Fat Joe sued in bombshell lawsuit by ex employee. Here are the shocking allegations
Diddy isn't the only rapper making headlines for the wrong reasons these days. Fat Joe is being sued for by former employee Terrance 'T.A.' Dixon, who accuses the hip hop legend of 'coercive labor exploitation, financial fraud, sexual manipulation, violent intimidation, and psychological coercion,' Variety reports. The legal move comes just a few weeks after the 54-year-old Bronx native sued Dixon for slandering him on a social media post where he claimed the rap icon flew a 16-year-old girl across state lines for sex. That suit also named Dixon's lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn. In legal documents filed filed in U.S. District Court Southern District of New York Thursday, Dixon claims the music star forced him into 'humiliating situations, including sex acts performed under duress and surveillance, accompanied by threats of abandonment in foreign countries if [he] refused compliance.' In total, Dixon, who worked as a hype man to energize crowds at Joe's shows for 16 years, said he was subjected to more than 4,000 such scenarios throughout his tenure. Even more shocking, Dixon accuses his former boss of engaging in sexual relations with at least three underage girls (referred to as 'Minor Does'), including a 'Caucasian' non U.S. citizen. The latter alleged relationship began when the girl was 15 after one of the hitmaker's concerts abroad, the federal suit says. 'Defendant flew Minor Doe 2 to New York City and Miami, Florida, on multiple occasions,' reads the suit. 'Due to Minor Doe 2's body being adolescent and not fully formed, Defendant paid for her to get a Brazilian Butt Lift. Minor Doe 2 eventually left Defendant and is now married to a professional athlete.' The relationship with Minor 3 was apparently more serious, with Dixon saying Joe (real name real name Joseph Cartagena) was 'in love' with her and even contemplated getting a divorce to be with her, Dixon says. 'The Defendant paid all Minor Doe 3's bills and even took her overseas to his tour stops. He brought her to Florida and would put her up in a condo he rented a few blocks from his house with his wife,' the lawsuit states. Dixon, also a 'contributor' on such classics as 'Congratulations,' 'Ice Cream,' and 'Money Over B---hes,' is seeking up to $20 million in damages. Through his lawyer Joe Tacopina, the Grammy nominee said the suit was full of 'manufactured' allegations and was filed in retaliation for his original civil suit as an extortion attempt. 'Law enforcement is aware of the extortionate demand at the heart of this scheme,' the statement partially read. 'The allegations against Mr. Cartagena are complete fabrications — lies intended to damage his reputation and force a settlement through public pressure. Mr. Cartagena will not be intimidated. We have taken legal action to expose this fraudulent campaign and hold everyone involved accountable.' READ MORE: Fat Joe says he bailed Justin Bieber out of jail

Fat Joe accused of sex trafficking, fraud in new lawsuit
Joseph "Fat Joe" Cartagena is being accused of sex trafficking, fraud and more in a new lawsuit brought by a former employee. The 157-page lawsuit was filed June 19 in the Southern District of New York by lawyer Tyrone Blackburn on behalf of Terrance "T. A." Dixon, who says he worked with Cartagena for over 15 years from 2005 to 2020 as a "hype man," "lyricist, background vocalist, security team member, and creative collaborator," according to the suit. In the complaint, Dixon alleges Cartagena and his associates "systematically engaged in coercive labor exploitation, financial fraud, sexual manipulation, violent intimidation, and psychological coercion." Dixon claims he "contributed lyrics, vocals, and creative direction" to several of Cartagena's songs, including "Congratulations" and "Ice Cream," "without recognition or fair compensation." In addition to financial allegations, Dixon claims the rapper allegedly forced him "into humiliating situations, including sex acts performed under duress and surveillance" and allegedly threatened abandonment in foreign countries, job loss or physical harm if he didn't comply, according to the complaint. The lawsuit also claims that Cartagena and his associates allegedly trafficked minors and psychologically groomed them, with Dixon claiming he "personally witnessed" Cartagena allegedly "engage in sexual relations with children who were fifteen and sixteen years old." Given the nature of the allegations, a trigger warning was included at the top of the court document, noting it contains "highly graphic information of a sexual nature, including sexual assault." Dixon is seeking over $2 million for "unpaid performance wages" as well as additional damages. When reached by ABC News, Cartagena's attorney, Joe Tacopina, said Cartagena sued Dixon and lawyer Blackburn back in April alleging "extortion, slander and more." He claimed Dixon's lawsuit against his client was "a blatant act of retaliation." "The lawsuit filed by Tyrone Blackburn and Terrance Dixon is a blatant act of retaliation -- a desperate attempt to deflect attention from the civil suit we filed first, which exposed their coordinated scheme to extort Mr. Cartagena through lies, threats, and manufactured allegations," Tacopina said. Dixon and Blackburn have until June 23 to submit a response to the first lawsuit and a hearing for the case is scheduled to take place Aug. 1. Tacopina described Dixon as a "disgruntled former employee" and claimed Blackburn has "a pattern of abusing" the court system. "We didn't just sue a disgruntled former employee trying to revive a false claim from 15 years ago -- we sued the lawyer behind it all," Tacopina continued. "Tyrone Blackburn has a well-documented pattern of abusing the courts to harass defendants and generate media attention." "Mr. Cartagena will not be intimidated," he added. "We have taken legal action to expose this fraudulent campaign and hold everyone involved accountable." In a statement to ABC News, Blackburn pushed back against Tacopina's claims. "Joe [Tacopina] is desperate. He thought only of himself when he erroneously advised his client to take this course," Blackburn said in part. He continued, "Fat Joe knows what he has done. My client was with him for nearly 20 years. My client does not do drugs, nor does he drink alcohol. His memory is perfect, and he has receipts. We have three additional pages of predicated acts, which detail trafficking of another sort. Joe [Tacopina] should better advise his client to do the smart thing."

Fat Joe's former hype man alleges he was forced into 4,000 sex acts by rapper
Rapper Fat Joe is accused of forcing his former hype man to engage in thousands of sex acts with women in a $20 million federal civil lawsuit that also alleges he was underpaid, denied songwriting credits and threatened. Terrance 'T.A' Dixon filed the complaint Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against the rapper, members of his inner circle and Roc Nation. An attorney for Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, said the allegations are 'complete fabrications' intended to damage the rapper's reputation. The lawsuit says that Dixon was the rapper's hype man, or on-stage entertainer, but also contributed as his lyricist, background vocalist, bodyguard and 'creative collaborator' from about 2005 to 2022. It alleges that Dixon authored or co-authored dozens of songs, including 'Congratulations,' 'Ice Cream,' 'No Problems' and 'Black Out.' 'Plaintiff contributed lyrics, melodies, vocal phrasing, and conceptual design to these works — substantially shaping their final form as distributed to the public,' the suit states. Dixon was underpaid, denied songwriting credits and deliberately concealed from royalties and backend compensation, according to the lawsuit. Cartagena controlled Dixon through psychological manipulation, intimidation and persistent threats, the lawsuit states. It alleges that Roc Nation either knew or should have known about the rapper's behavior but took no action. Roc Nation, which is named as a defendant, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday. The 157-page document, which comes with a 'trigger warning' at the top, also details allegations of sexual abuse. It alleges that Cartagena routinely brought women back to his hotel rooms and forced Dixon to engage in sexual acts with them, sometimes in front of members of the rapper's inner circle. According to the suit, Cartagena 'frequently arranged and orchestrated these encounters, intentionally creating scenarios designed to reinforce Plaintiff's complete submission.' It accuses Cartagena of remaining in the room to watch, record and 'provide explicit direction and commands.' Dixon did not want to participate in the acts, the lawsuit states, but did so 'solely out of fear of immediate retaliation.' During one alleged incident, Dixon refused, and Cartagena canceled his flight home, leaving Dixon stranded with no money, the suit says. Dixon said that over a 16-year period, he estimates that he was 'coerced into more than 4,000 sexual acts to maintain his standing within the enterprise.' The lawsuit also alleges that Dixon personally witnessed Cartagena engage in sexual relations with 15 and 16-year-old girls. Cartagena's lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, said Dixon's lawsuit is a 'blatant act of retaliation' and a 'desperate attempt to deflect attention' from a civil lawsuit the rapper filed in April accusing Dixon and his attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, of extortion, slander and defamation. That lawsuit from Cartagena says that things ended amicably with Dixon in 2019 and it wasn't until years later that Dixon alleged that he had been underpaid while working with the rapper. The suit says that Cartagena compensated Dixon 'handsomely' for assisting him on tour and denies Dixon's allegations that the rapper had sexual relations with minors. It further accuses Dixon and Blackburn of trying to extort Cartagena for money. 'We didn't just sue a disgruntled former employee trying to revive a false claim from 15 years ago — we sued the lawyer behind it all,' Tacopina said in a statement. 'The allegations against Mr. Cartagena are complete fabrications — lies intended to damage his reputation and force a settlement through public pressure. Mr. Cartagena will not be intimidated,' he said. 'We have taken legal action to expose this fraudulent campaign and hold everyone involved accountable.' In response, Blackburn said Friday that Cartagena 'is desperate and grasping for straws.' 'We met with law enforcement, let's wait and see who they believe,' he said. The lawsuit says Dixon suffered severe emotional injuries, including chronic anxiety, debilitating fear and symptoms consistent with PTSD. He remains in trauma-informed therapy, the suit says.
