Windermere speedster CJ Bronaugh's gives Gators first top-100 commitment in '26 class
GAINESVILLE — Windermere cornerback CJ Bronaugh's commitment Wednesday gives Florida its first top-100 prospect of a 2026 class rising the rankings by the day. UF moved to No. 13 in 247Sports team composite rankings with the commitment of Bronaugh, considered the nation's No. 12 player at his position and No. 99 overall. He also holds the No. 9 spot in the Sentinel's 2026 Central Florida Super60 football prospects. Advertisement Bronaugh originally committed to Nebraska last fall. But he flipped to UF on Wednesday even after recently visiting Florida State, one of more than two dozen schools pursuing the 6-foot-1, 166-pound speedster from Winter Garden. Bronaugh compiled 30 tackles, three for loss, six interceptions, including three pick-sixes, and four pass breakups in eight games in 2024, according to MaxPreps. But Bronaugh was unstoppable in 2025 as a sprinter, highlighted by a 10.24 time in the 100-meter dash at the Florida Relays — to rank No. 3 all-time in the Orlando area. His 10.34 to win the Class 4A state title might be the last time he displayed his speed away from the football field. 'It's all about summer football workouts and my college visits,' Bronaugh told the Orlando Sentinel last week. 'I'm going to put on some more muscle and keep my speed up. It definitely helps to be fast on the field.' Advertisement Few will be faster than Bronaugh, who won his final 13 100 races, including nine in 2025 with six of them 10.34 or faster. He also had four 200 victories in four tries, including an area-best 20.87 in the 200 for a third school record. Bronaugh is the 13th commitment, and ninth in two weeks, for the Gators and coach Billy Napier. Edgar Thompson can be reached at egthompson@

Joel Klatt Reveals 'Must-Win' Game for Billy Napier and Florida
Joel Klatt Reveals 'Must-Win' Game for Billy Napier and Florida originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Last year, the Florida Gators found themselves in a precarious situation for a third straight year, eyeing a losing season towards the tail end of the schedule. Instead, Florida, under third-year head coach Billy Napier, won their final four games, including a blowout bowl victory over the Tulane Green Wave. Advertisement The mini-winning streak to end the year undoubtedly brought Napier goodwill among the fan base as he continues to try to return the Gators to their mid-2000s glory. However, Joel Klatt, a college football analyst for Fox Sports, believes Napier is still very much entering a make-or-break season in Gainesville. Florida head coach Billy Napier.© Brett Patzke-Imagn Images During The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast, the veteran college football analyst compared the Florida front man to another longtime head coach, saying, "Billy Napier is in the same exact category as Mike Norvell. 'We like you, but is this going to work?'" Klatt points towards Napier and Florida's strong finish to the season, with wins against the Ole Miss Rebels and LSU Tigers, as a reason for optimism. Napier also has a strong relationship with former five-star prospect and quarterback DJ Lagway. Advertisement However, the Gators will face a tough schedule in 2025, and Klatt points to their four-game stretch early in the season as a big moment for Napier. He calls for, at the very least, a split against the LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies, with Miami being the most pivotal. "You have to prove you are not the third-tier team in the state of Florida," said Klatt. He continued to emphasize the importance of their game against Miami, saying, "The game at Miami is actually the one where the pressure gets ratcheted up. Again, tough four-game stretch. I think they need 2-2. If you don't beat Miami, which other two teams are you beating? Insiders boost Florida basketball's repeat chances after NBA Draft decisions
The post Insiders boost Florida basketball's repeat chances after NBA Draft decisions appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Florida basketball team just won the national championship last month, and now the Gators are thinking about how they can do it again next season. There were a lot of question marks regarding what kind of talent Florida would get back for next season, and after the NBA Draft withdraw deadline, the team appears to be in great shape. Advertisement From big-time transfers choosing the Florida basketball team to guys like Alex Condon deciding to return, the offseason is off to a great start. In fact, ESPN's Jeff Borzello tabbed the Gators as one of the biggest winners from the NBA Draft withdraw deadline. 'Florida was one,' Borzello said. 'There were other winners, certainly — including Houston (Milos Uzan), Michigan (Lendeborg), Auburn (Tahaad Pettiford) and Kentucky (Otega Oweh) — but the Gators went from a borderline top-20 team to a legitimate contender to open the season as the No. 1 team with a real chance to win back-to-back titles. Florida was the beneficiary of Fland's withdrawal, as the Arkansas transfer ultimately committed to the Gators a week after making his decision. Then Alex Condon, a fringe first-round pick, also withdrew to return to Gainesville. With both officially in the fold, coach Todd Golden has as good a starting five as there is in college basketball.' This Florida basketball team isn't going to be the same as it was last year, and other players are going to have to step up. However, the pieces are there for the Gators to once again contend for a national championship. 'As I mentioned above, Florida ascends into the preseason No. 1 conversation as a result of their decisions. The Gators have a different roster construction from a year ago, when there were more clearly defined roles and arguably better balance and depth throughout the roster. But now Golden has two shot creators and shotmakers in [Boogie] Fland and Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee in the backcourt, and one of the best — certainly the biggest — frontcourt in the country with 6-11 Condon, 6-9 Thomas Haugh, 6-10 Rueben Chinyeluand 7-1 Micah Handlogten handling the lion's share of minutes.' It can be hard to keep players around after winning it all as some guys like to go out on top, but Florida has done a great job getting some of its best talent to return to Gainesville. On top of that, the Gators landed a couple of the best players in the transfer portal. All in all, it has been a successful offseason so far, and Florida has the talent to win another national championship.

GLEN ALLEN, Va. – There is a deep familiarity between the baseball programs at Battlefield and Gainesville. With their home fields separated by fewer than seven miles, the Prince William County foes are guaranteed two regular season matchups. But they knew that wouldn't be enough to settle the score this season.
