Beyond Skin Deep – The Self-Care Issue cover shoot with Zieda's Aesthetic Clinic

Creative Direction: Amy Sessions Photographer: Lesha Lich Fashion Editor: Camille Macawili Makeup & Hair: Mauro Hernan Cover Star: Zieda Sharipova Location with thanks to The Lana Styling with thanks to Tiffany & Co. and The White Company – Dubai Mall What do the first 30 minutes of your day look like, your morning routine? I begin my day with 10 minutes of mindfulness – either light meditation or a gratitude journal. Then, I drink a glass of warm water with lemon to awaken my system, followed by a quick skincare routine using Zieda's Aesthetic Clinic's signature products. I avoid my phone for the first 30 minutes to stay centred. How did you know it was the right time to launch Zieda's Aesthetic Clinic, and which steps previously led you to this path? I always had a deep passion for beauty and wellness, and after years of working in the beauty industry and studying architecture and aesthetics, I knew it was time to create a space where advanced technology meets personalised care. The idea grew organically from my desire to give clients long-lasting results while honouring natural beauty. What are the core values that define and set Zieda's Aesthetic Clinic apart from the rest? Authenticity, excellence, innovation, and holistic care. We don't follow trends – we set them. Every client receives a bespoke approach, and we only use the most advanced, clinically proven technologies with a focus on long-term wellness, not just quick fixes. What does an experience look like at Zieda's Aesthetic Clinic, and where do you start when it comes to working with a new client? It starts with listening. We take time to understand the client's goals, lifestyle, and skin history. From there, we do a full diagnostic scan and customise a journey that may combine laser, facial, and body contouring treatments – all paired with education, so they feel empowered and supported. What are the most common skincare issues you are seeing with your clients today? We see a lot of pigmentation, active acne, dehydration, and premature aging – often due to stress, hormones, or lifestyle. Our goal is to treat the root cause, not just the symptoms. What new treatment that you have implemented in your offering is worth investing in regularly, and what are its benefits? BBL (BroadBand Light) combined with HALO has been a game-changer. It not only improves pigmentation and texture but also stimulates deep collagen production. The results are natural and cumulative – perfect for clients who want long-term rejuvenation. Time is a real luxury – which treatment would save time for clients who are time poor and deliver results? Morpheus8. It's quick, minimally invasive, and delivers visible skin tightening and contouring in one session. It's ideal for busy professionals who need powerful results without downtime. Beyond treatments, what can we be doing to look after our skin naturally in a holistic way? Sleep, hydration, clean nutrition, daily SPF, and stress management are essential. I also encourage clients to take supplements based on their skin concerns and incorporate lymphatic drainage or gentle facial massages at home. You've had an incredible journey in building the business. What are the milestones you're most proud of? Opening the dental department, expanding into slimming and body contouring, introducing cutting-edge equipment like Ultherapy and Emsculpt NEO, and building a team of strong, compassionate professionals. But most of all, gaining the trust of our loyal clients. 'Consistency, passion, and listening to my clients. I never compromise on quality and always evolve with innovation' What are the challenges you've experienced, and what have you learned about yourself in overcoming them? Building a business as a female entrepreneur in a competitive market came with challenges – balancing creativity with business decisions, facing unexpected costs, and managing team dynamics. I've learned I'm far more resilient than I ever imagined. To what do you credit your phenomenal success in business? Consistency, passion, and listening to my clients. I never compromise on quality and always evolve with innovation. My background in art and architecture also helped me design not just a clinic, but an inspiring experience. This is The Self-Care Issue – how do you make time for yourself after a long day, and what are your non-negotiable self-care practices? Even on my busiest days, I carve out time for quiet. I love aromatherapy baths, a good facial mask, reading, or simply sitting in silence. My non-negotiables: skincare, sleep, journaling, and surrounding myself with beauty – both in people and spaces. – For more on luxury lifestyle, news, fashion and beauty follow Emirates Woman on Facebook and Instagram

Afghanistan among nine most mine infested countries, with 6.4 mn people at risk

Kabul, June 11 (UNI) The HALO (Hazardous Area Life-support Organisation) Trust – one of the prime global NGOs for the dismantling of mines and other explosive objects, has said that Afghanistan is among the nine most mine filled countries in the world. It stated that over 6.4 million people are at risk every day of unexploded ordinance, with children accounting for 80% of blast fatalities and injuries. The official report on its website reads: 'HALO, the world's largest landmine charity, estimates that around 40 children are killed or severely injured every month while scavenging for scrap metal to sell to support their families. The charity fears that the real figures are likely to be much higher. 'Afghanistan remains one of the most landmine-contaminated countries in the world – surpassed only by Ukraine. An area larger than the city of San Francisco is thought to be littered with unexploded ordnance.' Dr Farid Homayoun, HALO Afghanistan Programme Manager, said: "Afghanistan is now a forgotten humanitarian problem. The Afghan people have struggled for over four decades of conflict, displacement, poverty, and we need the international community to continue to support people to the end of this journey and not leave them stranded halfway through." Its findings reported that this contamination potentially impacts approximately 20% of the population, including 100,000s of Afghan refugees, who have been forcibly deported from Pakistan and Iran in recent months with no resources at their disposal. So far, HALO Trust reports that 1,400 square km of contaminated land have been cleared, benefitting over 17 million people across the country. These efforts have made many once-dangerous areas habitable and safe for farming, education, and development. Despite progress, explosive remnants from decades of war continue to claim lives in various provinces. UNI ANV SSP
