The Wicked star reshared a heartbreaking statement posted by her mother, Joan Grande, about Marjorie's death. "We are devastated to share that the beloved matriarch of our family has passed away," the statement signed by Grande and her family reads. "Marjorie (Nonna) Grande passed away peacefully in her home and was surrounded by family and loved ones for every moment of her last few weeks. We thank you for your love, support, and for respecting our privacy as we grieve and celebrate her beautiful, extraordinary life." Grande and her grandmother shared a close bond.

Way back when, Ariana Grande used to act on Nickelodeon's 'Victorious' and 'Sam & Cat'. You would've probably heard the word 'Nonna (grandmother)' mentioned a lot on those show, making her mark as Ariana's favourite person. This reflects her real relationship with her grandmother, as their bond has been as close-knit since the beginning. Sadly, earlier today (Wednesday, 18th June 2025), Ariana Grande announced the passing of her grandmother, Marjorie 'Nonna' Grande, at age 99. The Grande matriarch was featured countless times on the Wicked star's socials, with fans adoringly adopting her as their own 'Nonna'. The news was announced by Ariana's mother on an Instagram post signed by members of the Grande family. The post reads, 'Marjorie (Nonna) Grande passed peacefully in her home and was surrounded by her family and loved ones for every moment of her last few weeks'. The family also thanks fans for their support and for the privacy for the family to mourn her passing. Both Ariana and her brother Frankie Grande posted their own dedicated post, with Ariana posting her grandparent's wedding photo with the caption 'Forever'. Frankie dedicates a long heartfelt post to Majorie, writing, 'Thank you for every moment, every lesson, every hug, every belly laugh. Until we meet again, and we will, please kiss Grandpa and Aunt Judy for me, and tell them how much I love and miss them too'. Netizens were devastated over the news, with comments flooding in with well wishes and condolences to the family in mourning. 'Victorious' stars Liz Gillies and Daniella Monet, and singer Jessie J have also left their own supporting comments for the 31-year-old star. Fans have suggested streaming 'Ordinary Things' which features Nonna in the track, in tribute to her passing. Majorie is also celebrated as the oldest living person to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since the chart's inception in August 1958. Stephen Schwartz may add Wicked movie's 'Popular' ending to Broadway
Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz is considering adding the film version's new extended ending of 'Popular' to the Broadway stage show. The updated version, sung by Ariana Grande as Glinda in the 2024 Wicked movie, features new key changes and showcases more of Grande's soprano range. Schwartz revealed in a recent interview with BuzzFeed UK that although this ending was written specifically for the film, he now feels it could enhance the stage version. 'If I had thought of this ending then, I would have done it,' Schwartz said, noting the potential of integrating the movie's version into the long-running Broadway production. Grande, who stars alongside Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba), originally hesitated about the dramatic vocal shift but eventually embraced the idea. In an interview with The Emsolation Podcast, Grande shared that the final choreography and musical arrangement were a spontaneous decision made just days before shooting. Director Jon M. Chu, cinematographer Alice Brooks, and choreographer Chris Scott were inspired by the architecture of Shiz University's hallway, prompting the team to adapt the number's staging and vocals on the spot. The film adaptation of Wicked was released in two parts, with Part One debuting November 22, 2024, and Part Two set for November 21, 2025. Alongside Grande and Erivo, the cast includes Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Ethan Slater. If approved, the 'Popular' film ending could be the first musical number from Wicked's cinematic debut to make its way back into the original Broadway production.

After a historic year for 'Saturday Night Live,' the comedy series ranked their most viral sketches from Season 50, and Ariana Grande's performances came out on top. The 'Wicked' star made her presence known at Studio 8H during her press tour for the blockbuster, with three of her sketches cracking the top five most-watched performances of the season. The pop singer's Jennifer Coolidge impression came in as the 4th most-watched sketch of the season. Grande and Chloe Fineman mirrored their impressions of the 'White Lotus' star as they tested out Maybelline's latest lip product. But the recurring sketch that dominated the season was another one of Grande's: 'Domingo.' The Oscar nominee was joined by a cast of bridesmaids to toast the bride with an original song to the tune of Sabrina Carpenter's 'Espresso.' Grande's ability to sing off-key went viral on social media, leading the cast to bring back the sketch format twice more during the season — once for Charli XCX's episode and a third time during the 50th Anniversary special, featuring Carpenter herself. 'Domingo: Babymoon' was the second-most watched sketch of the season. Another sketch from the 'Thank U, Next' singer that was third most-watched overall was 'Castrati,' in which she plays a young boy who is castrated at eight or nine years old to preserve his falsetto singing voice. Her face of general disgust and horror as Antonio became a meme on social media, gaining traction for the sketch across platforms. Several of Timothée Chalamet's performances also cracked the Top 10 most-watched sketches, including his performance as a barista-in-training and a bungee workout instructor. Ariana Grande Joins ‘Meet The Parents' Sequel At Universal; Fall 2026 Release Date Set
Following the success of Wicked Part 1, Ariana Grande and Universal have found their next project to team on. And its another huge IP for the studio. Sources tell Deadline that the Oscar nominee and Grammy winner is set to join the cast of the next installment in the Meet the Parents franchise. Sources also tell Deadline that film will bow on November 25, 2026. John Hamburg is directing, with the original cast including Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo and Blythe Danner returning to star. Hamburg, who co-wrote the three previous Meet the Parents movies, is also penning this script. Universal EVP Production Development Matt Reilly and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the studio. Following her scene-stealing performance as Glinda in Wicked, Grande has had her fair share of scripts come her way. Ultimately, her strong ties to the studio led her back to the lot on a project Universal is excited about. Wicked shattered box office records, becoming the most successful Broadway musical film adaptation of all time, earning almost $800 million worldwide. For her role as Glinda, Grande received Academy Award, Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA nominations for Supporting Actress. The film was nominated for 10 Oscars including Best Picture, winning for Costume Design and Production Design. Wicked: For Good arrives in theaters on November 21.
