'Green Bones' starring Dennis Trillo, Ruru Madrid is No. 1 on Netflix Philippines
"Green Bones" has become the no. 1 movie on Netflix Philippines, a day after it premiered on the streaming platform. The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 Best Picture on Friday climbed to the top spot on the list of Top Movies in the Philippines Today. "'Green Bones' is top 1 in Netflix Philippines today! Don't miss it! Now playing on Netflix," GMA Pictures wrote on social media. "Green Bones" premiered on Netflix on June 19. The film, produced by GMA Pictures, is directed by Zig Dulay based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs. It follows Domingo Zamora (Dennis Trillo), who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, the newly assigned prison guard (Ruru Madrid) takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what. "Green Bones" won several awards at the MMFF 2024, such as Best Picture, Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Angeli Atienza), Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), Best Cinematography (Neil Daza), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens). Ruru Madrid says 'Green Bones' changed him: 'Habang-buhay kong ipagpapasalamat'
Ruru Madrid expressed gratitude and pride anew after 'Green Bones' premiered on Netflix this week. The Kapuso Primetime Action Hero and 'Lolong' star took to Instagram to announce the film's availability on the streaming platform, and said it's a film "na habang-buhay kong ipagpapasalamat—at ipagmamalaki ko kahit kanino.' 'This film didn't just challenge me… it changed me,' he said. Ruru said he hopes more people would watch 'Green Bones' and learn lessons from it just like he did. 'Para sa sining. Para sa bansa. At para sa ating lahat na pinipili pa ring maging mabuti sa mundong ito,' Ruru said. 'Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumusuporta—ngayon pa lang, ramdam ko na kayo,' he added. Mikee Quintos shared how Mikoy Morales asked her to be the best woman at his upcoming wedding with Isa Garcia. On Instagram, the "Slay" actress posted videos of herself turning emotional while reading Mikoy's letter asking her to be his best woman. One touching line from Mikoy's letter read: "Naalala ko noong pangatlong kita naming ni Isa, sa'yo ko agad dinala—because you were the benchmark of what a partner for me should be kaya thank you for loving her." Mikee responded to the "Lolong" actor in her post's caption. "No matter how scary the jump is… You jump, I jump," she wrote. "I got you," she added. "Can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you and [Isa]!" Mikoy got engaged to Isa in February.
