AP: Government to hold review meeting on completion of 1 year in office
Vijayawad, Jun 22 (UNI) To mark one year in office, the N. Chandrababu Naidu headed Andhra Pradesh Government will conduct a special meeting titled 'First Step towards Good Governance' on June 23 in Amaravati, near here. The event will be held on a specially arranged dais behind the Secretariat. Originally scheduled for June 12, the meeting was postponed due to the tragic plane crash near Ahmedabad. In tomorrow's session, the government will review administrative reforms introduced over the past year, changes implemented, welfare measures delivered, and efforts made towards the state's development. A key focus will be on how to realize people's aspirations and meet developmental targets over the next four years. The district Collectors, SPs, HODs, Secretaries, MLAs, Ministers, and MPs from all 26 districts will participate in the event being held in Amaravati. The Naidu headed coalition Government completed one year in office and steps into its second year, steering the State towards reconstruction after the financial and administrative chaos left by the previous regime. Alongside short-term development goals, the coalition has also drafted and begun implementing long-term strategies like the Swarna Andhra @2047 vision for a developed Andhra Pradesh. The AP government is making rapid progress on key fronts such as the Polavaram project, Amaravati capital development, attracting industries and investments, and creating employment opportunities for 20 lakh people. 'To assess the good governance delivered over the past year and outline the roadmap for the future, this special meeting is being held under the banner "First Step towards Good Governance." Discussions will also cover the objectives for the current year and the targets to be achieved. UAE played ‘significant role' in reducing tension between India and Pakistan, says Sharif
The UAE played a significant role in reducing tensions between Pakistan and India during the recent military conflict, said Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The prime minister's remarks were made during a meeting with Abdulla Nasser Lootah, UAE's Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, and Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador in Pakistan, in Islamabad on Monday. The two South Asian neighbours engaged in a military conflict after India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam attack, which Islamabad denies. Sharif recently visited the UAE and met President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, describing the meeting as 'very fruitful' and saying the UAE played a 'significant role in reducing tensions between Pakistan and India.' In addition to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the US also played a key role in reducing tension between the two nuclear nations. During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said the UAE has positioned itself among the developed countries with its modern management system, and Pakistan was keen to benefit from its experiences. The prime minister underlined that Pakistan wanted to benefit from the experiences of the UAE to achieve good governance so that these steps could be made more effective to improve data-based decision-making. He added that Pakistan has taken steps such as digitisation and a paperless economy to improve its administrative structure. In addition, a faceless customs system has also been implemented. Sharif and Abdulla Naseer also attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in improving government performance by exchanging knowledge and mutual experience, guidance and development models in relevant fields. The MoU covers cooperation in areas such as good governance, development planning, public sector reforms, human resource development, urban planning, and science and technology, among others.

Nigeria: Gov Bala reaffirms commitment to improving quality of life
Bauchi Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has reiterated his administration's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for citizens as the topmost responsibility of governments at all levels. The Governor made the assertion during a recent meeting with the Bauchi Field Office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Chief of Field Office (CFO), Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, at the Governor's Office. The Governor emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing development challenges and promoting the well-being of Bauchi State's residents particularly women and children U-5. Bala Mohammed highlighted his administration's focus on key areas, including Good Governance which is Ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective leadership. Healthcare involves improving access to quality healthcare services and promoting healthy living while Education is enhancing education infrastructure, promoting literacy, and supporting skill development. On Nutrition, he stressed that it is addressing malnutrition and promoting food security through sustainable agriculture and nutrition programmes. The Governor expressed appreciation for UNICEF's support and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in driving development initiatives. He, however, lamented that Bauchi State is facing significant development challenges, including malnutrition, which affects the health and well-being of children. The governor also emphasized the need for capacity building to improve food production and security, enabling citizens to access nutritious food and lead healthy lives. He then reaffirmed his administration's commitment to continued engagement and partnership with UNICEF and other development partners to improve the lives of citizens and address pressing issues. He stressed that 'By working together, the state aims to achieve sustainable development and promote the well-being of its residents. Speaking earlier, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, UNICEF Chief of Field Office, commended the Governor's open-door policy for international organizations and highlighted the significance of strategic planning in achieving quality education, healthcare, and nutrition. She stressed that the State is yet to release matching funds for the procurement of nutrients for children under the Children Nutrition Fund (CNF) arrangement which is accessible to all interested States. President Boakai Applauds the European Council on Europe's Day Celebration
The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, extended warmest congratulations to the People of the European Union on the occasion marking the anniversary of the founding of the Union on May 9, 2025. According to a Foreign Ministry release, the first recognition of Europe Day was by the Council of Europe, introduced in 1964. The European Union later started to celebrate its own European Day in commemoration of the 1950 Schuman Declaration, referred to as "Schuman Day'. In his message to the President of the European Council, His Excellency António Costa, President Boakai stressed that this important milestone stands as a testament to the enduring vision and determination that give rise to the European Union, an emblem of unity, peace, shared prosperity, and cultural cooperation. The Liberian leader added that over the years, the EU has evolved beyond a regional alliance to become a global symbol of multilateral collaboration, democratic values, and economic mobility. 14th security camp set-up this year in Narayanpur district
Raipur: In a significant development aimed at boosting security and public welfare in one of Chhattisgarh's worst Maoist-affected zones, a new security and community services camp has been set-up in Pangud village, located in the Maoist hotbed of the Marh region in Narayanpur district . This is the 14th camp opened in district within a year which was opened near Sonpur Police Station in Narayanpur district. The camp was jointly established by the Narayanpur District Police, District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, and the 129th, 133rd, 135th, and 86th battalions of the Border Security Force (BSF) under supervision of senior police officers. According to officials, the camp's primary objectives include strengthening anti-Naxal operations , providing security for ongoing road construction, connecting interior villages like Sonpur, Dhodhribeda, Maspur, Horadi, Garpa, and Kandulnar to the national development framework. Coinciding with the camp's inauguration, a one-day community policing outreach was held. Officers including Commandant Sanjay Singh, Deputy Commandant Sudhir Dwivedi, and others interacted with locals from Pangud, Koge, Sitaram, Binagunda, Koronar, and Wala. More than 200 villagers participated, receiving daily essential supplies.
