He will lead India in the five-match Test series against England beginning at Leeds on Friday. Image credit: X (Formerly Twitter) Shubman Gill had won the IPL 2021 title with Gujarat Titans under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. Image credit: X (Formerly Twitter) Shubman Gill has failed to win IPL title as captain and carries that heartache. In IPL 2025, Gill's GT lost to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match. Image credit: X (Formerly Twitter) Shubman Gill said winning England series is bigger than IPL. "IPL comes every year and you get to have a crack at it every year. In my opinion, winning a Test Series in England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa (collectively SENA countries) is bigger," Gill said in the pre-match press conference. "I met both of them in the IPL and they told me about their experiences, especially here in England, and some of the challenges that we might face here," Gill said. This player won 2 IPL tittle with CSK and MI without playing a single game, considered biggest show off buy, his name is...... New Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen a lot of players being bought on the promise of talent but none was better than a choice Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made ahead of IPL 2021 auction. They bought a player from Punjab Kings (then KXIP) for INR 9.25 crore (US$ 1,273,000 approx.) but never played him in the season. Moreover, CSK won the title in IPL 2021 and the player – Krishnappa Gotham – went on to win the title without breaking a sweat and pocketing all the money. Before he won with CSK, he already had a title to his name with Mumbai Indians in 2017 – that too without playing for them in the season. Isn't Krishnappa Gowtham the quirkiest buy of the IPL history? Let's have a look at his journey: Gowtham is only one of the 10 players to win a title with both MI (2017) and CSK (2021) but the only player to do so without playing a single game for any of the franchise. He even played for India in one off ODI in July 2021 against Sri Lanka and that remains his only international appearance. It was with Rajasthan Royals in 2018 that Gowtham caught limelight of Shane Warne – Royals skipper during 2008 IPL title win. He played full season with RR in IPL 2018 and took 11 wickets – showing promise. He also took the team to win against MI with 11 ball 33 not out in a crunch game. Krishnappa Gowtham's IPL career has been full of ups and downs. In the year 2018, he played the most 15 matches and scored 126 runs, with his highest score being 33* and his strike rate being 196.87. After this, in 2019, he scored 18 runs in 7 matches, while in 2020 he scored 42 runs while playing in just 2 matches, with 22* being his best score and an average of 42.00. In the year 2022, Gowtham got 4 matches but he could not score a single run. In 2023, he scored 61 runs in 7 matches, with 23 being his highest score and his strike rate being 164.86. In 2024, he played only one match but did not bat. Overall, Krishnappa Gowtham has scored 247 runs in 36 matches in the IPL so far, with his best score being 33*.

Rajat Patidar vows to achieve IPL glory for Virat Kohli, determined to win final: ‘He has done so well over the years'

Virat Kohli continues to remain the most important player in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru dressing room despite leaving the captaincy after IPL 2021. He still holds the same respect from his teammates for his contribution to the franchise and the Indian team. The RCB players have often talked highly of the batting maestro for what he did for the franchise and remained loyal to them for 18 long years. Now, with RCB securing a spot in the IPL final after a nine-year wait, captain Rajat Patidar has made it evident that the team is determined to win their maiden title for Virat Kohli, the franchise's longest-serving player, who has endured the highs and lows alongside them since the very beginning. 'We will try and win this for him,' Patidar said ahead of the IPL final against PBKS. 'He has done so well for India and RCB over the years.' RCB have played three IPL finals in the past, but they have still eluded the prestigious title, and Patidar is focused on ending the drought in the team's fourth final. The middle-order batter has shown impressive leadership, effectively utilising his resources during high-pressure moments. There is a burden of expectations on Patidar to end RCB's title drought, but he has stated that his focus is to stay in the present and handle what is in his control. 'Expectations come naturally, especially when you're leading a team like RCB in a final, but I always focus on what's in my control and try to stay in the present,' he said. 'This captaincy journey has been a great learning experience for me," he added. The Kohli factor has undeniably played a big role in RCB attracting massive crowd support, even in away fixtures, with Patidar noting that such backing makes them feel like they're playing on home turf. 'Wherever we go, we feel that the crowd is a home ground for us and (given ) the way they are showing support and love from the (last many) years,' he said. The two teams have already faced each other thrice this season. Punjab Kings emerged victorious in the first encounter, but RCB stamped their authority in the last two, including a massive confidence-boosting win in Qualifier 1. However, the final is going to be a different ball game altogether, with the pressure of both teams' expectations for winning their maiden titles.
