Gigi Paris breaks silence on how Sydney Sweeney dating rumors fueled Glen Powell split

Gigi Paris breaks silence on how Sydney Sweeney dating rumors fueled Glen Powell split Show Caption Hide Caption Glen Powell reveals 'mental health' reason he left LA for Austin Glen Powell, while promoting his new film "Hit Man," tells USA TODAY's Brian Truitt why he moved back to Austin, Texas, from Los Angeles. If you were on the internet during the "Anyone but You" press tour, it was hard to make it two scrolls without running into a theory about Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney dating. The co-stars, both engaged to other people at the time, were being "shipped" left and right as photos emerged of the two on set looking cozy (a likely thing for two rom-com stars to be mid-shoot), and neither party opted to shut down the rumors. A time-honored tradition in Hollywood, the fervor around the possibility of a real-life romance drove box office sales for the fake romance. But it wasn't without collateral damage. Glen Powell admits Sydney Sweeney affair rumors 'worked wonderfully' for 'Anyone But You' In 2023, Powell and his fiancée, Gigi Paris, called it quits. Now, Paris is speaking out about how the movie contributed to their downfall. Speaking to host Emma Paige on the "Too Much" podcast June 10, Paris said she first became aware of the rumors online and told Powell, "the whole world is watching" and to "proceed with caution, please." He didn't receive that well, she said, and the relationship began to deteriorate from there. She revealed she was once scheduled to meet him in Australia, where "Anyone but You" was filming, when Powell called to tell her, "The producers and I have discussed that I think it's best that you don't come to visit." 'Anyone But You': Glen Powell calls Sydney Sweeney the 'Miss Congeniality of Australia' "I think that's when I just also fell out of love," she said, explaining that she broke it off with him shortly after, only to later learn that he and Sweeney had been encouraging the speculation to help with the film. "The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry. Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry," Powell said in an interview with the New York Times that published a year after their split. "That's people wanting what's on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart." "I don't know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship," Paris said on the podcast. "I just wanted respect, especially if it's going to be public," she continued, "Like, just don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years, talking about forever with. Just have some decency." Sweeney has since split with fiancé Jonathan Davino, only adding fuel to the still-burning dating rumors between her and Powell.

Glen Powell's Ex Gigi Paris Details What Led to Breakup

Originally appeared on E! Online Glen Powell's ex is not leaving her side of the story unwritten. Nearly two years after the Top Gun: Maverick actor and Sydney Sweeney's infamous will-they-won't-they flirtationship amid filming their romantic comedy Anyone But You, Gigi Paris—who was dating Glen at the time—shared the moment she realized things were not going to work out for them. 'I got a phone call from him right about when I was going to go to Australia to work,' the model said on the Too Much podcast June 10. 'I had my visa, which took me much longer than I anticipated—meanwhile all this s--t was coming out on the internet.' And while Gigi, who didn't reference her ex or Sydney by name during the interview, felt relieved she was finally going to Australia where he was filming the rom-com, Glen felt differently. As she noted of one of their last phone calls, 'He called and said, 'The producers and I have discussed and I think it's best if you don't come to visit.'' More from E! 'I flew across the world to look at him in the face and say, 'I can't do this anymore,'' the 32-year-old said of ending the three-year romance, 'which was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.' Amid the dating rumors that circulated Glen, 36, and his 27-year-old costar—who was engaged to now ex Jonathan Davino at the time—Gigi admitted she felt like she was 'fed to the dogs.' 'I just wanted respect,' she continued. 'Especially if it's gonna be public like, don't make an ass out of me. Don't make a fool out of someone you've been with over three years, talking about forever with. Have some decency. At the end of the day, it was like, 'Well work comes first.' Power to you, that's your priority. I've got to walk away.' Gigi assured, though, that her April 2023 breakup with Glen was not to gain any fame for herself out of the situation. 'It wasn't make-believe and it got to the point where it seemed as though make-believe was more important than the real thing,' she explained. 'It wasn't a way to monetize the breakup, it wasn't a way to twist the story around. I was shattered.' E! News has reached out to Sydney and Glen about Gigi's comments but has not heard back. For his part, while Glen and Sydney admitted to amping up their chemistry for press, the Hit Man star said it was difficult to balance with a breakup. "The only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour,' he told Business Insider in December 2023. 'I was with someone that I really loved and cared about and was trying to kind of make sense of a lot of stuff.' Retta reveals details about 'Parks and Rec' cast group chat

The 'Parks and Recreation' cast will always be family. Retta, who played Donna Meagle on the hit NBC sitcom, exclusively told The Post that the cast is still in touch — and often. 'We have a group text where everyone shares graduations, birthdays, running into old crew members, because everyone ends up working with the crew from the original show, and so whenever we're with somebody else from the crew, we send pictures,' she said. 9 Retta in Season 4 of 'Parks and Recreation.' ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection 9 Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Amy Poehler, Jim O'Heir, Rashida Jones, Chris Pratt, Retta, Rob Lowe in 'Parks and Rec.' ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection Retta, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Paul Schneider and Jim O'Heir starred in the mockumentary series about a fictional Indiana town's Parks Department. Retta, who spoke to The Post about the new season of HGTV's 'Ugliest House in America,' confirmed that she would 'of course' do a 'Parks and Recreation' reunion project. 9 Retta speaks at the 'Hit Man' screening in New York in June 2024. 'She goes, 'This was 10 years ago today,' and then we all just go on a rant about whatever that was about,'' the 63-year-old shared. O'Heir added: 'It's just personal. It's people who, to this day, are good friends, and we love each other.' 9 Rashida Jones, Amy Poehler, Retta in 'Parks and Rec.' ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection Last July, Jones, 49, confirmed on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' that the text chain was 'very active.' Meanwhile, Scott, 52, said in a 2022 interview with Access Hollywood, 'Everybody's in pretty close contact. It's a tight group.' Earlier this year, Jones told GoldDerby that she's 'ready any time' to join a 'Parks and Recreation' revival. 9 Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Nick Offerman, Retta, Aziz Ansari in 'Parks and Recreation' Season 6. ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection 'Oh man, I hope sometime soon,' said Jones, who played Ann Perkins. 'I know [creator] Mike Schur was like, 'There has to be a reason for us to do it. We can't just do it.' But I would love that.' Schur, for his part, addressed the possibility of a revival with Variety in 2019. 'I don't feel like we left anything on the table. I would never ever say never,' Schur stated. 'The chance to do it again, should it arise, would be incredible, but we would only do it if we all felt like there was something compelling us to do it.' 'If one single person said no, we wouldn't do it,' he added.

Hollywood star Adria Arjona: Acting school save me

Adria Arjona feels she's been "saved" by acting school. The 33-year-old actress studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City during her teenage years, and Adria relished the experience, as she learned to "express" herself through acting. The film star told Collider: "Acting school kind of saved me. "I had a pretty rough upbringing. There were parts there that were not the happiest, and acting really came in and saved me and taught me how to express myself through what I do." Adria was initially unsure what she wanted to do in her career. However, her dad thought she was perfectly suited to acting. The Hollywood star shared: "Every movie made me want to be something else or learn a new task. One day, my dad was like, 'I don't know exactly what you think you're going to be, but I think you might be an actor.'" Adria has starred in a host of high-profile projects in recent years, including 'Hit Man', 'Blink Twice' and 'Pacific Rim Uprising'. And the actress has always embraced the opportunity to "play different characters" on screen. She explained: "Every job you take, you're telling a story to the world of the kind of artist that you are, so you have to stick to your guns and be really truthful to what you believe in. "It's mostly, also, for me, to not be bored, right? To play different characters and to show the world that I'm more than just one thing." Despite this, Adria previously admitted that she'd like to be more "strategic" in her career decisions. She told Empire: "I wish I was more of a strategic actor when it comes to making choices. But I'm just more excited by the women that I get to embody." Adria starred alongside Glen Powell in the 2023 rom-com 'Hit Man', and the actress recalled quickly developing a strong "chemistry" with her co-star. Speaking about her initial meeting with Glen, Adria told Empire: "It was supposed to be a one-hour meeting. We ended up talking for five hours. "Chemistry comes from trust, and I think from our first meeting I just knew I could trust [Glen]. We created a space for us to play and be weird and sexy and funny." 'Hit Man' was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Richard Linklater, whose previous directing credits include 'Boyhood', 'School of Rock', and 'Everybody Wants Some!!'. And Adria still remembers feeling anxious about meeting the filmmaker for the first time. Recalling details of their first-ever Zoom call, the movie star shared: "My hands were sweaty. I was really trying to play it cool and that lasted for about ten minutes."
