Simple Plan unveils first look at documentary
EMO/PUNK rockers come to the front of the moshpit because Simple Plan is back – well, not quite, but the outfit has unveiled the first look at its upcoming documentary Simple Plan: The Kids in the Crowd. The documentary, which is set to premiere on July 8, is an intimate look into the band's 25-journey, from basement shows in Montreal to global stardom, as the 90s emo/punk rock sensation Fans are in for a treat as the documentary will feature never-seen-before archival footage, along with new interviews with band members and punk rock icons, including Blink-182 Mark Hoppus, punk princess Avril Lavigne, The Offspring Dexter Holland and Noodles, and NOFX Fat Mike. 'We are thrilled to share this first look at our documentary. The film captures our journey, struggles and most memorable moments together. Creating it has been deeply meaningful, and sharing our story is the perfect way to celebrate our 25th anniversary,' shared the band. 'The Kids in the Crowd is about dreaming big and perseverance – it is story of friendship, brotherhood, and music's transformative power.' The band expressed hopes that the documentary will encourage people to believe in themselves and inspire a new generation of passionate dreamers who follow the calling of their hearts... 'maybe even start a band in their own garage or basement' just like Simple Plan did. The documentary also chronicles the creation of hits such as Welcome to My Life, I'd Do Anything and Perfect, which have shaped a generation of emo/punk rockers. Accompanying the documentary, there is an early demo of I'm Just a Kid from the band's multi-platinum 2002 debut album No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls. The Perfect crooner is currently on its Bigger Than You Think! Headline Tour across North America. The documentary will be available for streaming on Prime Video.

Coronation Street fan-favourite to stay on show as star signs new contract
Another Coronation Street favourite's future on the cobbles has been confirmed, with the star having signed a new contract to stay in the cast. Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) has quickly become a fan-favourite with her outgoing nature behind the Rovers bar, with her penchant for karaoke bringing joy to viewers. In recent weeks, her antics have become even more outrageous since being made manager of the local boozer. Though the Rovers is still on the market with owner Carla Connor (Alison King) having yet to find a buyer, Glenda's future on the cobbles has been confirmed. 'I've just re-signed my contract! The poor things have got stuck with me for another year!' Jodie told Bella Magazine. 'I'm thrilled. I love it there. I used to always say to my agent, 'Would you ask if I can be on Corrie?' 'I was that crazy person outside, pitched in a tent, wanting to get in – and now I'm in!' Metro has reached out to Coronation Street for comment. Glenda first appeared on our screens in 2022, arriving on Coronation Street after working as an entertainer on a cruise ship. As the sister of George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) she quickly found her place among the locals and settled in behind the bar of the Rovers. However, she didn't entirely leave her entertaining background behind, as she purchased a franchise of theatre school Little Big Shotz in 2023. More recently, she embarked on a brief romance with Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell), and was left terrified after being attacked during a break-in at the pub. However, one star has revealed that she is very much set to stay on the cobbles, and possibly behind the bar of the Rovers. West End star Jodie Prenger, 46, first made her debut on the long-running serial drama as Glenda Shuttleworth in August 2022. She rose to fame after winning the second series of The Biggest Loser in 2006. This was before she beat out the likes of Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley to win the role of Nancy in the 2009 West End revival of Oliver as part of Andrew Lloyd Webber's BBC Talent show, I'd Do Anything. The actress soon swapped the stage for the screen as she secured a 'dream' role on the cobbles. Jodie has now revealed that she's set to reprise her popular role in more episodes of the show. She excitedly told Bella magazine: "I've just re-signed my contract! The poor things have got stuck with me for another year! "I'm thrilled. I love it there.
