How Rolling Stones could be Glastonbury's Patchwork as they record 25th album
You wouldn't believe it if we told you this in the 1960s when the Rolling Stones formed, but the band are said to be recording their 25th album over five decades on. And they could possibly even be heading for Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage in the mysterious Patchwork slot in two weeks time. Hear me out. After their last No.1 album, Hackney Diamonds, dropped in 2023 with rave reviews and the success of their single Angry, members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood are said to be working on the new record with current drummer Steve Jordan. 'Originally, the plan was for them to bring their huge US tour to the UK and Europe this summer, but promoters couldn't get the dates to work, a source told The Sun. This huge news comes as Glastonbury dropped its full line-up for this year, with a number of secret sets billed. While some of these mystery slots are earmarked with TBA, there is one primetime Pyramid Stage slot currently occupied by a non-existant band called Patchwork. Most eyes are on Pulp at the moment, with Glastonbury tipsters Secretglasto convinced the 90s rockers are Patchwork, just as the Foo Fighters were made-up name The ChurnUps in 2023. However, with talks of tour plans being scrapped due to dates not being able to work and a new album said to be on the way, why could it not be the Rolling Stones? Sir Rod Stewart has already confirmed Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood will be at the festival, making a surprise appearance in his Sunday afternoon set, so he's in situ. But here's the big clue: Rolling Stones is actually a Patchwork pattern, which perhaps seems less tenuous than Pulp member Candida Doyle recently saying she likes doing patchwork on tour. Also, what band in the history of the world has a more recognisable band patch, than the Rolling Stones' hot lips logo? Plus, the late Rolling Stones member Charlie Watts was known for his love of tailoring, having owned over 200 suits, so the Patchwork moniker could be a nod to him. It would make sense, as he was totally different in his tailored three-piece suits, against the other Stones' rock and roll attire. The first and only time the Rolling Stones have performed at Glastonbury came in 2013, when they headlined the Pyramid Stage with Watts, before his death in 2021. According to LitHub, Sunspel, the British clothing manufacturer, designed a T-shirt that was easier for Charlie to play in due to the insertion of an extra side panel, allowing for two seams down the side instead of one. He was said to be so happy with it that the entire band wore the design at the Glastonbury Festival in 2013. In case we didn't need any more clues, in the 1960s – when the Rolling Stones were formed – patchwork patterns saw a huge revival with the emergance of the hippy culture. All an innocent coincidence? We're not so convinced… Time will tell. Got a story? Rolling Stones rumoured to be working on new music ahead of UK concerts
The Rolling Stones are reportedly recording a new album at Metropolis Studios in west London, following the success of their 2023 album, 'Hackney Diamonds'. The new album is being recorded by original members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, along with current drummer Steve Jordan, and is being produced by Grammy-winner Andrew Watt. There were rumours a summer 2025 tour had been scrapped, with the band instead focusing on new material. But the Rolling Stones are reportedly planning to announce UK shows in the coming weeks, after issues over venue and travel options were resolved. Their latest North America tour grossed almost a quarter of a billion dollars and sold 880,000 tickets, proving they remain one of the world's most popular live acts 60 years after forming.

Three of the members are suggested to be currently working on a follow up to Hackney Diamonds in West London recently. The news comes as the band are set to re-issue a previous album to celebrate Ronnie Wood's 50th anniversary with the band. Could recent reports about The Rolling Stones' activities in 2025 explain why they dropped their proposed summer tour this year? According to The Sun, band members Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood have been secretly holed up in a West London recording studio, working on the follow-up to 2023's Hackney Diamonds – which would be the group's 25th studio album. Rumours persisted throughout 2024 that the perennial touring group would hit the road once again this year, with dates across Europe and at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium put 'on hold' – though there was still hope the band would tour in 2026. This new album work now appears to be the reason for the tour's cancellation. With the band now reportedly at the point where they are to decide upon a release date, could those 2026 dates now correspond with a new album tour? If that is the case, it would mark their 41st significant tour since their formation back in 1962, which includes their most recent 2023 tour for Hackney Diamonds In the interim, the group is set to release a reissue of their 1976 album, Black and Blue, to mark the 50th anniversary of member Ronnie Wood joining the band. The new release will include two new tracks alongside more 'polished' masters of the original works on the album. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad

Rolling Stones have 'recorded huge new album' after scrapping upcoming tour
The Rolling Stones, which consists of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, are said to have been working on a new album after deciding to scrap plans for a European tour The Rolling Stones are said to be working on a new album after reportedly deciding to scrap plans for a comeback tour in Europe. It's claimed that the group have more than a dozen songs ready to go after spending time in the studio. Bandmates Mick Jagger, 81, Keith Richards, 81, and Ronnie Wood, 78, are said to have been working in Metropolis Studios in London since April. It's reported that they are now in discussions over the release of their 25th studio album. It's been suggested that the trio have collaborated again with producer Andrew Watt. He worked with the Rolling Stones on their last album Hackney Diamonds, which topped the UK Albums Chart following its release back in 2023. According to the Sun, Mick, Keith, and Ronnie are working on the new album after scrapping plans for a summer tour in the UK and other countries. The band's potential European tour had been rumoured earlier this year. A source told the outlet: "Mick, Keith and Ronnie have been secretly recording their new record with their drummer Steve Jordan." It's claimed that the band are "happy" with 13 songs and are discussing when to release it. The source went on to discuss the rumoured tour, saying that it didn't work out. They said: "Originally, the plan was for them to bring their huge US tour to the UK and Europe this summer, but promoters couldn't get the dates to work." They continued: "Instead the Stones decided to get back into the studio and put down their next album." The source suggested that it's "massive" news for fans who didn't get a chance to see the acclaimed band perform live this year. There was speculation over a possible tour in January. It was suggested at the time that the band could return to the UK with their Hackney Diamonds tour to play four dates at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the capital city. A source told the Daily Mail that Mick, Keith and Ronnie couldn't wait to bring the tour to the UK. They said: "They've been planning it for months and are itching to get back out on the road and do what they do best, which is perform." Prior to subsequent reports that the tour plans had been shelved, it was initially suggested that they would also visit other locations in Europe. There was speculation that the other shows would be in Barcelona, Rome, Amsterdam and Paris. The speculation came following the Rolling Stones' Hackney Diamonds in the US and Canada last year. The trio performed at a host of venues, including SoFi Stadium in Inglewood and BC Place in Vancouver, whilst on the tour. The tour was in support of their album Hackney Diamonds, which was released the previous year. It was their eighth studio album to top the charts in the UK, following in the footsteps of albums like Aftermath and Emotional Rescue. The Mirror has approached the Stones spokesperson for comment.
