Brad Pitt Reveals His One Condition for Doing a Movie With Tom Cruise
Originally appeared on E! Online Brad Pitt's first rule of action movies: They must stay on the ground. While the F1 star has appeared in countless action films throughout his career, he has a single condition for costarring in another movie with Tom Cruise. 'I'm not gonna hang my ass off airplane [and] s--t like that,' Brad said in an exclusive interview with E! News that aired June 12, quipping that he'll reunite with his Interview With the Vampire costar 'when he does something again that's on the ground.' Though the Mr. & Mrs. Smith actor won't be imitating the stunts Tom performed himself throughout the Mission: Impossible franchise, he has nothing but respect for his fellow performer, with whom he would race go carts while filming their 1994 vampire flick. 'He got me in the end,' Brad said of their playful competitions. 'I gotta admit.' And the respect is mutual. In fact, Tom shared his excitement for Brad's Formula 1 movie earlier this year and called the Fight Club star his 'friend' while discussing their go cart rivalry. More from E! 'He's very good. He's a very good driver. Believe me, I've raced against him.' And his stunt rule isn't the only boundary Brad has made on movie sets. The 61-year-old also had strict superstitions he followed while on the set of F1. 'My OCD: before getting in the car, I always have to get in on the left side,' Brad told E!. 'I have to put my left shoe on first, I'd have to put my left glove on first.' And even when getting buckled into his seat, Brad was particular about which side of the belt the crew members started with. 'The guys knew they had to do left first,' he explained. 'If they didn't, we had to start over.' F1 premieres in theaters June 27. In the meantime, read on to see other exciting films coming out this summer. Brad Pitt: ‘I'll work with Tom Cruise on the ground'
The Hollywood icons starred in the 1994 horror fantasy Interview with the Vampire, but have yet to find the right movie to collaborate on since then. As Pitt appeared at the Mexico premiere of F1, he was asked if he's still interested in reuniting with daredevil Cruise. "Well, I'm not gonna hang my a*s off airplanes and s**t like that," Pitt replied with a laugh when E! News asked about working with Cruise again. "So when he does something again that's on the ground {then yes}."

F1's Brad Pitt Will Work With Tom Cruise Again on 1 Condition
Brad Pitt, the co-lead of the upcoming sports drama F1, has expressed interest in working with Tom Cruise again, though he has one condition. Notably, the Hollywood megastars have previously acted together on 1994's Interview with the Vampire, director Neil Jordan's cinematic adaptation of Anne Rice's 1976 novel of the same name. Pitt is open to collaborating with Cruise one more time after Interview with the Vampire, but has set one condition. When asked by E! News when they would appear on screen again, Pitt recently said, 'Well, I'm not gonna hang my a– off airplanes and s— like that, so when he does something again that's on the ground.' The actor also reflected on the positive things that Cruise had said about F1 and called him 'sweet.' He noted that he and Cruise had their 'go-kart days back in the early '90s.' Cruise has previously spoken about this. He revealed that he and Pitt used to drive go-karts right after they were finished filming for Interview with the Vampire, and said that Pitt was 'a very good driver.' (via Cinemablend) Pitt's above-mentioned reservations are not entirely unfounded, given the type of stunts that Cruise performs for his movies. Joseph Kosinski, the director of F1, has previously worked with Cruise on Top Gun: Maverick. During a May interview with GQ, Kosinski spoke about how the two actors dealt with stunt sequences. 'Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled,' he observed. 'They both have the natural talent for driving. But yeah, I could see Tom maybe scaring us a little bit more,' Kosinski added. In Interview with the Vampire, Cruise played Lestat de Lioncourt, whereas Pitt essayed the role of Louis de Pointe du Lac. Following its release, the movie became a critical and commercial success and received multiple Oscar nominations. Brad Pitt Was Asked If He'd Work With Tom Cruise Again, And His One Stipulation Makes Total Sense
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Things are about to get thrilling again on the 2025 movie schedule, thanks to F1's fast-approaching release into theaters. As the Brad Pitt-starring racing drama has people recalling the need for speed that his previous co-star Tom Cruise tends to feel, folks want to know if a reunion could ever be on the way. While Mr. Pitt answered that question rather creatively, he didn't say no; he merely set a condition vital to this ever taking place. Speaking with E! News, the leading man of director Joseph Kosinski's latest film got down to brass tacks. In a conversation that brought up those old Cruise/Pitt go-kart races during the production of Interview with the Vampire, Brad Pitt made this firm demand for a potential on-screen re-teaming: Well, I'm not going to hang my ass off airplanes and shit like that, so when he does something again, that's on the ground. Ok, so that feels like an automatic 'no' on Tom Cruise's mysterious space movie. And despite the high-octane thrills of F1, I don't think Brad Pitt will be wanting to jump into production on Days of Thunder's potential legacy-quel. And I can't say I blame him. His former co-star's penchant for airborne action is intense, and I get that not every actor wants to take part in that. Jokes aside, it would be pretty amazing for Pitt to be cast in another film with his past vampire partner. But his request for staying 'on the ground' doesn't seem like it's going to happen any time soon. Which sounds like part of why Tom Cruise wasn't cast in F1; the other part being that if he was in Warner Bros' upcoming thrill ride, he'd have probably tried to do all of the driving stunts. However, Brad Pitt may not be set to enter the danger zone, or any kind of zone, with Tom Cruise just yet; he knows when a good reunion could be had. As he and George Clooney's potential Ocean's 14 pitch seems to be exciting fans and stars alike as of late, we could see that team reassembled in no time. Though if Mr. Cruise ever wanted to spend some time away from stunts, the Ocean's franchise could always use some new players on either side of the moral coin. Don't be too sad, though, as action fans who want Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt to take on another project could pull an interesting double feature. As Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is still in theaters, you could easily book yourself for a showing of F1® The Movie before or after that very title. Of course, you'll have to wait until June 27th to do that, as that's when Mr. Pitt's shot of adrenaline (that stays on the ground) will be heading to theaters.
