Transport Minister for retrofitting of autos with electric motors

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday urged automobile manufacturers to explore retrofitting existing autorickshaws with electric motors as a key step towards sustainable urban mobility. Speaking at the launch of Bajaj's electric three-wheeler, GOGO, he proposed a scheme to replace internal combustion engines (ICE) with battery-powered motors alongside an exchange programme for old vehicles. The Minister congratulated Bajaj Auto for its foray into the electric three-wheeler market and suggested that the company take the lead in developing retrofitting solutions. He noted that permissions for autorickshaws running on CNG, LPG, and electric power are in the pipeline, reflecting the government's commitment to greener transport alternatives. Mr. Prabhakar said that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the State government has introduced a zero-tax policy on electric vehicles to EV incentivise adoption. He said the sale of electric vehicles in the State is steadily increasing. As part of Telangana's broader environmental agenda, the Minister said efforts are underway to ensure that all public transport vehicle owners operating within Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road opt for electric power in order to curb pollution levels. Describing Bajaj's electric three-wheeler as a vehicle developed after extensive research and development, he emphasised its potential to set new benchmarks in the segment. Addressing concerns over a perceived drop in autorickshaw demand by passengers following the introduction of the Mahalakshmi Scheme that provides free bus rides for women, he clarified that such perceptions are misplaced. He pointed out that autorickshaws remain crucial for last-mile connectivity, transporting passengers from bus stops and metro stations to their homes.

Bajaj Auto launches all-new Electric Bajaj GOGO auto in Hyd

Hyderabad, May 13 (UNI) Bajaj Auto Limited, the world's most valuable two-wheeler and three-wheeler company, launched its all-new electric three-wheeler, the Bajaj GOGO Auto, in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Telangana Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who formally launched the vehicle, congratulated Bajaj Auto for introducing the new EV model. He noted that the initiative aligns with the Telangana government's vision of promoting clean and sustainable mobility, while also serving public needs. The Minister highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Telangana is offering 100 per cent free registration for EVs until 2026—a first-of-its-kind initiative in India. He noted that this has already boosted the sales of EVs across vehicle categories, from two-wheelers to luxury cars. In its broader effort to curb pollution, the state aims to encourage the use of EVs, CNG, and LPG vehicles across the proposed Regional Ring Road. As part of this strategy, TGSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) is preparing an action plan to introduce 800 electric buses in Hyderabad. Minister Prabhakar lauded the Bajaj GOGO as a convenient and comfortable commuting solution and expressed hope for a strong market response. He urged the company to collaborate with the state government's Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme, which has been allocated Rs 6,000 crore to support self-employment opportunities for the unemployed. Under this scheme, unemployed youth could purchase EVs like the Bajaj GOGO for self-sustaining livelihoods. He also suggested the introduction of vehicle exchange offers to allow existing auto-rickshaw owners to upgrade to EVs. Additionally, as a green initiative, he recommended offering a free sapling with each vehicle purchase to promote environmental sustainability. Speaking on the occasion, Samardeep Subandh, President of the Intra-City Business Unit at Bajaj Auto Limited, said, 'The launch of the all-electric Bajaj GOGO range of three-wheelers will set new benchmarks in the segment. Telangana, being one of India's largest three-wheeler markets, is a natural launchpad for the Bajaj GOGO. With a certified range of up to 251 km, segment-first features, and Bajaj's legacy of reliability and service, GOGO offers a complete solution for customers seeking high earnings with low maintenance. Backed by over 75 years of trust and purpose-built EV technology, the Bajaj GOGO is the ideal choice for both drivers and passengers, he added. The Bajaj GOGO comes in three variants – P5009, P5012, and P7012. In the model nomenclature, 'P' denotes 'Passenger', '50' and '70' represent size indicators, while '09' and '12' refer to battery capacities of 9 kWh and 12 kWh, respectively. The GOGO symbolises the vibrancy and dynamism of India's evolving three-wheeler segment and reflects Bajaj Auto's commitment to innovation, cultural relevance, and reliability. Passenger vehicle variants P5009 (priced at Rs 3,26,797) and P7012 (priced at Rs 3,83,004) are now available; bookings are open at all Bajaj Auto dealerships across India. 5-year battery warranty.

Gogo Inc. (GOGO): A Bull Case Theory

We came across a bullish thesis on Gogo Inc. (GOGO) on Substack by Pound the Rock Investing. In this article, we will summarize the bulls' thesis on GOGO. Gogo Inc. (GOGO)'s share was trading at $8.71 as of March 27th. GOGO's trailing and forward P/E were 87.10 and 17.42 respectively according to Yahoo Finance. A scientist in a lab examining a prototype RF chip for broadband radio transceiver front ends. Gogo, Inc. (GOGO) is a high-quality business aviation connectivity provider, though its stock has faced challenges due to management's delayed 5G rollout and concerns over SpaceX's Starlink disrupting its dominant market share. The repeated pushbacks on 5G have damaged management's credibility, and Gogo's failure to launch its competing low-earth orbit (LEO) solution, Galileo, in partnership with OneWeb, has led to stock selloffs following Starlink updates. The company's investment case hinges on its ability to execute the 5G rollout and compete in LEO, but its core business aviation segment remains exceptionally strong. Gogo commands over 90% market share in business aviation due to its proprietary air-to-ground (ATG) network, which is the only one of its kind in commercial use. The company has its systems installed in more than 7,000 aircraft, backed by valuable spectrum assets, and has spent hundreds of millions building its telecom infrastructure and forging deep distribution relationships. Gogo's dominance extends to over 70% of new OEM jet shipments, and existing jets can be easily retrofitted with new Gogo hardware as 5G becomes available. The business jet market is expanding at a double-digit rate, with in-flight connectivity penetration still below 30%, offering significant growth potential. As a near-monopoly, Gogo's business aviation segment generates EBITDA margins exceeding 40% and returns on invested capital above 30%. The key near-term catalyst is the expected launch of 5G and LEO services in late 2025. Once it becomes evident that Gogo will sustain its leadership, its recurring revenue base with minimal churn should command a valuation of at least 15x free cash flow. At that multiple, based on 2025 estimates, shares could double, while further market penetration and debt reduction could push intrinsic value to $30 per share by 2028. Gogo Inc. Nonstop Waukegan to Chicago, Milwaukee bus services starting soon; ‘A new, comfortable and efficient travel alternative'

Traveling nonstop from Waukegan to Chicago's Loop or downtown Milwaukee for as little as $10 while reclining in a leather seat on a luxury bus is about to become a reality this summer. GPGO Charters, a charter bus company based in San Antonio for the past 15 years is debuting a scheduled passenger service with six Midwestern routes, including one from Chicago to Madison, Wisconsin. Jonathon Schneider, the company's communications manager, said the stops along the Chicago-Madison route are Waukegan, Milwaukee and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, creating nonstop service for people in the Waukegan area to both Chicago and Milwaukee. 'We've sensed a need for this in the Midwest as legacy carriers are leaving the area,' Schneider said. 'We have reclining leather seats with armrests. There is Wi-Fi and bathrooms. Our buses aren't more than 5 years old.' A more than 10-year veteran of the transportation industry, company President Mark Thronson said in an email current conditions create an opportunity to make a move into scheduled passenger service. 'This is a very unique time for the industry,' Thronson said in the email. 'We've sensed a need, and with our expansive network and a significant investment in technology, we're building a program to meet this demand. (This) will bring a new, comfortable and efficient travel alternative to the region while also enhancing connectivity throughout.' Passengers will board and depart the bus at the Waukegan train station. Schneider said he estimates the cost between Waukegan and Chicago will be around $10. The ride to Milwaukee will likely be between $10 and $19. Costs are still being determined. Tickets can be purchased online or over the phone using the GOGO app. Schneider said depending on traffic, the trip should take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. A customer using their phone will know if the bus is on time. 'They'll definitely know if there is a delay,' he said. 'There's live tracking on the app.' By contrast, a train ride between Chicago and Waukegan costs $7.50 and the travel time is 90 minutes, according to the Metra website. Initially, Schneider said he anticipates there will be at least one bus per day in each direction on the Chicago-Madison route, but two is a definite possibility. There could be more on a weekend if Green Bay Packers fans are trying to get from Milwaukee to Chicago for a game. Waukegan Mayor Ann Taylor said she is happy to see the new bus service for city residents. It creates something currently not available, offers monetary savings and adds convenience. There are also environmental benefits. 'It's really good for people, especially seniors, who want to go to Chicago (or Milwaukee) and don't want to drive,' Taylor said. 'They don't have to worry about parking, or pay to park their car. With all the construction, it gets cars off the road and it's a more pleasant trip for everyone.' Once in Chicago, people can connect to two other routes, according to a GOGO press release. One goes to Indianapolis with a stop in Lafayette, Indiana, and another to Detroit with stops in South Bend, Indiana, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Other routes include one from Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio, with a stop in Dayton, Ohio, and another from Columbus to Cleveland stopping in Akron, Ohio. A Cleveland to Detroit trip stops in Toledo, Ohio.
