Photo: Reuters At least 15 people were killed and 75 others injured in Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukraine overnight on Tuesday, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said. The capital, Kyiv, was hit hardest in the attack, where a ballistic missile struck a nine-storey apartment building, killing 14 people and injuring 60 others, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency cited the minister as saying. Emergency workers were at the scene to rescue people from under the rubble. The Ukrainian Interior Ministry said 27 locations in the capital, including apartment buildings, educational institutions and critical infrastructure facilities, were under attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack 'one of the most terrifying strikes on Kyiv' and said Russian forces fired more than 440 drones and 32 missiles at Ukraine overnight. In the southern city of Odesa, one person was killed and 10 others injured. Casualties were also reported in the Kiev and Chernihiv regions. The attack lasted nearly nine hours and is the latest in a spate of mass drone and missile attacks on Kyiv. (Xinhua/AP)

Zelenskyy: Russian forces repelled in Sumy, but sabotage groups appear in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the fighting is taking place along the border on the Sumy front, where the Russians have been halted. He also said that the Russians are deploying small sabotage and reconnaissance groups in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to create an information wave about the advance. Source: Zelenskyy speaking to journalists on 13 June, as quoted by Interfax-Ukraine news agency Quote from Zelenskyy: "North-Sloboda, that's what we call the Sumy front. We are levelling the position. What is important: there are 53,000 Russians there. The fighting there is along the border. You have to understand that the enemy is stopped there. The maximum depth at which the fighting takes place is 7 km from the border. So that people also understand how far away Sumy is." Details: Zelenskyy also stressed that the threat had been eliminated on the Luhansk front. Serious fighting also takes place towards Kostiantynivka. The president said that the Russians had an advantage, but the defence forces are advancing along the road. Quote from Zelenskyy: "Regarding Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. There is no advance of the group in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast now. But the information wave is very important for them... and they are trying to get at least one foot on the administrative border in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. For them, it is important to tell a story, take photos, record videos, etc. That's why they are launching small task forces to do just that." Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Zelenskyy announces three-year plan for IRIS-T deliveries from Germany
Ukraine and Germany have agreed on a joint plan to supply Kyiv with IRIS-T air defence systems over the next three years. Source: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a briefing following a meeting with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine Quote: "We are also grateful for the supply of IRIS-T air defence systems. We now understand the delivery plan – I won't go into all the details. But it's a plan for the next three years, and this is very important support for us regardless." Details: Zelenskyy stressed that the plan does not imply the war will last that long, but Ukraine requires air defence systems to protect its civilians. He also noted that Ukraine expects to localise the production of these "very high-quality" German air defence systems. Background: In May, Ukraine signed agreements with German company Diehl Defence for the production of IRIS-T systems and missiles for Ukrainian use. Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Zelenskyy: Russia aims to seize Odesa and reach borders with Moldova and Romania
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russia's military plans are aimed at capturing Odesa and then advancing to the borders with Moldova and Romania. Source: Zelenskyy's speech at the 4th Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit in Odesa, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine Quote: "And finally, again, we're here in our beautiful city, in Odesa. This beautiful city is a target for Russia. It wants to destroy it like it did countless cities and villages in occupied territories. Russian war plans point to this region – Odesa, and then toward the borders with Moldova and Romania. Of course, we need protection now. But even more, we need long-term guarantees that this can never happen again." Details: Zelenskyy urged summit participants to view post-war security guarantees as a practical necessity. Quote: "From air defence to cyber threats – we need real tools for deterrence and rapid response. Let's look at our agreements, armies and infrastructure – and strengthen everything that keeps our nations safe." Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!
