Parts of PH will see cloudy skies, rains due to ITCZ, easterlies

Several areas of the country are expected to experience rain in the next 24 hours due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and easterlies, PAGASA said Thursday afternoon. In its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms would persist over Mindanao due to the ITCZ. The same weather conditions are expected over Aurora and Quezon due to the easterlies. Moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods and landslides. The easterlies will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods and landslides. Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country. Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:28 a.m. on Friday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/VBL, GMA Integrated News

Meanwhile, at 3:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 360 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union and will have no direct effect. Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Surigao del Sur, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ with the possible occurrence of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms. The wind speed forecast for Luzon is light to moderate moving in the east to southeast direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate. Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the southeast to northeast direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate. LPA inside PAR ‘unlikely' to turn into storm — PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) observed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is 'unlikely' to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Wednesday afternoon. At 3 p.m., the LPA was located 170 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union. It will affect the weather conditions of Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Batangas, and Cavite, according to the state weather bureau's 4 p.m. daily weather forecast. Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, and Sultan Kudarat. These moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods and landslides. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will persist throughout the rest of the country due to the easterlies. These severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods and landslides. State meteorologists also said winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
