Genetec brings powerful new capabilities to Security Center SaaS
Genetec Inc. ('Genetec'), the global leader in enterprise physical security software, today announced new updates to Security Center SaaS, the company's enterprise-grade Security-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution. Since its launch, Genetec has delivered new features to the platform every 12 days. This ensures Genetec provides a flexible, open, SaaS solution that is continuously extended to meet the needs of any modern security operation. Security Center SaaS combines video surveillance, access control, forensic search, intrusion monitoring, automation, and other advanced capabilities in a single solution. Designed to run fully in the cloud or in a hybrid deployment that can include on-premises systems, it gives organizations the freedom to choose how they manage and scale their security infrastructure. The latest updates expand support for direct-to-cloud cameras, improve edge recording capabilities, and introduce new third-party analytics integrations, reinforcing the platform's pace of innovation and commitment to customer choice. Unlike proprietary SaaS solutions, Security Center SaaS enables security professionals and channel partners to choose the hardware that best fits their needs, without being locked into a single vendor. Its open architecture supports a broad range of devices from Axis, Bosch, and i-PRO, including direct-to-cloud, PTZ, and fisheye cameras (now with automatic de-warping). Organizations can connect their current non-cloud-ready access control devices, cameras, and intrusion panels using Genetec appliances, avoiding the costs of replacing existing hardware. This flexibility further extends to deployment models. Security Center SaaS gives organizations full control over their cloud migration, supporting cloud-native, on-premises infrastructure, or a combination of both. Video can be stored at the edge or in the cloud, depending on bandwidth, policy, or operational needs, with centralized management through web and mobile apps. New edge recording via SD cards enables local storage on the camera, while recording profiles make it easy to define how and where video is captured across multiple devices. With built-in support for WebRTC, the platform also enables peer-to-peer video streaming directly from cameras to a web interface. This reduces video call-up time and bandwidth usage, making it ideal for live monitoring, spot checks, and large-scale deployments, without requiring additional configuration. Security Center SaaS simplifies the management of multi-site environments across sectors such as retail, education, corporate campuses, banking, healthcare, and city infrastructure. Operators can manage systems from a central Security Operations Center (SOC) or remotely via web and mobile apps. Real-time alerts enable teams to respond quickly and consistently, while its open architecture makes it easy to integrate partner technology that further enhances these capabilities. For example, new firearm detection analytics from Bosch can trigger immediate alerts and initiate event-to-action workflows the moment a weapon is identified, helping security teams act decisively when it matters most. 'Genetec is redefining what SaaS means for physical security. It's not just moving to the cloud; it's about giving customers and integrators the flexibility to build, scale, and evolve their systems,' said Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering at Genetec Inc. 'Security Center SaaS stands apart by unifying physical security functions on a single platform, continuously adding new cloud-native capabilities while supporting the hardware and deployment models organizations already rely on.' For more information about the latest enhancements to Security Center SaaS, Genetec is hosting a webinar on June 19, 12:00 pm EST: For more information about Genetec, visit

Genetec enhances Genetec Cloudrunner with new mapping tools for faster investigations
Powerful new visualization tools help law enforcement and security professionals analyze vehicle data with greater accuracy and efficiency. Genetec enhances Genetec Cloudrunner with new mapping tools for faster investigations MONTREAL, May 29, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Genetec Inc. ('Genetec'), the global leader in enterprise physical security software, today announced the introduction of advanced mapping functionalities in Genetec Cloudrunner™, its vehicle-centric investigative system. The new Report Map and Device Map features give law enforcement and security professionals the ability to visualize ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) information in an intuitive map interface, significantly improving investigative reach and operational efficiency. Interactive maps strengthen investigations and collaboration The Device Map feature enables investigators to see all connected Cloudrunner cameras around an investigation site. If they don't yet have access to a camera in a key location, they can easily initiate a third-party partnership request directly from within the map to obtain relevant data. This seamless process strengthens collaboration between law enforcement agencies, businesses, and security stakeholders, expanding investigative reach and enhancing overall security efforts. Targeted vehicle searches provide geographic and behavioral insightsThe Report Map feature provides an additional way to visualize vehicle-based data. It allows users to narrow down vehicle searches by selecting a geographic area on the map. Investigators can quickly visualize where reads and hits occur, uncover movement patterns, and analyze vehicle behavior, such as frequency and travel routes. Advanced filtering by characteristics like color, make, and partial plate numbers further refines searches, revealing where and how often specific vehicles have been detected. This provides valuable insights, helping investigators determine patterns of movement and potential crime hotspots. 'With Cloudrunner's new mapping tools, law enforcement, security directors, and loss prevention officers can quickly extract meaningful insights and act decisively,' said Larry Legere, Commercial Director at Genetec Inc. 'Whether investigating a crime in a dense urban area or tracking a vehicle of interest across jurisdictions, the new Cloudrunner mapping features provide them with a visual perspective to better understand the situation and plan an appropriate course of action.' The new mapping features are now available to Genetec Cloudrunner users in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Customers can access these capabilities instantly with no additional costs or setup required. Genetec launches AutoVu plugin, ALPR Analysis Reports to speed up investigations - Middle East Business News and Information
ALPR-based forensic searches increase investigator efficiency and provide actionable insights. Dubai, May, 2025 — Genetec Inc. ('Genetec'), the global leader in enterprise physical security software, announced the AutoVu™ ALPR Analysis Reports plugin , an advanced investigation tool that expands ALPR-based forensic search capabilities within Genetec™ Security Center. The new plugin empowers law enforcement officers and investigators to quickly narrow down a pool of suspects using vehicle behavior patterns—specifically driving speed and travel cohorts. By eliminating manual data sorting and enabling targeted, efficient analysis, the tool is designed to save investigators critical time. 'This plugin gives investigators what they need to close cases faster,' said Steve Hins, Product Group Manager, ALPR at Genetec Inc. 'With just a few clicks, they can spot patterns and behaviors in vehicle data that would otherwise take hours or days to uncover manually.' The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin offers two key functionalities: With the Cohort Analysis feature, investigators can identify vehicles that consistently travel with another vehicle of a known license plate—revealing patterns that may point to coordination, accomplices, or organized criminal activity. Instead of manually reviewing read reports, officers can input a known plate, select relevant ALPR cameras, and define how often vehicles appear together (e.g., within a few seconds, across multiple cameras). The system then identifies potential vehicle cohorts instantly. In cases like organized retail theft, this is especially valuable: a known suspect vehicle might be linked to multiple incidents, and cohort analysis can reveal if another vehicle, such as a getaway car, is consistently nearby, helping investigators quickly narrow down their pool of suspects. The Time and Speed Analysis feature enables investigators to quickly identify vehicles exhibiting outlier behavior, such as those fleeing a crime scene, by comparing the estimated speed of vehicles traveling between two ALPR cameras. Officers simply select cameras located within a zone of interest and define a time frame (e.g., one to five minutes). The system then generates a report listing all vehicles that passed both cameras, along with their estimated speeds. This enables investigators to immediately spot anomalies—such as a vehicle traveling 60 mph in an area where most were going 30—without sifting through thousands of license plate reads. In incidents like a hit-and-run, this tool helps pinpoint suspects in seconds by revealing which vehicles sped through a defined area right after the event. Availability: The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin is available globally as a paid add-on for Security Center, through the Genetec network of accredited channel partners.
