The Gunners were confident of doing their business quickly this summer after months of preparation by boss Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta. Arsenal negotiations stall as Benjamin Sesko's agent makes transfer comment
Benjamin Sesko remains top of Arsenal's transfer agenda as the Gunners look to strengthen Mikel Arteta's options up front and Nico Williams has moved closer to a move from Athletic Bilbao Arsenal are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as they look to finally strengthen their forward line. Mikel Arteta has been desperate for a striker to aid his team's bid to win a trophy. The north London side have been linked to deals for Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres in the coming weeks, but are also looking to strengthen elsewhere in the squad. Martin Zubimendi is set to arrive in midfield, while there is also a desire to land a winger and defender. Sporting director Andrea Berta has already tied down Gabriel Magalhaes to a new deal. There are ambitions to secure the futures of Bukayo Saka and Myles Lewis-Skelly too. Meanwhile, Jorginho has already departed the Gunners and Kieran Tierney's exit has been confirmed. But there is more work to do for Arsenal. Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours from around the Emirates. Sesko's agent speaks out Benjamin Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic has denied putting pressure on RB Leipzig to lower their asking price for the striker. Arsenal are understood to have agreed personal terms with Sesko but the Bundesliga side still want a significant fee - thought to be north of £60million. Basanovic rejected any notion that he would attempt to force Leipzig's hand. 'This is far from truth!" he told Givemesport. "We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100% convinced RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we decide to do it." He added: "Even if there may be - or will be - a strong desire of the player to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig. I believe this is not the right way, because the way you actually exit from the club shows your values. Values that you are bringing into a new club. "I can understand in very big transfers, there are a lot of different interests but no matter what, I believe in football world should be more respect. So that's why we do things in the right way or we don't do them. It's very simple, even maybe in the media it looks very complicated." Williams nears transfer Spain star Nico Williams has agreed on a six-year contract with Barcelona, according to reports. The Athletic Bilbao winger looks set to depart this summer and has drawn interest from Bayern Munich and Arsenal in addition to the Catalan club. Barca are said to have offered a salary in the region €7m-8m (£6m-7m) but have not yet agreed a deal with their La Liga rivals. Williams has a release clause in the region of £50m but the Spanish champions have not agreed a financial package with Bilbao. Partey negotiations Thomas Partey looks set to leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the month. The midfielder was in negotiations over extending his stay at the club but talks are now at a standstill, per ESPN. The former Atletico Madrid ace has drawn interest from Turkey and been linked with a move to Barcelona. Partey, 32, has played for Arsenal 167 times since joining the club in October 2020. ‘Thank you for being an incredible coach'
Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta has taken to social media to say his goodbyes ahead of taking over the vacant managerial role at Parma. The 29-year-old is set to become the youngest manager in the Italian top flight this century, and second-youngest in history, when he completes his move to the Italian side, who finished in 16th in Serie A last season. Advertisement Cuesta will be replacing Chrstian Chivu, who guided the Yellow and Blues to survival before taking over at Inter following the departure of Simone Inzaghi. In a post on his Instagram, Cuesta spoke of his gratitude of working at the Gunners since being brought to the club by Mikel Arteta in 2020 after stints at Atletico Madrid and Juventus. 'After five beautiful years it's hard to put this into words, but I can only express how grateful I am for having lived my day-to-day with such special people and feel what it means to represent this football club, with its incredible history and values,' Cuesta said. 'The only thing I've ever tried to do was give everything I had inside of me every single day. I was inspired by the culture that was created, by the hunger of every person of the organisation and by the unity that we had in any situation that we had to face. 'It has been a privilege to have had the chance to work with the players, staff, directors and all the employees of the club and at the same time, to receive an extra push from our amazing fans in every match.' Advertisement Cuesta followed this up with a second post thanking Arteta for his 'trust' during their five years together in north London. 'And then, to the person that made it happen. Thank you. That's the only thing I can say,' he added. 'Thank you for your trust, for giving me the opportunity to be next to you and for showing me with constant facts which is the meaning of the word 'courage'. 'But more than that, thank you for being an incredible coach, an incredible leader, and an even better human being. 'It has been a true privilege to learn from you, to feel your support in any circumstance and to share the ups and downs of the journey always seeing the positive side of it. You've taught me a lot, and I will carry it always with me. 'From the bottom of my heart, thank you.'

Arsenal consider second swoop for Chelsea star as Enzo Maresca stance revealed
Arsenal are yet to add a new face to their squad this summer but it appears that Mikel Arteta is keen on a double raid on the Gunners' London rivals Chelsea as he aims to get his first signing over the line Arsenal are keeping tabs on Noni Madueke amid his uncertain future at Chelsea. The England winger has endured a mixed spell at Stamford Bridge since his arrival from Dutch side PSV in January 2023. The 22-year-old has been in and out of the side, albeit is fresh off the back of the most productive season of his career so far. Madueke scored 11 goals for Chelsea last season as they claimed the Conference League. But it appears that his future in West London is far from certain. According to The Telegraph, Madueke is not considered untouchable by club chiefs this summer and that has triggered a number of clubs to express an interest. It is suggested that Arsenal are among the sides keeping tabs on developments, albeit they have stopped short of submitting an official enquiry to their London rivals. The Gunners are keen on adding a new winger to their squad this summer, having previously had Nico Williams at the top of their shortlist. However, the Athletic Bilbao star appears to be on his way to Barcelona, forcing Arsenal to look elsewhere. Madueke has therefore emerged as an alternative. But it could be difficult to prise him away from Stamford Bridge. Madueke has five years remaining on his contract with the Blues, while Enzo Maresca has completely dismissed the prospect of an exit this summer. Speaking at the Club World Cup, he said: 'Noni is our player. In this moment, you can read speculation about many players. But Noni is our player. We consider Noni our player for next season.' Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking to add another winger following Mykhailo Mudryk's potential four-year doping ban and Jadon Sancho's return to Manchester United. Maresca added: 'We had already one entire season already without Mischa. We are going to decide to go for a winger. 'In both cases, we have Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto as proper wingers, then we try to adapt with Tyrique George. It's a position we need to improve.' Madueke is not the first Chelsea star that Arsenal have been linked with this season. Reports earlier in the window suggested that the Gunners were set to sign Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga after activating his £5m release clause but a deal has yet to be announced.

Martin Zubimendi to Arsenal confirmed: Gunners to pay more than €60 million, per Fabrizio Romano
Arsenal have secured the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, with renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming the move is done with his signature 'Here we go.' The Gunners will pay slightly more than the €60 million release clause for the Spain international midfielder, opting to spread the cost over instalments rather than triggering the clause outright—allowing for greater financial flexibility. 'The fee will be a bit higher, but allowing payment in instalments as clubs share an excellent relationship,' Romano posted on X. 🚨❤️🤍 Arsenal will pay slightly more than €60m release clause as part of the pact with Real Sociedad for Martin Zubimendi deal. The fee will be bit higher but allowing payment in installments as clubs share excellent relationship. Here we go, confirmed. ✅🔐 — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 19, 2025 The 26-year-old midfielder, a UEFA Euro 2024 winner, had long been on Arsenal's radar. Despite a brief threat of a Real Madrid swoop, the north London club remained confident throughout. Zubimendi's arrival does not automatically spell the end for Thomas Partey, though negotiations over a contract extension with the Ghanaian have stalled. Romano noted June 19 that no agreement has been reached and 'concrete chances' exist that Partey may depart as a free agent. Zubimendi becomes Mikel Arteta's first major signing of the summer, with the Arsenal boss reportedly keen to add experience and composure to his midfield, especially with Champions League ambitions for the upcoming campaign.
