2025 Langer Trophy live stream: Ipswich SHS v Palm Beach Currumbin SHS, Round 3

The younger brother of a former Blues Origin series winner shapes as shock weapon for Ipswich State High in its quest for the Langer Trophy. It took just two touches for underage teenager Baxter Best, the 16-year-old brother of Knights tearaway Bradman, to leave a palm-sized mark on the Langer Trophy last week. The boom rookie, who signed a four year deal with the Brisbane Broncos earlier this year, showed a similar stiff arm which helped his brother into a Blues jersey last year as he set up the match-sealing try against Marsden. Ipswich will be hoping Best can produce a few more of those as the school prepares to face off against reigning national champions Palm Beach Currumbin at North Ipswich Reserve on Tuesday. The match will be streamed live and exclusive at 5.30pm on KommunityTV through Ipswich State High coach Joshua Bretherton said his intention was to give the rookie a 10 minute taster in his debut. But an injury in the outside backs forced his hand early, and Best rose to the occasion. 'We felt that the best thing to do was to try and challenge him,' said Bretherton. 'To try put him out of his comfort zone. 'I thought he did a really solid job. 'I asked him to do some simple things defensively on exit and stuff and he did those things for me which is what I am most proud of. 'He did the team contribution stuff he needed to do and when the game broke open for him, he was able to do the bits everyone knows he can do.' Palm Beach Currumbin come into the clash against Ipswich with some form after bouncing back in Round 2 with a 24-12 win over Wavell State High.
