He highlighted that continuous innovation and long-term investment in future technologies are essential to this progress. Sheikh Hamdan also expressed confidence in the capabilities of UAE-based companies and entrepreneurs, noting their crucial role in driving the growth of the local space industry and strengthening the country's position as a leading global hub in this strategic field. Sheikh Hamdan also highlighted the space sector as a vital driver of the future and sustainable economic growth. He stressed the UAE's ongoing efforts to build a supportive environment that fosters the growth of national companies and unlock new opportunities for investment and innovation, boosting the country's global competitiveness and leadership in space. The private sector is leading the space scene in the UAE, reaffirming the maturity of national investments that have been established over the past three decades. A number of the UAE-based companies took part in the meeting, representing a wide range of specialisations, including locally developed Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, artificial intelligence and remote sensing, commercial space ecosystem development, edge computing for robotics applications, high-resolution Earth observation via microsatellites, as well as AI systems, robotics, interactive simulation technologies, and reusable space launch systems. Participants shared insights into their current projects, long-term strategies, and future investment plans in support of the national economy. Discussions focused on strengthening public-private collaboration, expanding operations both locally and internationally, and exploring promising opportunities within the UAE's growing space sector—highlighting the private sector's central role in shaping a globally competitive and integrated space industry. Company representatives reaffirmed their commitment to the UAE's space ambitions and outlined plans to expand their operations within the country. They praised the UAE's flexible regulatory framework and advanced infrastructure as key enablers of sustained investment. Attendees also welcomed initiatives such as the Space Economic Zones Programme, which they said play a vital role in enabling collaboration and fostering long-term, sustainable growth across the space ecosystem. Filmed from the wooden boat's deck, the video captures Sheikh Hamdan navigating the creek toward Al Seef Market. There, he paused at spice merchants and local food stalls, sampling regional delicacies and engaging with vendors. The market's blend of restored wind-tower architecture and contemporary boutiques provided the backdrop for the Crown Prince's firsthand exploration of Old Dubai's charisma. Sheikh Hamdan's abra excursion reflects his long-standing commitment to advancing Dubai's transport network, from tram extensions to pioneering 'flying taxi' trials. By choosing a centuries-old water taxi—one of the city's original transit modes—he reinforced the importance of preserving local traditions even as Dubai accelerates toward future-forward mobility solutions. This Eid Al Adha gesture resonated widely. 'It's inspiring to see our Crown Prince travel like any other resident, honoring our roots,' one Instagram user commented. As Dubai continues its rapid development, Sheikh Hamdan's creekside journey served as a reminder that the city's identity still flows from its historic waterways. The Crown Prince of Dubai has a wide range of interests in cycling, running, hunting, skydiving and flying helicopters to diving and hiking, and summiting peaks. Dubai Fitness Challenge in November, sunset yoga session to end event
The organising committee of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) has announced that its ninth edition will take place from 1st to 30th November, coinciding with the 'Year of the Community'. The committee also unveiled a bold, refreshed brand identity, which celebrates its transformative impact on the city's health and wellbeing. The announcement was made at a special gathering held to thank the government entities, schools, corporate entities, partners, fitness establishments and local communities that have helped make the annual event a resounding success. Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council and CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, began the ceremony with gratitude for every individual, organisation, government partner and stakeholder who has helped shape the success of DFC, noting that more than 13 million people have taken part over eight editions. Launched in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, the DFC embodies his vision to transform Dubai into one of the world's most active cities. Driven by this visionary leadership, the initiative's ongoing success supports the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, reinforcing the city's position as a global leader in both business and lifestyle. This year's Challenge will feature a brand new flagship event: Dubai Yoga, which will bring the 30-day Challenge to a close with a sunset yoga session on 30th November. Returning events include the Dubai Ride, presented by DP World on 2nd November; Dubai Stand-Up Paddle on 8th-9th November; and Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, on 23rd November. The 2024 edition saw a record-breaking 2,735,158 participants - a 14 percent increase from 2023. Data from 2024 highlights DFC's lasting impact: 18 percent of participants reported improved physical fitness, 15 percent noted enhanced psychological wellbeing, and 14 percent experienced greater self-esteem and reduced anxiety. UAE committed to empower Emirati entrepreneurs, says Sheikh Hamdan
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, witnessed the launch of the 'UAE Future 50' initiative, featuring a list of future-focused Emirati companies. Jointly developed by the Government Development and the Future Office in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, the initiative is part of the Riyada entrepreneurship ecosystem, which aims to enhance the national startup and innovation landscape. The initiative features 50 promising startups launched by Emirati entrepreneurs across 15 future-focused economic sectors that boost the diversification and resilience of the national economy. These sectors span fintech, healthtech, edtech, HR tech, food and agri-tech, space, cybersecurity, sustainability, renewable energy, smart mobility, advanced and creative industries, legal tech, and the sharing economy. Sheikh Hamdan underscored the UAE leadership's commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and fostering an economic environment that supports startups in future-focused sectors. He noted that Emirati innovators are playing a key role in driving economic diversification, advancing future-focused industries, and strengthening the nation's global competitiveness-efforts that align with the ambitions of 'We the UAE 2031' vision. UAE, Oman begin new chapter in trade, economic cooperation
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, on Monday witnessed the signing of an agreement to develop and operate the first phase of the Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone, located in the Wilayat of Mahadha, Al Buraimi Governorate, in the Sultanate of Oman. The signing took place during the visit of a high-level UAE delegation to Oman led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed. The signing of the agreement, which took place in Muscat, was attended by His Highness Sayyid Theyazin Bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Oman. The agreement is part of the flourishing economic cooperation between the two nations. The agreement was signed by Engineer Ahmed Bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), and Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, representing Mahadha Development Company, which will develop the new zone. Mahadha Development Company is an Emirati-Omani joint venture in which DP World is the majority partner. Commenting on the occasion, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said: 'The Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone represents a new chapter in the growing economic relationship between the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman. Through close collaboration with OPAZ and our Omani partners, this new zone will strengthen our deep trade ties while reflecting our shared ambition for sustainable and diversified economic growth.' He added: 'At DP World, we are committed to developing a world-class platform that will create new opportunities for growth, strengthen connectivity and bring long-term economic value to both Oman and the UAE.' In his speech, Engineer Ahmed Bin Hassan Al Dheeb highlighted: 'The Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone has been designed to support key development goals, including creating jobs, attracting advanced knowledge and modern technologies, and fostering a business-friendly environment that aligns with the sustainable development objectives of Oman Vision 2040.' He added: 'The zone's strategic location in the Buraimi Governorate - at the crossroads between Oman and the UAE - provides seamless connectivity to both Sohar Port and Jebel Ali Port. This positioning is expected to enhance logistics efficiency, lower costs, and improve market access across Gulf, Asian, and African trade routes.' Phase 1 of the project will cover 14 square kilometres, with expansion plans to reach 25 square kilometres in Phase 2. The zone will benefit from direct connectivity to both Jebel Ali Port in Dubai and Omani ports, enhancing cross-border logistics. Under the agreement, Mahadha Development Company will be responsible for developing the infrastructure and facilities, preparing the masterplan and environmental studies, and designing the initial layout. The first phase will target a range of economic activities, including manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, plastics, mining, food processing, and security and safety services - all provided through an integrated one-stop-shop service model. The Al Rawdah project is a strategic initiative that will leverage its geographic location to strengthen supply chains, re-export activity, and logistics connectivity between Oman, the UAE, and international markets. The zone will serve as a key engine of economic diversification aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and Oman Vision 2040. It aims to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), increase industrial output, and create thousands of jobs as the zone scales over the coming decades. In 2024, non-oil trade between the UAE and Oman reached a record Dhs56 billion - a 9.8% increase from the previous year - highlighting the deepening economic partnership. The Al Rawdah Zone is expected to accelerate this trend by establishing a modern and advanced ecosystem for trade and manufacturing. DP World brings four decades of expertise in developing and operating economic zones, including the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), the first free zone in the Middle East and one of the most successful globally. This experience along with its portfolio of 11 economic zones worldwide positions DP World to deliver a future-ready, integrated platform in Oman, supported by OPAZ's national development strategy. The signing was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; and. Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
