New Lord Voldermort Odds 2025: Here are the 13 favourites to play the role in Harry Potter TV reboot
It's now been nearly 14 years since the eighth and final part of the Harry Potter film series hit cinema screens – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was released in 2011. And it's a remarkable 24 years since the first film in the series was released, introducing the world to the then little-known acting trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Since then three parts of the ' Fantastic Beasts ' series, starring Eddie Redmayne , have been added to the Potterverse. But now fans of the boy wizard have something new to look forward to, with a Harry Potter television series in the works. Streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max) will be making it and last year had an open casting call for young actors from the UK and Ireland to play Harry, Ron and Hermione - with the three young unknowns set to be propelled to global stardom announced last month. They join several actors who have been previously been confirmed to take on the parts of the adult figures of the Potterverse - including such loved figures as Hagrid and Snape. And now another set of casting decisions have been announced - including Hogwarts pupils, teachers, and villains. But there are plenty more big parts up for grabs, including the Dark Lord himself - Lord Voldemort. Here are the 13 actors tipped to success Ralph Fiennes (including Ralph himself) according to 1 . Cillian Murphy - 10/11 The 10/11 hot favourite to play the Dark Lord is Cillian Murphy, who last year won a Best Actor Oscar for his performance in 'Oppenheimer'. He would certainly be a real coup for the casting team. | Getty Images Photo Sales 2 . Tom Hiddleston - 6/4 No stranger to huge franchaises - or with playing baddies - English actor Tom Hiddleston is best known for playing trickster god Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He's 6/4 to become one of the most evil characters in the history of literature. | Getty Images for SXSW London Photo Sales 3 . Rhys Ifans - 7/4 Welsh star Rhys Ifans is the 7/4 second favourite to land the plum role. He's experienced in fantasy films, having appeareed in 'House of the Dragon', and is already part of the Potterverse, having played Xenophilius Lovegood in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1'. | Getty Images Photo Sales 4 . Christian Bale - 2/1 Another Oscar winner (he won for 'The Fighter') is third favourite - Christian Bale is priced at 2/1. All 8 "Harry Potter" Movies, Ranked
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Arguably the most relevant entry in the series, this is the identifier as the one where Harry, his friends, and the franchise as a whole, embrace the young adult audience. From the disturbing injuries of Arthur Weasley to the dramatic death of Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, the series does not look back after this point. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban The point where the series evolves from family entertainment to blockbuster, this entry finds Harry entering the teen years. As he grows over the movie, he finds that things aren't as simple or as clean-cut as he thought when he was younger. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone The one that started it all! Alongside the tropes of children's literature and the handmade quality of the old-school special effects, this also does an excellent job of setting up themes that continue to be important throughout the franchise. From the discovery of a greater world to the Hogwarts dynamics, to even the establishment of death as a theme, it is difficult to imagine a better beginning to the franchise. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 The epic conclusion to the decade-spanning, generation-defining franchise. This does not miss the mark. From everyone gathering together for the last time to fight off the common enemy, to Harry seeing things in a different way for the last time in regard to Snape, to the class clown Neville destroying the snake horcrux, all knots are tied and no loose ends as Harry takes his son to the train at Kings Cross as an adult. All is well. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Mostly the setup to the finale, this plays out as a weird bottle episode-esque blockbuster. Not to say that it's bad. The scene where Harry and Hermione dance together is a warm light amidst the darkness that has enveloped the series at this point. The Deathly Hallows are established through an animated sequence that is a bottle episode within the movie. Finally, the death of Dobby gives this movie the gut punch that it needs to get to the conclusion. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince The slow point of the later Harry Potter movies establishes the fact that even in times of crises, life goes on. Love goes on. Milestones happen. Even amidst all this, incidents from the outside world seep through the bubble of Hogwarts. All of it culminating in the death of the beloved headmaster, Dumbledore. Getting rid of Harry's protector establishes to Harry and the audience that he is now on his own. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Teenage years are awkward. Perhaps someone should have warned Harry before he grew out his hair like that? This is probably the awkward high school movie of the franchise, where Harry has to dance with a girl for the first time and learn to swim. This is a fantasy John Hughes movie if someone had died in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets The tricky second album of the franchise treads on a lot of the same territory as the first movie. However, it's not without its charms. Lockhart is a very entertaining character, and we are introduced to the best house elf, Dobby. Even with its flaws, it's still quite fun. Here's How Daniel Radcliffe is Helping Tom Felton Back into Harry Potter Universe For Broadway: ‘Holding My Hand…'
Draco Malfoy needs the help of Harry Potter; just what fictional world are we living in? Tom Felton's latest revelation has us all surprised with happiness as the 37-year-old spilled about how he's receiving help from his castmate for returning to his most celebrated role. He told PEOPLE how Daniel Radcliffe has been 'holding his hand' through the process. Tom Felton on Broadway Ahead of making his Broadway debut, Tom Felton is spilling all the details about his time with fellow Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, helping him settle into the Draco Malfoy role, once again. Close to a decade and a half after taking his last bow from the role, following the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the actor is all ready to reprise his role of the blonde-haired Slytherin, albeit in his current age, returning to the world of wizards. The play has cast Tom Felton for the Draco Malfoy role in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Owing to this, the actor was spotted at the 2025 Tony Awards, gearing up for his own Broadway debut. That's where the star was asked about receiving support from his fellow magical friends, and he let the tea be spilled about his old school chum Radcliffe. 'Radcliffe has done quite a bit of Broadway, so he's holding my hand and certainly helping me through all the things that are hard to learn.' Tom Felton will wear the green cloak once again, stepping into Draco Malfoy's shoes from November 19. His run as the older version of the character is set to span 19 weeks, going well into the new year, and we're hoping his old pals come to visit. HBO's Harry Potter series On the other hand, HBO is gearing up for its series revival of the JK Rowling books with the role for the three leads, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, being awarded to Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout, respectively.
