I'm a sleep tech tester and the product I swear by for falling asleep fast is $26.99 in Amazon sale

As a sleep tech writer, I've spent the last 10 months searching the market for, and testing, the latest snooze-improving innovations. This has included gadgets and gizmos from smart sleep masks and sleep headbands to sleep trackers, top-rated sunrise alarm clocks and this year's best smart beds. But there's only one gadget I absolutely can't sleep without: a red light clip that attaches to my book. Dutifully obeying our sleep editor's advice around following a nighttime routine for better sleep, reading a few pages in the evening has become non-negotiable for me, and this clip light completes my bedtime routine. In current sleep sales, you can save 10% on the Szokled reading light clip at Amazon. This nudges the price from $29.99 to $26.99 — a small price to pay for a device that can help you cut out tossing and turning and fall asleep fast. And even better, you may be offered a 15% off coupon that takes the price down even further. Szokled Red Light Clip: was $29.99 now $26.99 at AmazonThe Szokled clip light has two modes: red light and warm light. The red light is ideal for pre-bedtime reading, protecting the eyes and bolstering your ability to fall asleep fast. While the warm light can create a cosy atmosphere any time of day. It comes with a timer, meaning the light will automatically turn off after you fall asleep, helping you snooze peacefully while saving energy. Amazon promises this red light clip has a 10-hour battery life and it's equipped with a USB-C port for convenient charging. Watch out for a 15% off coupon when you order! Red light exposure positively influences sleep onset, sleep duration and overall sleep efficiency by stimulating the production of melatonin, the all-important sleep-inducing hormone. Melatonin is responsible for making us feel sleepy. While bright white light suppresses this hormone, warm red light prompts the brain, specifically the pineal gland, to release it. So if you already have one of the best mattresses but you're still not getting enough sleep, a shortage of melatonin could be to blame. In fact, light is a key circadian cue and you can regulate your circadian rhythm with carefully-timed light exposure. Specifically, evening red light exposure and morning sunlight exposure helps your body get used to producing sleep-wake hormones at the right time of day so you fall asleep fast at night and wake up refreshed in the morning. What I really love about a red light clip is that it's lightweight and portable enough to take with me wherever I go. I stay away from home one night a week for work, and packing up my other sleep tech, namely my beloved Eight Sleep Pod 4 and Hatch sunrise alarm clock, wouldn't be so practical. Therefore, I rely on a red light clip to help me unwind in unfamiliar environments, and after six months of using it it's yet to fail me. I also recommend using a red light LED face mask as part of your bedtime routine if you're looking for a gadget that can help you wind down at night while taking care of your skin.

Mayor Karen Bass Lifts Downtown LA Curfew, but Its Restaurants Are Struggling

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has lifted the ongoing curfew in Downtown Los Angeles. The curfew went into effect on June 10 amid ongoing anti-ICE protests in the area, and originally ran from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. One day before lifting the curfew, on June 16, Mayor Bass announced that the curfew would commence at 10 p.m. The curfew applied to about a one-mile swatch of Downtown Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, including the Arts District and Chinatown. Even as the curfew lifts, restaurants in the area have had to bear the financial brunt of the last week. Some temporarily closed during the curfew period, while others shifted their hours from evening to daytime to remain open. And since the curfew began with no end date announced, operators remained unsure how long it would last. 'Last week was rough and annoying to say the least,' says Akarad 'AK' Tachavatcharapa, the owner of Hatch DTLA, a Japanese tapas restaurant in the Bloc. He says that throughout the protests, the area around him remained peaceful, leaving some restaurant owners to question if the week-long curfew had been necessary at all. Over the typically busy Father's Day weekend, Hatch geared up to start business at its usual 5 p.m. time, but, upon receiving curfew notification, Tachavatcharapa realized he couldn't open; the restaurant lost all of its weekend business. Tachavatcharapa says the day-to-day updates, which often arrived in the late afternoon, worsened the situation. 'We had to wait and be on standby to update our operation hours daily,' he says. 'It felt like the start of COVID 2020 all over again, with unclear directions.' Just down the street sits 71 Above, a fine dining restaurant on the top floor of the U.S. Bank Tower. Owner Emil Eyvazoff says he saw curfew change to 10 p.m. as a positive step. Still, he says, the neighborhood is struggling and has not fully recovered from the effects of COVID-19. 'Many of the surviving businesses are still on the ropes, and this disruption risked even more businesses closing,' Eyvazoff says. Most of the protests in Downtown Los Angeles, which began on June 6 in response to ICE conducting large-scale immigration raids, have been centered around the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building at the edge of Little Tokyo. While some property damage has been reported, the protests remain largely peaceful and confined to a small area of Downtown. Courtney Kaplan, co-owner of Camelia, says that the Arts District has been quiet throughout the protests. The restaurant is usually only open for dinner, but had to pivot to lunch service for the first time beginning Friday, June 13. The daytime hours ran through the weekend, before shifting back to abbreviated evening hours on June 16. 'I think the perception that things have been hectic is inaccurate and it's really hurting business,' Kaplan wrote in a statement to Eater. 'We are so grateful for all of the support that we've seen and just want to encourage people to come and dine with us and others in the area.' Throughout the first week of the curfew, Bass quietly issued a handful of updates that resulted in further confusion for restaurants and other businesses. After a performance of Hamlet was cancelled at the Mark Taper Forum, Bass issued an exception for ticketed events that ended after 8 p.m. Later, an additional exception was added, permitting people to exit the curfew zone after 8 p.m. if they were leaving a restaurant or a business. However, neither of these updates was widely announced, and restaurants were again caught trying to adapt at the last minute. Steep LA, a modern teahouse in Chinatown with hours that extend into the evening as Steep After Dark, tweaked its hours to comply with the curfew. Co-owner Lydia Lin says that the 8 p.m. curfew was apparent at Chinatown restaurants. 'No one came to Chinatown after 6 p.m.,' she says. After hearing about the curfew being extended later, Steep After Dark planned to close one hour earlier than usual this weekend, at 10 p.m. 'It's not back to normal, but it's a step in the right direction,' Lin says. 'We're hoping it keeps moving that way.' Even during the daytime, the number of customers at Downtown Los Angeles restaurants has greatly diminished, and dining rooms are steeped in quiet. The Los Angeles Times reports that during what would usually be peak hours, Grand Central Market sits empty. Staff writer Stephanie Breijo reports that some Angelenos may be avoiding the food hall due to ICE raids, while others are concerned about protests. The streets of the area are quiet too, as fruteros, taqueros, and other vendors have been staying inside due to fear of ICE raids. The toll of the curfew comes during what has already been a devastating year for Los Angeles restaurants. Many have not fully recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic and 2023 writers' strikes, as well as the impact of the 2025 fires in Altadena and Pacific Palisades. While the end of the curfew is a promising move, Los Angeles restaurants will likely continue to face challenges in the weeks to come. On June 15, President Trump called for ICE to expand efforts to 'detain and deport' in cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York; a day later, his administration removed the exception for restaurants, farms, and hotels, allowing raids to resume. Save $30 on the sunrise alarm clock customers 'cannot live without' in early Amazon Prime Day deal

No matter the time of year, I'm reliant on a quality sunrise alarm clock when it comes to getting a good night's sleep and resisting the snooze button. Packed with a wide variety of sleep sounds, a sunset simulation and gentle wake up sounds, a Hatch alarm clock is my digital alarm clock of choice. Hatch is the maker of the best sunrise alarm clock we've tested and you can now save $30 on the Restore 3 sunrise alarm clock at Hatch, bringing it down to the lowest price we've seen since its release in a pre Prime Day deal. The Restore 3 replaced the well-loved Hatch Restore 2, bringing 60 plus new sleep sounds for no extra cost. If you're looking for a device that can help you fall asleep fast and wake up with ease, the Hatch Restore 3 has you covered. You can drift off to a library of sleep sounds including guided meditations and sleep stories and use it as a soothing night light. Come morning, you'll be woken up gradually by a warm light and gentle nature sounds (or house music, if that's your jam.) Hatch Restore 3 sunrise alarm clock: was $169.99 now $139.99 at HatchAlthough this is an Amazon Prime Day deal, the Restore 3 is on sale at Hatch directly, alongside Amazon. Wherever you shop, you'll find 18% off all colors of the REstore 3 (available in putty, greige, cocoa and rosy which translates to a saving of $30 dropping the price from $169.99 to $139.99. Compared with other top-performing sunrise alarm clocks, including the Philips SmartSleep ($204.41) and Lumie Bodyclock ($149), that's outstanding value. Plus the Hatch won't ruin your bedroom aesthetic thanks to its stylish design. Do note, however, you'll be tied into a subscription at Hatch costing $4.99 per month. The Hatch Restore 3 boasts 2,339 5-star reviews (out of 3,306 reviews) from verified customers. Its ability to help sleepers unwind at night and feel refreshed in the morning while looking "sleek" and "beautiful" on the nightstand. One customer, an overnight healthcare worker, praises the Hatch for helping align her circadian rhythm even when working irregular shift patterns. They say: "I wake up in a better mood compared to my previous phone alarm clock. And it makes it easier to keep my phone away from my bed and decrease scrolling in bed." Elsewhere, the Hatch Restore 3 has helped customers form a nourishing morning routine. One reviewer, who was once a "chronic snoozer", says they "woke up refreshed, alert, and able to have some ME time reading before work" after one night of using the Restore 3. The sunrise alarm clock's audio quality is another highly-praised feature. What about less agreeable features? Some customers complain about the subscription fee and the fact set-up and customization settings are dependent on a smart phone. Overall, if you're looking to leverage tech for better sleep, the Hatch Restore 3 is great addition to any nighttime and morning routine. And at $139.99 now, it's great value. For reference, smart sleep masks and sleep headbands, which work similarly on improving sleep quality can cost upwards of $200.

30 Walmart Parenting Items So You Feel On Top Of It

A Hatch Rest baby sound machine with so many sound and lighting options, you'll have a blast picking your baby's room ~vibes~. This can also be set to use as an "okay to wake" clock when your kiddo is a little older! Promising review: "Love the wide range of volume, sounds, brightness, and color. I have one kid that prefers his sound quiet and two that like it loud. Third time purchasing this product. I have the Skip Hop sound machines as well, but they don't hold a candle to the Hatch products." —NicolePrice: $59.99 A long-range Dr. Care baby monitor that includes a motion-detecting camera (with temperature and humidity monitoring!), and a view of your snoozing baby that you can see on the monitor or the corresponding phone app. Let this setup effortlessly do the rest of the work of keeping you at ease so you can catch those sweet, sweet Zzzzz's. I got this to replace my first baby monitor that was on the fritz, and as someone who *didn't* have the app ability before, this is a GAME CHANGER. Price: $89.99 A pack of disposable table toppers for airplane seat trays and restaurant tables. These make cleanup so much easier that you won't have to stress about de-sticking fruit snacks from surfaces outside the comfort of your own home. Also, it grows with your kids, so it can turn into a standing center or a table for your toddler! Promising review: "I so badly wish we would've known about this activity center or had this for our first two babies. It is PERFECT! So easy to clean, so many different ways you can arrange the little play toys on the surface, and the best part is that it encourages standing rather than tip-toe jumping! The assembly is incredible, I am so impressed with the design. The colors are not so bright that it's an eyesore for my poor, destroyed living room, but there is still color and life to intrigue my little guy. The seat is wonderful because it is so easy to pop out and clean up, or wash the lining. If I could give this 80 stars, I would. 300% worth the money!" —HaleyPrice: $141 A Baby Trend expedition stroller wagon all the parents at the park will be envious of because it's roomy enough for two whole kids and *all* of the stuff that goes along with them.
