BLACKPINK's Jisoo's absence from Omniscient Reader: The Prophet's briefing sparks criticism against YG Ent, know why

Omniscient Reader: The Prophet is a movie where the lines between fiction and reality blur. Recently, a production briefing session for the film was announced. However, fans were disappointed to learn that Jisoo would not be attending the event, as per a formal notice. This news has sparked frustration among fans, who attribute her absence to their agency's alleged lack of support or poor handling of her schedule. Jisoo to not attend the Omniscient Reader: The Prophet's event When the production briefing session for Omniscient Reader: The Prophet was officially announced, fans quickly noticed that BLACKPINK 's Jisoo was not included in the list of attendees. Given the significance of this event, which brings together the entire cast, fans had been looking forward to seeing Jisoo alongside the likes of Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Min Ho, Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, and Nana. The absence of Jisoo's name from the list, without providing a reason for the same, generated frustration and speculation among fans. The upcoming fantasy action will mark the big-screen debut for Jisoo, making her attendance at its events crucial. However, her not being a part of the Omniscient Reader: The Prophet's first major official event made fans upset with her agencies, YG Entertainment, and Blissoo. They took to criticizing YGE, labeling it "nasty" and arguing that Jisoo's group activities never seem to prioritize her individual schedule. They also highlighted the perceived double standard, noting that Jisoo often attends events for other industry colleagues but wasn't present for her own project's significant milestone. Notably, Jisoo had recently made time to participate in the press event for the movie Hi.5, to support her friend GOT7's Park Jinyoung. Given this, fans found it puzzling that she couldn't spare a few hours from her group schedule to attend the Omniscient Reader: The Prophet production briefing session. Contrary to the above-mentioned opinions, some fans considered it Jisoo's personal decision not to be part of the event, with no interference from YGE. Some felt that even if the agency barred her from the activity, that was justifiable due to BLACKPINK's upcoming comeback preparation.

On May 26, Park Jinyoung and the other main cast members of Hi.5 attended a press event of the upcoming film in Seoul. The event became even more special when BLACKPINK's Jisoo and NCT's Doyoung showed their support for the idol-actor. While Jisoo was there in person, Doyoung expressed his backing through Instagram stories, despite not being able to attend. The genuine and affectionate friendship that the three shared over the years captured the hearts of fans. GOT7's Jinyoung, BLACKPINK's Jisoo and NCT's Doyoung have been friends for years now, since their time as MCs for the weekly music show Inkigayo, from February 2017 to February 2018. As Jinyoung's long-shelved film is finally set to hit the South Korean theatres on May 30, 2025, his JinJiDo besties supported him in their own ways. For those unfamiliar with the term JinJiDo, it was formed with the initials of the trio– a nickname affectionately given by fans. BLACKPINK's Jisoo's support for GOT7's Jinyoung Jisoo attended the Hi.5 press event and as per fans, sat in a seat where bestie Jinyoung could easily spot her. She took a photo of the event, featuring a big poster of the movie. The picture shared on her Instagram story focused on Jinyoung, who was seen talking about the project and allegedly smiling at Jisoo. Fans shared the photo on social media, with comments like "this makes me so happy." Some fans also shared a picture of the back of a woman wearing a blue and white-striped oversized shirt, baggy jeans and a red cap, claiming it to be Jisoo. Some even wanted to see the duo in an acting project together, even if it was a cameo role of Jinyoung's in Jisoo's upcoming drama, Boyfriend on Demand. NCT's Doyoung's support for GOT7's Jinyoung Fans went "my jinjido" as Doyoung compensated for his absence in the Hi.5 event through his online promotion of the movie. He shared a shot of Jinyoung from the film along with the link to its teaser. Doyoung's shoutout and Jisoo's visit to the press event demonstrated that the trio's friendship remained unchanged over the years, despite their busy schedules limiting frequent meetups. JinJiDo crumbs was not on our 2025 bingo card, and we're not complaining.

Ahn Jae Hong calls on-screen kiss with Yoo Ah In in Hi5 ‘symbolic' moment of reconciliation, says he ‘approached it with sincerity'

In a film brimming with action, offbeat superpowers, and high-concept drama, it's a quiet, unexpected moment that has audiences buzzing. HI.5, the upcoming fantasy-action comedy directed by Kang Hyoung Chul, has drawn fresh attention, not just for its superhero flair, but for a kissing scene between Yoo Ah In and Ahn Jae Hong that no one saw coming. At a press event held on May 26 in Seoul, the cast and crew gathered to discuss the film. But it was Ahn Jae Hong's reflection on one emotionally charged moment that drew the spotlight: a kiss shared between his character and male co-star Yoo Ah In. 'It was a symbolic moment showing the emotional reconciliation between two previously antagonistic characters," Ahn Jae Hong shared with quiet conviction.'I approached it with sincerity, understanding its importance in the character arc," she added. It's a small but significant moment in a story otherwise packed with genre tropes, and it's sparked curiosity for reasons that go beyond marketing hype. For director Kang Hyoung Chul, the scene was always part of the vision. He chose not to comment directly on the media's fixation with the kiss, instead emphasizing the collaborative nature of the project. 'This film is the product of many people's dedication. Every scene, every moment, was built with care,' he noted. About Hi.5 Set in a world where 5 strangers develop inexplicable powers after receiving organ transplants from the same donor, Hi.5 isn't your typical superhero movie. The film leans more into its characters' psychological shifts than flashy battles. Yoo Ah In plays Gi Dong, a laid-back loner who gains the ability to control electronics. Ahn Jae Hong's Ji Seong is a struggling writer grappling with sudden inner transformation. Yoo Ah In's Legal Issue Yoo Ah In's ongoing legal situation involving drug abuse allegations has cast uncertainty over the film's release. Despite this, the studio is moving ahead, and the film is slated to hit theaters on May 30.
