Genetec Updates Security Center SaaS Platform

Home » Top stories » Genetec Updates Security Center SaaS Platform Genetec Inc., a global leader in enterprise physical security software, has announced new updates to its Genetec Security Center SaaS platform. The company revealed that since the platform's launch, it has delivered new features every 12 days. This approach ensures a flexible and open SaaS solution tailored to modern security operations. Genetec Security Center SaaS integrates video surveillance, access control, forensic search, intrusion monitoring, and automation in one solution. It supports cloud-only or hybrid deployments, giving organizations full control over their security infrastructure. The latest updates include: Expanded support for direct-to-cloud cameras Enhanced edge recording via SD cards New third-party analytics integrations Genetec reported that the platform now supports a wide range of devices, including models from Axis, Bosch, and i-PRO. This includes PTZ and fisheye cameras with automatic de-warping capabilities. Organizations can also use Genetec appliances to connect non-cloud-ready access control systems, cameras, and intrusion panels. This allows them to retain existing hardware and reduce costs. Video storage options remain flexible. Users can store video at the edge or in the cloud depending on bandwidth, policies, and operational needs. Centralized management is possible through both web and mobile applications. With built-in support for WebRTC, the platform allows direct peer-to-peer video streaming from cameras to the web interface. This feature reduces video load times and bandwidth usage ideal for live monitoring and large deployments. Genetec emphasized that the Security Center SaaS simplifies operations across industries such as retail, education, banking, healthcare, and urban infrastructure. Operators can manage security systems from a central SOC or remotely. Real-time alerts help teams respond swiftly. Additionally, open architecture enables integration with partner technologies. One example is new firearm detection analytics from Bosch, which can trigger alerts and activate workflows upon weapon identification. Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering at Genetec, stated, 'Genetec is redefining what SaaS means for physical security. It's not just about moving to the cloud it's about flexibility to build, scale, and evolve systems.' He added that Genetec Security Center stands out by unifying physical security in one platform while continuing to support existing hardware and deployment models.

Genetec Unveils AutoVu Plugin To Speed Up Investigations

Genetec has announced the AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin, an advanced investigation tool that expands ALPR-based forensic search capabilities within Genetec Security Center. The new plugin empowers law enforcement officers and investigators to quickly narrow down a pool of suspects using vehicle behavior patterns—specifically driving speed and travel cohorts. By eliminating manual data sorting and enabling targeted, efficient analysis, the tool is designed to save investigators critical time. 'This plugin gives investigators what they need to close cases faster,' said Steve Hins, Product Group Manager, ALPR at Genetec Inc. 'With just a few clicks, they can spot patterns and behaviors in vehicle data that would otherwise take hours or days to uncover manually.' The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin offers two key functionalities: With the Cohort Analysis feature, investigators can identify vehicles that consistently travel with another vehicle of a known license plate—revealing patterns that may point to coordination, accomplices, or organized criminal activity. Instead of manually reviewing read reports, officers can input a known plate, select relevant ALPR cameras, and define how often vehicles appear together (e.g., within a few seconds, across multiple cameras). The system then identifies potential vehicle cohorts instantly. In cases like organized retail theft, this is especially valuable: a known suspect vehicle might be linked to multiple incidents, and cohort analysis can reveal if another vehicle, such as a getaway car, is consistently nearby, helping investigators quickly narrow down their pool of suspects. The Time and Speed Analysis feature enables investigators to quickly identify vehicles exhibiting outlier behavior, such as those fleeing a crime scene, by comparing the estimated speed of vehicles traveling between two ALPR cameras. Officers simply select cameras located within a zone of interest and define a time frame (e.g., one to five minutes). The system then generates a report listing all vehicles that passed both cameras, along with their estimated speeds. This enables investigators to immediately spot anomalies—such as a vehicle traveling 60 mph in an area where most were going 30—without sifting through thousands of license plate reads. In incidents like a hit-and-run, this tool helps pinpoint suspects in seconds by revealing which vehicles sped through a defined area right after the event. Availability The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin is available globally as a paid add-on for Security Center, through the Genetec network of accredited channel partners. 0 0

CyberLink Releases FaceMe® Security 8.0, Enhancing Smart Security Experiences and Accelerating Large-Scale Project Deployment

CyberLink Corp. ( a pioneer in AI and facial recognition technologies, today announced the latest release of FaceMe Security. A turnkey security and access control solution, FaceMe Security enables identity verification, attendance management, and access control through AI facial recognition, with real-time monitoring and alerts. FaceMe Security is integrated with major VMS providers, enabling them to find people faster with facial recognition powered search investigations. Enhanced Out-Of-The-Box Experience FaceMe Security can be used as a standalone software, but it thrives when accompanying an existing video surveillance system. Existing users of Genetec Security Center, Milestone XProtect, Network Optix Nx Witness, and Hanwha Vision Wisenet WAVE can add FaceMe Security to their VMS and gain the benefits of facial recognition real-time notification and access control, all from their current VMS user interface. New updates in version 8.0 improve the setup process with these VMS partners, including step-by-step snapshots to ensure smooth installation and faster PoC process. New Auto-Detection of IP Cameras and FaceMe Security Central FaceMe Security 8.0 can automatically detect IP cameras under the same network segment. Auto-detection of the IP cameras reduces technical barriers and simplifies system operation to enhance usability of FaceMe Security. Instead of inputting camera IP addresses one by one, users now can specify a range of IP addresses and do a scan for the IP cameras. For larger projects, auto-detection of the IP cameras accelerates the speed of deployment and provides greater efficiency. Not only is there now auto-detection of IP cameras, but version 8.0 can also auto-detect the FaceMe Security Central in the same LAN during setup. This improves productivity for users when they must make updates or changes to system settings, and don't have the IP address on hand. New Feature: Trigger DIDO by HTTP API Already supporting access control through integration with automatic door switch DIDO I/O modules and Wiegand protocol, FaceMe Security 8.0 now also incorporates support for devices with HTTP APIs. Since many IP cameras have built-in DIDO modules that can be triggered by API for door access control, version 8.0 allows customers to eliminate the need for a separate DIDO device, helping to reduce costs. Through Axis VAPIX Application API, Axis cameras with DIDO modules can now be triggered by FaceMe Security to open doors for employees in Axis Camera Station. When FaceMe Security detects a person of interest, it can also better alert security staff through DIDO triggers by HTTP API. For example, PATLITE signal tower lights will flash red when a blocklisted person is detected, alerting security staff to something they could have easily missed. Additional 8.0 Updates Version 8.0 provides these additional updates to improve the experience for customers and users alike. 'Accurate facial recognition is important, but just as important are a smooth installation and positive user experience,' said Mei Guu, President of CyberLink Business Unit 2. 'Enabling our customers to easily locate the IP cameras and smoothly enhance their VMS with facial recognition ensures that they can start reaping the benefits of FaceMe Security immediately.'
