Upload birth, death data in 21 days, pvt hosps told
Ranchi: Private hospitals failing to upload births and deaths records on the civil registration system (CRS) portal would face penalty, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) said. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Though the CRS portal has enabled hospitals to submit data online, we are still receiving entries with incomplete documentation or beyond the 21-day period," deputy municipal commissioner Gautam Prasad Sahu said. "We have equipped every private hospital with unique hospital IDs to facilitate digital registration. But delays in uploading documents or improper filing defeat the purpose of digitisation," he said. "Hospitals were instructed to ensure that all supporting documents, such as ID proofs of parents and hospital discharge summaries, are uploaded correctly and within the timeframe," said Mukesh Ranjan, the assistant municipal commissioner. Applications received after the 21-day deadline will now attract a penalty of Rs 500 per case, officials said. The civic body would monitor if the hospitals were complying with the directive. Follow-ups would be conducted to reduce pendency and ensure citizens receive birth certificates without procedural hassles, they added.

Pay your holding tax by June 30, avail up to 10% rebate: Ranchi civic body
RANCHI : The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has already raked in 23% of its target revenue for the ongoing fiscal year through holding taxes, with over 54,709 households out of 2.34 lakh registered properties having paid their dues since April this year. "The RMC has collected Rs 22 crore in holding tax payments for the financial year 2025–26, achieving 23% of its annual target of Rs 97 crore," deputy municipal commissioner Gautam Prasad Sahu said. In a bid to encourage early payments, the civic body has announced rebates of up to 10% for those who pay by June 30. The highest rebate, 10%, is offered for payments made online, including through a newly launched WhatsApp chatbot – RMC Payment Mitra (Mobile No: 8986627070). This is the first time RMC is using a chatbot service for tax collection. "This year, a strong push is being made for digital payments. We've already crossed Rs 22 crore in collections within two months of launch," Sahu said. Apart from online, payments made at Jan Suvidha Kendras at the RMC headquarters and Doranda zonal office are eligible for a 7.5% rebate, while door-to-door collection through an authorised agency carries a 5% rebate. Additionally, certain categories such as senior citizens, persons with disabilities, transgender persons, and armed forces personnel can claim an extra 5% rebate upon submission of valid documents.

Ranchi civic body issues notices to PMAY beneficiaries over dues
RANCHI : The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) issued notices to 308 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana beneficiaries, especially from the Lighthouse Project (LHP), who failed to pay the instalments despite receiving allotment letters in 2022. The beneficiaries were asked to clear the dues by June 2, failing which their flat allotments would be cancelled. The LHP consists of 1,008 flats spread over 5.33 acres at Aani in Dhurwa. Each flat cost around Rs 13 lakh, of which Rs 6.5 lakh was subsidised by the Union and the state govts. The rest was to be given by the beneficiaries in five instalments. The instalments included Rs 5,000 security deposit, followed by Rs 20,000, and four payments of Rs 1,63,500 each. The RMC on Thursday held meetings with officials from Canara Bank and HDFC Bank to prioritise processing housing loan applications from the LHP beneficiaries. "We are coordinating with the banks to expedite housing loan approvals. Beneficiaries, who have applied or intend to apply for housing loans, should immediately approach these banks to avoid cancellation of their flat allotments. No further extensions would be granted," said deputy municipal commissioner Gautam Prasad Sahu.
