Chance Hymas injures knee in High Point Nationals incident

Chance Hymas dabbed his right knee on the final lap of Moto 2 of the High Point Nationals and will be evaluated this week. Honda HRC has not yet provided a timeline for his return. Tom Vialle passed Hymas on the final lap of the second race, and with that move, Hymas dropped to fourth in the overall standings. It is unlikely he would have been able to conduct his podium interview in any event. Hymas rode directly to the Honda HRC hauler and was helped off the bike. Advertisement Hymas has a history of ACL injuries, but his previous two knee injuries were to his left knee. "All we know right now is that his right knee, definitely something's going on there," Lars Lindstrom said on the SMX Insider post-race show. "Unfortunately, we know a lot about these injuries with the other riders that we've worked with and then, obviously, Jett [Lawrence] this year. so, I'm not really sure exactly, the prognosis, of course. It seems like the ACL seems intact, but we've said that before. So, right now, we just know that his right knee is definitely injured and we're going to have to go see a specialist and see exactly what is going on." Hymas won his second Pro Motocross overall the previous week with a perfect round in which he was fastest qualifier in both sessions, earned holeshots in both motos, and led every lap on his way to a 1-1 sweep. High Point did not go as well. Hymas finished fifth in the first moto before recovering to ride second in most of Moto 2. Advertisement "It was a rough day for me at High Point—I went 5-3 in the motos, but on the last lap of the second moto, I dabbed my good leg, and now I'm dealing with a lot of pain in my right knee," Hymas said in a news release. Motocross 2025 450 results, highlights, finish at High Point: Jett Lawrence wins overall, Eli Tomac Moto 2

Jett Lawrence and Eli Tomac split the motos at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, but a dominant performance in the first race by Jett as Tomac struggled made the difference in the overall. Jett scored his fourth Motocross win of the season and continues to race virtually unchallenged in the outdoor series. The Moto 2 gate drop and rain fell at the same time, which did what the riders have been unable to. Challenged by conditions, Jett tiptoed through the first corner and was running as low as 10th on Lap 1. He slowly worked his way through the field until he found his comfort level and then methodically picked off the competition. Persistent roost in the first seven laps forced Jett to use all of his tear-offs with a quarter of the scheduled distance remaining. That might have required him to pull into the pits for a goggle change, had it not been for a red flag that waved with seven minutes still on the clock. Jett moved into the third position with one lap to spare, and combined with his Moto 1 win, he scored the overall victory by one point. Jett finished four seconds ahead of Aaron Plessinger and 12 seconds ahead of Justin Cooper, so his third-place result might have been in question if he was forced to pit. Click here for a recap of High Point Jett's good fortune was bad for his brother Hunter Lawrence. Finishing second in both motos, Hunter had enough points to score the overall victory until the final credited lap, when Jett passed Plessinger to score one point more than Hunter. After finishing fifth in the Hangtown Motocross Classic and the Thunder Valley Nationals, Hunter was undoubtedly pleased to be back on the podium. Tomac rocketed to the lead as the rain fell on Moto 2 and rode unchallenged until lightning shortened the race. His fifth-place finish in the first moto came back to haunt him in the overall, especially when he reflected on finishing one second out of third. With those two positions, Tomac would have scored the overall on a tiebreaker. This is the same podium fans saw in the season opener at Fox Raceway. Relive Moto 1 Plessinger kept his streak of moto top-fives alive with a third-place result in Moto 1 and fourth in Moto 2. He took the lead in the first race when Jett stalled his bike, but lost pace in the closing laps after pressing hard to keep up with Jett. Cooper also swept the top five in his two High Point races with results of fourth in Moto 1 and fifth in Moto 2. If he continues to put himself in a position to win, he could capitalize if Jett ever stumbles. Snapchat used to plan deadly Catawba County party shooting, search warrants reveal

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Investigators believe a deadly mass shooting at a house party in Catawba County was not random, and now, newly unsealed search warrants reveal how social media and cell phones played a role in planning the violence. The shooting happened on June 1, 2025, at a large house party on Walnut Acres Drive, where nearly 100 people attended. More than 80 shots were fired, killing one person and injuring at least 11 others. PREVIOUS: Ninth arrest made in Catawba County mass shooting case According to the search warrants, suspects used Snapchat to talk about the attack both before and after it happened. One of the suspects, Garon Killian, allegedly told others ahead of time that he planned to 'air it out,' a phrase witnesses said meant he intended to 'open fire.' Investigators now believe this shooting was tied to a criminal gang network. During interviews with authorities, Killian said he, along with Toland Huff Jr., Ke'Andre Mack, Zachary Bates, and Izaiah Mitchell, were all involved in gang activity. Gang activity suspected in Catawba County mass shooting as four suspects face judge He reportedly admitted they often used their phones to talk about illegal operations, and he told agents he used his phone to discuss the shooting before and after it happened. The warrants also detail a meeting that happened at a Waffle House on May 30, just days before the shooting. FBI sources said Killian and Huff met with others there and discussed the upcoming party, warning that if Raekwon Craig, who they called 'Leek,' hosted the event, 'they better watch out.' That story was backed up by another witness, who told the State Bureau of Investigation that she was with Killian and Huff at a house in Lenoir before the shooting. She said Killian mentioned the party and told them to 'scope it out.' Shots, screams heard on neighbor's security camera down the street from Catawba County mass shooting investigation After the shooting, Killian and several others reportedly fled to Charlotte. He later admitted to handling a High Point handgun believed to have been used in the attack, court documents state. Now, law enforcement is digging into the suspects' cell phones and digital footprints, asking for everything from GPS data and IP addresses to messages and app usage, from May 1 to June 4. Investigators believe access will help understand the full scope of who was involved. So far, nine people have been arrested in connection with the shooting. Charges range from attempted first-degree murder to helping minors obtain alcohol: Garon Killian, attempted first-degree murder Toland Huff Jr., attempted first-degree murder Izaiah Mitchell, attempted first-degree murder Ke'Andre Mack, attempted first-degree murder Zachary Bates, attempted first-degree murder Charles Rodell Kincaid III, attempted first-degree murder Zoe Braswell, accessory after the fact Raekwon Craig, aiding underage alcohol possession Patrick Tolbert, aiding underage alcohol possession Police said this investigation remains open and ongoing.
