UP man held in Delhi in CPI(M) revival conspiracy case
Jun 23, 2025 07:48 AM IST The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Mathura man who is said to be a key accused in a CPI (Maoist) revival conspiracy case, the agency said in a note on Sunday. The arrest was made during a search in Vishal Singh's West Delhi house, from where digital devices and other incriminating materials were also seized. (For representation) A senior NIA official said Singh, who was originally from U.P's Mathura, was a member of the banned CPI (Maoist) and had delivered a drone to leaders of the outfit in Chhakarbanda/Panchrukhiya forest area of Bihar to further its violent anti-national activities. He had imparted technical training to other cadres of CPI (Maoist) and had also attended meetings with its central committee members in the deep forests of Bihar in 2019. He said the case related to the terror organisation's conspiracy to re-energise its decrepit influence in the Northern Regional Bureau (NRB) area, comprising UP, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. He said the conspiracy involved the recruitment of cadres and strengthening of the organisation in the region through underground cadres working in urban areas, along with some Over Ground Workers (OGWs) operating in the guise of activists. The NIA, in August 2024, arrested one Ajay Singhal alias Aman, who was the in-charge of the CPI(M)'s State Organising Committee (SOC) in Haryana and Punjab, in the same case.

Security Forces Eye 54 Routes To Hunt Down Pahalgam Attack Terrorists
Quick Take Summary is AI generated, newsroom reviewed. Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are intensifying searches for terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, focusing on 54 routes. New Delhi: The security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their search for the terrorists behind the deadly Pahalgam attack and are now focused on 54 routes that begin from Baisaran, the valley where the terror attack left 26 people dead last month, sources told NDTV. Some of these routes go upwards towards dense forests and mountains, while others are connected to different parts of Kashmir, they said. The Over Ground Workers (OGWs), who have been arrested for providing logistics to terrorists, have also been taken to the forests for the search operations. The terrorists are believed to be in hideouts in the forests, sources said. The probe has so far found that three terrorists - two from Pakistan and one from Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag - had opened fire on tourists in Baisaran Valley, known as "mini Switzerland" for its rolling hills and verdant orchards, killing 25 Indian nationals and a Nepali citizen on April 22. The police have released sketches of three terrorists suspected of being involved in the Pahalgam attack. — Anantnag Police( اننت ناگ پولیس) (@AnantnagPolice) April 24, 2025 According to the notices made public by the police on X, the three suspects are: Hashim Musa alias Suleman and Ali Bhai alias Talha Bhai, both residents of Pakistan, and Adil Hussain Thoker, a native of Anantnag. The attack in Baisaran meadow was one of the deadliest assaults on civilians in the region in recent years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India will "identify, track and punish" every terrorist and their "backers" who were behind the Pahalgam attack. "We will pursue them to the ends of the earth," he told a public gathering on April 24. India has hit Pakistan with a series of strict measures, including expulsion of Pakistani military attaches, suspension of the over six-decade-old Indus Waters Treaty and immediate shutting down of the Attari land-transit post.

Youth's body found in Kulgam; Mehbooba demands probe into alleged foul play
Srinagar, May 4 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday called for probe into alleged foul play after a youth's body was recovered from a river in south Kashmir's Kulgam district. The body of the Imtiyaz Magray was recovered from a river—two days after residents allege he was picked up by the Army, she said. The body was handed over to the relatives after completing medico legal formalities at district Hospital Kulgam 'Yet another body has been recovered from a river in Kulgam raising serious allegations of foul play. Local residents allege that Imtiyaz Magray was picked up by the army two days ago and now mysteriously his body has surfaced in the river,' Mehbooba said in a post on X. Mehbooba said the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam appears to be a calculated attempt to derail the fragile peace, disrupt tourism in Kashmir and undermine communal harmony across the country. 'If a single act of violence can shake the entire system—triggering arbitrary arrests, home demolitions, and the targeting of innocent civilians then the perpetrators have already achieved their objective. Allegations of misconduct whether in Bandipora encounter or in this latest incident in Kulgam are deeply troubling and warrant a thorough impartial investigation,' she said. Following the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 25 tourists and a local resident, security forces have intensified their crackdown across the Kashmir Valley, targeting militants and their Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
