2025 GMC Hummer EV 2X: Is It Worth $99,045? My In-Depth Guide to Its Upsides & Downsides

The GMC Hummer EV 2X and 3X mainly differ with their drivetrain; but few would even notice. Is the GMC Hummer EV 2X the right one for you? What a beast Unless you're into hard launching your 9,000+ lbs Hummer on a track, or going up the face of a cliff, you'll be hard-pressed to find a noticeable difference in how the Hummer EV 2X and 3X feel. That's especially true for daily commuting. In 2024, GMC sold just under a combined 14,000 Hummer EVs. Many owners seem happy with their purchase, after the first year's models sorted out a few bugs. Are you interested in a Hummer? Here's why the 'less expensive' X2 might (or might not) be right for you. 2026 HUMMER EV Carbon Fiber Edition Pickup — Source: GMC Reason to love it #1: It looks like a giant toy – in a good way Few can deny the curbside appeal of the GMC Hummer EV, and the 2X and 3X look pretty much the same. From the massive tires, slab-sided exterior design, and new colors, the Hummer EV is stunning. There are six wheel options, and six available exterior color options as well. Their new $495 Solar Orange, in particular, looks epic. The interior is minimalist-cool, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. There are a lot of switches, buttons, and gizmos, which is great if you're the type to nerd out on gratuitous tech. Inside and out, regardless of the colors, wheel choice, and setup, it looks cool. Hummer EV SUV — Source: GMC Reason to love it #2: It actually tows more than the 3X Depending on the configuration, you can pull up to 12,000 lbs with the GMC Hummer 2X. The 3X, which is heavier, has a maximum towing limit of 8,500 lbs when properly equipped. Maximum payload capacity is 1,300 lbs. Mind you, since this is an EV, range is significantly impacted by weight and the drag of towing. 2025 GMC HUMMER EV 3X Pickup Reason to love it #3: The driving range and charging speed are both impressive The 2025 GMC Hummer EV 2X has a GM-estimated driving range of up to 318 miles on a full charge, but the EPA lowers that estimate to 303 miles. Regardless, for a machine that makes a total of 570 horsepower and 7,400 ft of torque from two motors, it's not too shabby. In terms of fast-charging, the Hummer EV 2X can support DC fast charging at up to 300 kW, adding 100 miles in about 10 minutes if all goes well. GMC Hummer EV battery pack Reason to love it #4: It's more affordable than the 3X, among others Okay, saying a $99,045 base MSRP vehicle is 'affordable' may sound like an oxymoron, but the 3X is over $8,000 more expensive. Remember that the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class EV starts at over $162,000, and the Hummer outperforms it in many ways. The Rivian R1S and even the BMW iX xDrive60 can easily surpass the Hummer's price as well. Reason to think twice #1: You might miss some of the goodies the 3X has The 3X has three electric motors, which means you get 830 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque out of it compared to the 2X's 570 horsepower and 7,400 ft of torque. Thanks to those two rear motors, the 3X also has torque vectoring, sending power to the rear wheel that needs it for performance and additional off-road capability. There's also no Super Cruise available for the 2X!? Come on, GM. For a vehicle that costs just an eyelash under $100K, that is insane. Reason to think twice #2: Its size and weight can be a serious issue Depending on the accessories, it's easy to tip the scales at (or even over) 9,000-lbs curb weight. That is massive. Type A1 school buses have a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds or less, and heavy-duty 3500 dually pickup trucks weigh about the same. The issue with that is that if you find yourself stuck off-road, how difficult do you think it will be to have someone pull you out? The 2X weighs about twice the weight of a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. 2025 GMC HUMMER EV 3X Pickup Final thoughts Honesty, very few will seriously off-road a 2025 GMC Hummer EV – period. It's an expensive toy that garners lots of attention curbside. It's kind of like a G-Wagon in Beverly Hills, which has the potential to seriously off-road, but never will. I estimate that people will play with features like 'crab-walk' and the WTF (Watts to Freedom) launch control only a handful of times, but it will be fun when they do. I think that encapsulates this big thing pretty well: it's just for fun. Did I mention it has 4 removable t-tops?

2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 First Drive: Sprinkling More Adventurousness Over the Electric Sierra

GMC, itself one of General Motors' four main brands, has become host to a motley collection of sub-brands of its own. The luxurious Denali, created 25 years ago, has been a huge success as a top-tier trim across GMC's truck and SUV lineups. Denali-spec GMCs account for almost a third of retail sales and nets the largest profits. GMC, a brand that consists only of trucks and SUVs, also serves as the home for the resurrected Hummer sub-brand, which exists as an all-electric off-road outfit. Meanwhile, GMC is also seeing gains from another sub-brand, AT4, which was created seven years ago for the more adventurous buyer who spends time going off-road or at least dreaming of doing so. The strategy continues in the EV era. The latest: the 2026 GMC Sierra EV is now available in the off-road AT4 trim and GMC thinks it will appeal to about 20 percent of Sierra EV buyers. AT4 is now available across the GMC line with the exception of the Hummer EV pickup and SUV, which are billed as super trucks both on and off-road already. Plus, crossing sub-brands would just get too complicated, right? Anyone pining for a GMC AT4 Denali Hummer? The Sierra EV is in its third model year. It falls between more revolutionary electric trucks from Tesla and Rivian, and more conventional-looking ones from Ford (F-150 Lightning) and eventually Ram (the 1500 REV), both of which strongly resemble their internal-combustion-engine siblings. Where the Sierra stands out is range: the AT4's 478 miles with the Max Range model. It can plug into 800-volt DC public fast chargers, gobbling juice up to 350 kW, enabling up to 100 miles of range accrual in approximately 10 minutes. The other specs are similarly impressive. The EV's dual motors make it the most powerful Sierra model with 725 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque for a claimed 0-to-60 mph time of less than 4.5 seconds with the Max Range model. With the Extended Range you get 625 hp. And the Extended Range truck can tow up to 12,300 pounds. What Makes the 2026 Sierra EV AT4 More Off-Road-Ready? The Sierra EV AT4 has an extra 2 inches of ground clearance over the base Elevation trim. The Denali splits the difference: it has air suspension, which can raise the truck a couple inches. But it still rides about an inch lower than the AT4 because the Denali has standard 24-inch wheels while the AT4 rides on 35-inch all-terrain tires on smaller rims. We spent a day outside Detroit on the massive acreage of the Huntsman Hunt Club in Dryden, Michigan. The trails on the 900-acre private shooting preserve were not so tough that they tested the limits of the truck's extra ground clearance, but we can appreciate how welcome it would be on a gnarlier trail or after a heavy snowfall. Especially given how a Sierra EV Denali we tested for Truck of the Year in 2024 often introduced its belly to obstacles during our off-road evaluations, the lift seems well worth it. And the truck glided over cones set out to mark our trail—that we drove over inadvertently—without tipping them. Love Four-Wheel Steering Arguably the AT4's best feature is the four-wheel steering (also available on non-AT4 models). It gets the big truck out of tight situations. Our day wending through trails with sharp turns around trees highlighted this. The truck made turns easily in situations that would have been three- or five-point turns otherwise. It never got old. Rear-wheel steer provides the same amount of angle as other Sierra EVs; the difference is how quickly it gets there, with the AT4 delivering a much faster response. Having rear steer also make it possible to offer party tricks like Crab Walk, the feature introduced on the Hummer where the front and rear wheel are turned in the same direction, allowing the vehicle to skittle diagonally like a crab. Four-wheel steering is standard on the AT4, optional on the Denali. Like in other Sierra EV trim levels, there is an off-road mode to maintain traction when wheel slip is detected. It lowers slip at higher speeds. Unique to the AT4 is Terrain Mode for low-speed maneuverability, an overlanding mode made possible via software. Terrain Mode provides more aggressive brake control and works up to a speed of 25 mph. The friction brakes come in faster and more aggressively to get over an obstacle more smoothly. Think of it like cruise control for off-roading. The course we took did not have any large logs or boulders to test the feature at its limits, but we got to play with it on some small hills for a taste of its control. It kept wheels from spinning, even in a patch of mud. The braking is aggressive and will bring the vehicle to a halt. And yes, GMC also offers one-pedal driving which also brings the vehicle to a complete stop. You have to go into the screen to turn it on but the setting remains when you turn the truck off and back on. The AT4 has a coil-spring suspension which is bumpy and a bit harsh on a dirt trail. No question, the Denali with its air suspension is smoother, at least on-road, though you give up the AT4's beefier tires and are more likely to bash those pretty 24-inch wheels on rocks and such. Like its internal combustion engine counterpart, the Sierra EV has GMC's MultiPro midgate expandable bed that transforms a 5-foot, 10-inch bed to a 9-foot, 1-inch space with the midgate opened. Drop the tailgate, too, and you unlock a full 10-foot, 10-inch cargo platform. We drove a black AT4 with a black interior. Compared with its engineering twin, the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss, the difference inside comes down to styling, material, and colors. Oh, and the cabin is quieter thanks to GMC's use of acoustic glass. The 16.8-inch infotainment screen, mounted on the dash with a vertical portrait orientation, is standard. Activate the cameras for a crystal-clear image of the trail below you. Also standard: heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, head-up display, spray-on bedliner, and Super Cruise hands-free driver assist. How Much Does the 2026 Sierra EV AT4 Cost? The Sierra EV Extended Range AT4 starts at $81,395; go for the bigger battery Max Range and it starts at $91,695. For comparison, the base Elevation trim starts at $64,095. The AT4 is the utility lynchpin in the lineup with its combination of capability with its additional ground clearance, four-wheel steering, Terrain Mode, red front recovery hooks, expandable bed and exceptional EV range, making it the Swiss army knife of the portfolio. We wish it rode a little smoother in the rough stuff where it's designed to go, but remember—the Sierra EV is very, very heavy, and there are limits to what normal coil springs can handle. It seems air springs are being reserved for the Denali and the Hummer models, though the Hummers are the only ones to combine them with off-road tires. At least the chunky tires give you more confidence steering the AT4's nose toward those bumps, even if traveling over them will be bouncier and louder than in the Hummers. The additional trim is expected to help GMC smash its U.S. sales record in 2024, says Patrick Finnegan, senior marketing manager for GMC trucks. That includes EVs which are up 183 percent compared with a year ago; helped by Hummer's best quarter to date to start the year. The GM electric trucks combined (GMC and Chevy) sold about 9,560 through May, just shy of the Ford -150 Lightning at about 10,800, and the Tesla Cybertruck at almost 10,100, according to MotorIntelligence. The AT4 family continues to grow business without cannibalizing on the other trim levels. It accounts for about 21 percent of total GMC sales, bringing in younger, higher-income buyers who tend to stay loyal to the brand, Finnegan says. Adding the AT4 should continue this trend.

GMC Sierra EV Review 2025

It's the Sierra EV, the Hummer-spawned electric pickup General Motors has ginned up to rival the likes of the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Rivian R1T and, well, that's it, really. The young segment is thin on any serious offerings, with automakers struggling with the 'why' as much as the 'how'. Ford focuses on folks looking for a work truck while Rivian's got the techy status-seekers covered, so where does the Sierra EV slot in? Frankly, wherever it can fit. Sure is a big'un. You're not kidding. Coming in at nearly 9,000lbs and 19.45ft (almost 6m) long, the mighty Sierra is as expansive as the geological mass it's named after. And it is mighty. It has to be, if only to just get itself around. Advertisement - Page continues below The three flavors of Sierra EV are configured with three battery sizes, all of which connect to a dual motor setup – one for the front and back – which dictate the power on offer. The good-better-best structure for these batteries is here called the 119kWh standard, 170kWh extended, and the205 kWh max range. Good? Let's continue. The entry-level Elevation trim has 645hp while the mid-tier AT4 model has either 625 or 725hp on tap, and the Denali tops out at 760hp with the max range battery. Available torque between the models and battery configurations is between 765 to 785lb ft. All the while, the Sierra EV has an estimated range of 410 miles at a minimum , while GM's best guess at maximum range is 478. Either way you slice it, that's a hefty handful of miles. We're guessing all the usual caveats come with this? Oh of course. Drive like mad, tow a house, etc, and you'll see a drop-off, but the ample amount of range here means it can take the hit. We started our day in an AT4 with a max range battery partially charged to around 80 percent, giving us about 380 miles to play with. By the end of the day, driving over 120 miles to and from our off-roading spot and running it through several loops with the AC blasting the whole time… we only used 15 percent of our supply. Advertisement - Page continues below Fairly comfortable, if a little disconnected. Models like the AT4 eschew the air suspension option in favor of a more durable conventional coil setup, and you're not left feeling like you're missing out. A massive amount of power on demand means the Sierra is quick to respond to inputs. Engage max power and the burly truck will punch forward fast enough to send a headrest into a passenger's melon with the force of a boxing champ. That said, the sheer weight of the truck catches up just as fast, dragging it down almost as soon as it gets going. Road driving is otherwise unobtrusive, save for the visibility which is an unavoidable issue with the mammoth pickup. Thankfully the Sierra is sorted out with a number of cameras and sensors to assist in navigating the world immediately surrounding you. Both on the road and off, rear-wheel steering works mechanical magic to seemingly bend the car around objects, and of course it's pre-packaged with Super Cruise for hands-free highway riding. What about off-road? GM is bringing the off-road-ready AT4 line to the Sierra EV this year, so that means this is the truckiest version available for dirty excursions. Coil suspension, four-wheel steering and a 'terrain' drive mode that's essentially one-pedal driving for rock-crawling. Given its weight, taking surface conditions into account is more critical than ever lest it sink into the soil, forever entrenched or push loose earth away from underneath it. READ MORE GMC Hummer EV review: watch the 1,000bhp EV put through its paces 'But Top Gear,' you whine, 'surely heavy vehicles have traveled off-road before, why so snarky here?' Because the vehicles you're thinking of often have big knobby wheels or tank treads. This does not. What other neat tricks? To quickly rattle off a few, there's the maximum towing capacity of 12,300lbs, 800 volt DC fast charging which means it can regain 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes on the right charger, vehicle-to-home charging if needed, and a nifty midgate that opens up to extend the cargo space to almost 11 feet. Oh and crabwalk! It can walk like a crab. Sort of. 'It's constantly trying to get around itself… before it can be the thing you need it to be' The Sierra EV is an impressive machine manifested from the ambitious exercise of overlapping two genres of vehicles that are often at opposition. GMC's take supplies the tech, capability and range demanded by both EV and truck nuts (not those truck nuts) rather successfully, but even after experiencing it for ourselves, we're still chewing on if it was worth the effort. In short, it's constantly trying to get around itself in one way or another before it can be the thing you need it to be. While the models with the coil suspension provide much-needed ruggedness and reliability to tackle its truck duties, its weight is a critical factor in where you plan to take it. Additionally, its gluttonous amount of miles is what you'd expect given you're carrying around a slab of batteries, you just can't help but wonder if there was a better way to achieve the same results. Still, it does what GMC says it will do, for whomever that may be.

Hamas announces ambush on 'Israeli' forces in Jabalia

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced Thursday that its fighters carried out a complex ambush targeting Israeli Occupation Forces in the eastern Jabalia area of northern Gaza last Sunday. In a statement, the group said its fighters destroyed an Israeli Occupation 'Namer' armored personnel carrier using a 'Yassin 105' shell and a 'Shawaz' explosive device, reportedly resulting in casualties among the vehicle's crew. After an 'Israeli' rescue force intervened and began to withdraw, Al-Qassam fighters detonated a powerful explosive device targeting a military 'Hummer' jeep, leading to further casualties. The fighters then engaged the remaining 'Israeli' troops in a direct firefight using light weapons. The statement also claimed that when an Israeli Occupation 'Yasur' helicopter attempted to land to evacuate the wounded, it came under heavy gunfire from Al-Qassam fighters, forcing it to retreat without completing the evacuation.

2026 GMC Hummer EV SUV Review, Pricing, and Specs

Overview Now under GMC's stewardship, the Hummer brand is not shy about being extra. As such, the Hummer EV SUV goes big in some notable ways: mega horsepower numbers, tons of ground clearance and suspension travel, and a heap of tech features aimed at serious off-roading. Plus, everything about it simply looks imposing. Riding on a shorter wheelbase than its pickup sibling, the EV SUV is made even more maneuverable with four-wheel steering that enables the trick CrabWalk mode, which also has benefits when parallel parking. With range estimates topping out above 300 miles, this five-seat SUV has the ability to charge up quickly and plenty of juice to take the path less taken or handle a long road trip—if you can resist the urge to floor it everywhere. What's New for 2026? The big news for the 2026 Hummer EV SUV is more power (as if it needed it), but we don't yet know how much more. While the Hummer EV Pickup 3X's output jumps to 1160 horsepower from an even 1000, GMC hasn't released power figures for the 3X SUV, which currently sits at 830 horsepower. The 2026 Hummers get a new four-wheel-steering mode called King Crab that's supposed to enhance off-road maneuverability. And because the new feature is implemented in software, it can be added to prior-year Hummer EVs through an over-the-air update. GMC is also adding a Carbon Fiber Edition with—you guessed it—carbon-fiber exterior trim as well as full-carbon wheels that help drop the claimed 60-mph time to 2.8 seconds. It's available on the 3X trim and comes only in Magnus Gray Matte paint with a Velocity Ember interior color scheme. The updated Hummers are also now capable of bidirectional charging, targeting either another vehicle or a home. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 GMC Hummer EV SUV is expected to start around $100,000 and go up to $108,000 depending on the trim and options. Hummer EV2X $100,000 (est) Hummer EV3X $108,000 (est) 0 $25k $50k $75k $100k $125k $150k $175k We'd stick with the EV2X, as its options are identical to the pricier EV3X's. The difference comes down to power, with the EV3X getting an extra motor that helps generate a lot more horsepower. The EV3X also comes with torque vectoring four-wheel drive. EV Motor, Power, and Performance The EV2X has a dual-motor setup that generates 570 horsepower and what GM claims is 7400 pound-feet of torque. The EV3X has a trio of motors (one up front and two out back) with a claimed 830 ponies and 11,500 pound-feet. However, we've already explained why those incredible torque claims are misleading. Compared with the pickup truck, the SUV has a shorter wheelbase (126.7 inches versus 135.6), which should make it more maneuverable in parking situations and out on the trails. It also inherits our favorite off-road goodies from the truck version, including four-wheel steering with CrabWalk and an adjustable air suspension with Extract mode that can raise it six inches. GMC also pulls at our heartstrings with a full-size spare tire mounted on the rear gate. Plus, there's an optional Extreme Off-Road package that brings special hardware that includes 18-inch wheels on 35-inch all-terrain tires, extra underbody protection, low-mounted cameras for improved visibility while maneuvering, enhanced axles with heavy-duty components, a locking front differential, and rear motors that can electronically mimic a locked diff. 0–60-MPH Times In our testing, the most powerful Hummer EV SUV hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, which is seriously quick for any machine, let alone one this big and heavy. It's likely to get even quicker thanks to the as-yet-undisclosed power boost coming for the 2026 3X model, especially if it's the new Carbon Fiber Edition fitted with composite wheels. View Photos GMC Range, Charging, and Battery Life We don't yet have numbers for the 2026 model, but the EPA estimates the 2025 Hummer EV SUV maxes out at 315 miles of range, with a low of 282 miles when equipped with mud terrain tires. We only saw 250 miles of range from its 170-kWh battery pack in our 75-mph highway test. Recharging can be quick, however. The SUV's 800-volt architecture gains 100 miles of range in 14 minutes using a DC fast-charger. In our testing, the Hummer SUV required 128 minutes to charge from 10 to 90 percent and averaged a pull of 78 kilowatts. Otherwise, GMC says that a level 2 charger replenishes the pack at up to 19.2 kilowatts, providing 30 miles of range in an hour. Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe The EPA hasn't released any fuel economy information for the 2026 Hummer EV SUV yet, but the most efficient 2025 model earned ratings of 59 MPGe city, 46 MPGe highway, and 53 MPGe combined. MPGe stands for miles per gallon of gas equivalent, an EPA metric that estimates PHEV and EV vehicle fuel efficiency. For more information about the Hummer EV SUV's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo The interior of the Hummer EV SUV is part rugged and part sci-fi. Its three-dimensional dashboard boasts both vertical and horizontal air vents and a pair of large displays that include a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Rather than frustrate users for the sake of appearances, the Hummer has lots of hard buttons and physical switchgear, including a thick T-shaped shifter and a rotary drive-mode selector on the center console. Some interior materials feel a bit too utilitarian; those lower down on the dash and door panels look and feel out of place in a vehicle this expensive. Another defining feature of the Hummer's cabin is its available removable roof panels. Called the Infinity Roof, the system allows users to lift off the four transparent Sky Panels and the I-bar above the front-seat passengers. Along with storage under the load floor, the SUV Hummer boasts an expansive 82 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat folded, but the high cargo floor makes it tough to load heavy items. View Photos GMC Infotainment and Connectivity The Hummer's cutting-edge electric technology is complemented by a large 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and extensive connectivity options. The system can handle navigation, both on- and off-road. A 14-speaker Bose sound system comes standard, as does a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot and a wireless smartphone charging pad. The SUV Hummer is also available with a 6.0-kW onboard generator that can be used to power all sorts of equipment and even charge other EVs. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features The Hummer EV SUV comes with an enhanced version of GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving system, as well as a host of driver-assistance technology that currently graces many mainstream models. For more information about the GMC Hummer EV SUV's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include: Standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist Standard adaptive cruise control Warranty and Maintenance Coverage The Hummer EV SUV comes with a similar warranty to other General Motors products, which means three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage and five-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage.
