Influencers react to Indy Clinton's private investigator reveal

One of Australia's most well-known influencers says she has hired a private investigator to find her most prolific alleged trolls, sending her huge fan base into a tailspin. Indy Clinton, 27, is an influencer known for documenting her life with her three children and is often trolled relentlessly. However, Clinton was fed up with the alleged trolling and hired a private investigator to look into the biggest anonymous accounts, who she claims were giving her trouble in an attempt to uncover their identity and bring legal action. Australians are able to sue online trolls when it comes to abusive messages and emails. On Sunday, the mother-of-three posted a video of herself dancing in her kitchen after being handed a binder. 'How it feels receiving a 64 page report from my PI after an extensive three month investigation on all my ladies (mothers) who have continiously (sic) bullied, defamed and trolled me and my family for months and months and even years,' she said. The internet lost their minds at the WAG-atha Christie-esque move, with several influencers praising the TikTok Creator of the Year 2023 winner. Tarah Elizabeth, who documents her ADHD and pregnancy journey said a 'huge thank you' to Clinton.' 'For so long, it's felt like we just have to cop it. Like these people can say whatever they want, spread fake stories, push harmful narrative and fuel hate … all without consequences,' she said. 'But here the truth: you're not above the law. You're not protected from defamation. And you're not truly anonymous behind your burner accounts (the ones they make after we block them). 'We block you, and you come back. It's relentless. It's damaging. And it's enough. 'Thank you, Indy, for speaking up and starting this conversaton (sic). This culture of belittling, bullying and hiding behind your keyboads (sic) had gone way too far and it's enough.' Lucy Jackson called the move 'iconic', saying that the bullies were starting to get what was coming. Brittney Saunders, a content creator and the woman behind FAYT the Label also congratulated Clinton. She claimed people like the accused are usually creator's 'number one fan'. 'This was always going to happen and I am glad she has come out and said, 'Look out, I've got all of your information,' Saunders said. 'I'm all for influencers, content creators and celebrities being called out when they're genuinely doing something wrong but people hiding behind faceless accounts or anonymous accounts and just relentlessly ripping on people that they don't even know is just disgusting behaviour.' She said relentlessly picking on how someone looks is not freedom of speech — it's obsession. Some people have questioned Clinton's decision to hire the private investigator, with one person claiming she recently said she wasn't bothered by trolls. 'Yeah, I actually do remember saying that — believe it or not — and I probably said it because I was collecting and collating all the information for my PI so I wanted to throw you off scent,' she said. 'Moving forward, online trolling and bullying is going to effect (sic) someone. We aren't robots on here. We are actual human beings with emotions and real life families and hearts.'

Influencers are hiring private investigators to unmask anonymous online trolls

Trolls be warned: influencers are now hiring private investigators to expose their anonymous bullies online. Australian influencer Indy Clinton, who boasts 2.1 million TikTok followers and was crowned Creator of the Year in 2023, posted a seemingly typical video yesterday of herself dancing in her kitchen. At first glance, it appeared no different from her usual content—until viewers read the on-screen text. 'How it feels receiving a 64 page report from my PI [private investigator] after an extensive 3 month investigation on all my ladies (mothers) who have continuously bullied, defamed & trolled me and my family for months n moths & even years,' the text read. 'Change is coming. and I will spend my last dollars to make change before I renovate my bathroom,' she wrote in the caption, with the hashtag #urnotanonymous. Clinton's comments were soon flooded with support from fellow influencers, many praising her for taking action. Some even asked for the contact details of her private investigator. The trolls, on the other hand, were conspicuously absent. 'It's literally nothing but crickets in this comment section from all the haters,' one commenter wrote. 'I would pay to see the reaction of those people when they found out that they're not so anonymous,' another added. On her Instagram Story, Clinton claimed she now knows specific details about her trolls — including where they live, their Australian Business Numbers, and even the tattoos they got at 18. But what surprised her most: many of the trolls were fellow mothers. (Fast Company has reached out to Clinton for comment.) If you're wondering who actually has the time or energy to troll influencers online, the scale of the problem may surprise you. Manychat, a leading chat marketing platform, surveyed 974 Americans in May 2025 about online behavior. The results: 61% admitted to making offensive jokes or comments online, and 3 in 5 confessed to spreading rumors. More than 3 in 4 believed their online actions have no real-world consequences—despite research linking online harassment to anxiety, sleep disruption, and suicidal thoughts. Fast Company has previously reported on the internet's so-called snarking problem, with entire subreddits devoted to obsessively dissecting—and critiquing—influencers' every move. The internet's promise of anonymity has long made trolls feel untouchable. In fact, 84% of those surveyed said they feel more empowered to speak freely online when anonymous. But with influencers now taking matters into their own hands, the tide may be turning. Just last week, the anonymous founder of Tattle Life—a British gossip forum often described as 'the most hate-filled corner of the web'—was revealed to be an influencer himself. The unmasking followed a two-year investigation led by Neil and Donna Sands, who successfully sued the site for defamation. 'The internet is not an anonymous place,' they posted on Instagram while sharing the news. The comments section is awfully quiet right now. The final deadline for Fast Company's Next Big Things in Tech Awards is Friday, June 20, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Apply today.

TikTok star Indy Clinton hires investigator to identify trolls cyberbullying her following plastic surgery backlash

Indy Clinton has turned to a private investigator to identify the internet trolls that bully her online. The TikTok star, 27, who recently copped severe backlash following her rhinoplasty surgery, has hired professionals to look into who has been 'trolling', 'harassing' and 'defaming' her over the years. Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the mum-of-three revealed that the cyberbullies had been identified and she was ready to take action to hold them accountable. 'Some of the defamatory things which have been said about me in recent years are extremely distressing,' she began. She went on to express her frustration over the issue, saying that if the social media platforms couldn't make a change, she would. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I will use my platform and my voice to not only spread awareness but to make an impact,' she shared. The social media star then made a harrowing confession about the toll cyberbullying had on people including herself. 'Lives are being taken,' she said, adding: 'For me - a few months ago - what I endured was life or death.' In May, Indy revealed that she was taking serious measures to bring some of the hurtful trolls who have bullied her to account. The influencer hosted a Question and Answer session with fans on social media and was asked by one, 'Are you doing better? The hate you get online is so unnecessary.' Indy answered that she was working hard to make some of the hurtful trolls who have bullied her responsible for their actions. 'The anonymous accounts and the faceless people hiding behind them need to be held accountable,' she said. It comes after Indy hit back at trolls that likened her to Michael Jackson following a cosmetic procedure on her nose. The social media star had been criticised for covering her face, like the late pop star, and not showing the aftermath of the surgery in April. 'I have a lot of swelling obviously on the outside, but also internally which is making my nostrils look uneven,' she said. 'It's going down everyday,' she said of the swelling, adding it was 'so much worse' and she's been sleeping with little splints in her nostrils to help the healing. Speaking of her time in the cast, she said it was the 'longest twelve days of her life' but she was happy with her 'super natural' results. Indy posted a video of herself wearing a bandage on her nose as she sat drinking a smoothie in her garden and responded to a comment which read: 'Ok weird - MJ vibes now.' She finished by saying her followers could either support her or leave because she had no time for haters. 'I am changing in real time and you have an insight into my life. You can either stay on the ride or get the f**k away. I don't want to hear from you if you don't like it, because I do. I am growing,' she said. Indy, who is known for her real-life content and raw portrayal of motherhood on social media, clapped back in the post. 'Just because I'm transparent doesn't mean I need to show myself with bruised eyes, a swollen face, blood crusted stitches and my greasy hair,' she said.

Millionaire TikTok star Indy Clinton shocks fans with the 'disgusting' state of her bathroom at Palm Beach home

She has made a fortune thanks to her 'get ready with me' clips and relatable videos about parenting. And TikTok star Indy Clinton shocked fans on Friday when she revealed the state of one of the bathrooms in her multimillion dollar Palm Beach home. Indy took to Instagram to boast about her recent buy for the room - a moustache-decorated fluffy toilet seat cover. 'My new purchase 10/10 recommend,' she captioned the Instagram story. But her followers didn't seem to care about the new retro accessory, and were more concerned about the bathroom's fifthly floor and broken wall tiles. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Indy's bathroom is yet to be renovated and features a fifties-style design and beige colour scheme. There are scuff and dirt marks on the floor and even a tile missing on the wall. It wasn't long before Indy was criticised about the state of the space. The mother-of-three quickly posted a follow-up photo of the room and hit back at trolls. 'My house is an original 1950s home hence the character,' she wrote across the picture. 'Hahahahaha I can't believe that so many of you care what "one of" my bathrooms look like. The dms [direct messages] people are saying are wild.' She continued her tirade in a third post. 'Not that I need to explain myself because who cares if someone's bathroom looks like this?' Indy wrote. The mother-of-three quickly posted a follow-up photo of the room and hit back at trolls She went on to say she had builders on 'standby' but she wasn't ready to commit to renovations, especially considering she had asthmatics living in her house and the build would cause a lot of dust. She added that builders were waiting for her to pick out tapware and tiles, but she hadn't had a chance to source the 'colourful Italian type' fittings that she wanted. 'Anywayyy once we finish building our wellness area, I'll be able to focus on this "disgusting" bathroom,' she finished the rant. Indy's bathroom comes as a surprise considering the glamorous life the influencer leads on social media. Recently, she was spotted kicking up her heels at the Sueno Rooftop restaurant at Mermaid Beach to celebrate the launch of Bouf Haircare. Indy, who is the face of the campaign, turned heads in a Dilara Findikoglu corseted red mini dress that hugged her curves and showed off her long, trim pins. The dress, worn famously by Aussie actress Margot Robbie at the Barbie European premiere in London, retails for a whopping £1,825 (AU$3,814). Just last week, Indy was spotted at the airport returning from her relaxing stay at the Hugh Jackman-owned Gwinganna retreat in Queensland. The luxury escape was part of a PR wellness trip hosted by Rachael Finch and Michael Miziner-owned supplement brand Kissed Earth. Also in attendance at the luxe stay were Married At First Sight star Jules Cameron and media personality Ash Pollard.
