sale of magazines, newspapers, sanitary pads, toiletries, and OTC medicines. The officer further pointed out that a nominal fee of Rs 20 per hour will be charged from women willing to benefit from the lounge to support the upkeep and management of the facility. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Solaranlagen viel günstiger: Dieser Qualitätsführer macht's möglich Febesol Mehr erfahren Undo "We did this at Nashik Road railway station. Bhusawal division collects Rs 11.2 crore through ticket checking in May

Nashik: Central Railway's Bhusawal division secured the country's highest ticket-checking revenue, collecting Rs 11.2 crore in May through enforcement initiatives. "The division collected Rs 11.2 crore through ticket-checking exercises, aimed at ensuring comfortable travel for people holding valid tickets for their journey by train, in May alone, and this is the highest across the country," said Ity Pandey, the Bhusawal division manager. Speaking to TOI, Pandey said enforcement followed passenger reports regarding overcrowding in reserved and air-conditioned coaches, affecting travel comfort. "Passengers seek help on Rail Madad, which is available round the clock. All the complaints related to the inconvenience are taken seriously, and our staff is deployed to ensure things are correct. This obviously means some people are travelling without tickets and some without valid tickets," Pandey said, adding that roughly 80% of penalised passengers lacked tickets. "With earnings of Rs 11.2 crore, we are in the top position in the country, followed by the Mumbai division of Western Railway. The cumulative figure for this year (April and May) stands at Rs 22.11 crore, as against Rs 17.07 crore last year for the same two months," the officer said. The division sustained this exceptional collection for two successive years. Despite operating with lesser staff compared to the Mumbai division of Western Railway, regular inspections took place on all trains. Passengers holding invalid tickets were redirected to suitable coaches, while those without tickets faced regulatory charges, another senior officer said. The official noted that several trains on demand (TOD) — or summer specials — operated via the Bhusawal division during holiday periods. "The staff was asked to carry out the checking of the trains at all the stations from Nashik Road to Khandva and up to Nagpur in the Bhusawal division, which led to the receipts from the people who were travelling without tickets," the officer said. April documented 1.2 lakh cases, generating Rs 11.2 crore (previous year: 0.97 lakh cases; Rs 7.8 crore), while May recorded 2.4 lakh cases, yielding Rs 22.1 crore (previous year: 1.9 lakh cases; Rs 17.1 crore). Box Nisar Khan, a travel ticket examiner (TTE), emerged as the leading ticket checking employee across the Bhusawal Division. He registered 1,577 cases, earning revenue of Rs 25.2 lakh in April and 1,597 cases with revenue of Rs 32 lakh in May. Additionally, CP Badhe, from the amenity staff, identified 649 cases, collecting Rs 12.7 lakh in April and 850 cases with Rs 18.5 lakh in May.
