‘Modern Family' child star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, who played Lily, comes out as bisexual
A former 'Modern Family' child star has opened up to fans about her sexuality. Aubrey Anderson-Emmons played Lily Tucker-Pritchett, the adopted daughter of a same-sex couple, on the 22-time Emmy-winning series. And on Sunday, she took to TikTok to announce that she is bisexual. In her post, the 18-year-old lip-syncs to audio of a scene from the hit ABC show. 'No, I'm not, I'm gay! I'm gay!' her character says, while her stepgrandmother, Sofia Vergara's Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, tells her 'You are Vietnamese.' Her father Mitchell Pritchett, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, responds, 'You're not gay, you're just confused ... Oh my God, what is wrong with me?' However, the reveal came in the layover text, in which Anderson-Emmons wrote, 'People keep joking so much abt [sic] me being gay when I literally am (I'm bi).' The caption said, 'happy pride month and to all a good night.' Many fans rejoiced in the comments, with one claiming she was 'the sassy princess raised by two queens,' referencing her parents in the show, Mitchell Pritchett and Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet). Another simply joked that she was 'half gay, half Vietnamese,' based on the audio. 'Modern Family' has long been celebrated for its LGBTQ+ representation, with a specific highlight being the marriage between Mitch and Cam. Anderson-Emmons' character joined the show in its third season. During its 11-season run, the show earned nomination in the category of Outstanding Comedy Series at the GLAAD Media Awards for 10 consecutive years, winning in both 2011 and 2012. Since the series ended in April 2020, Anderson-Emmons has pivoted toward a music career. She recently released a single, 'Telephones and Traffic,' and teased another single, 'Don't Forget Me,' out on June 27.

The 'Modern Family' alum — known for playing Lily Tucker-Pritchett in the beloved sitcom — revealed she is bisexual in a video that paid homage to her character. In the social media clip posted via Threads on Monday, June 16, Anderson-Emmons was seen lip-syncing to an iconic scene from the ABC show, in which her character tells her TV dad, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Sofía Vergara she's gay. Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson dies at 82

File Photo by Jim Ruymen/UPI | License Photo June 11 (UPI) -- Beach Boys co-founder and accomplished composer Brian Wilson has died at the age of 82, his family announced on social media. Wilson's family shared news of the musician's death in an Instagram post on Wednesday. "We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away," the post reads. "We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world." The post did not offer any details on the potential cause of Wilson's death, but his legal team said last year that he was suffering from a neurocognitive disorder and was being placed in a conservatorship. Wilson rose to fame as a co-founder of the Beach Boys in the 1960s, when the band racked up a string of top 10 hits, including "I Get Around," "Surfin' U.S.A." and "Fun, Fun, Fun," which were all written or co-written by Wilson. The singer and musician's struggles with mental health and addiction led to his withdrawing from the Beach Boys' live performances in 1964, and he officially left the group in 1982. He would return to the band decades later to record the album That's Why God Made the Radio and perform in the Beach Boys' subsequent tour. Wilson earned two Grammy awards, as well as a lifetime achievement Grammy alongside the Beach Boys. He and the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. Wilson is survived by daughters Carnie and Wendy from his first marriage to Marilyn Rovell, and five adopted children from his second marriage to Melinda Ledbetter. Wilson and Ledbetter married in 1995, and remained together until Ledbetter's death in 2024. Wilson's story was explored in the 2014 biopic Love & Mercy, starring Paul Dano and John Cusack as younger and older versions of the music artist. Jason Constantine, Lionsgate exec for 'John Wick,' 'Saw,' dies at 55

Photo courtesy of Lionsgate June 5 (UPI) -- Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Jason Constantine died Thursday after a battle with cancer, the studio announced. He was 55. Under his tenure, Constantine oversaw Lionsgate original franchises such as John Wick, Saw and The Expendables. Lionsgate credits Constantine championing Saw from the "reverse bear trap" concept short James Wan directed with co-writer Leigh Whannell wearing the trap. The latest John Wick film, Ballerina, is in theaters Friday and Saw 11 is in development. Constantine rose from the role of director of acquisitions 25 years ago to co-president. Lionsgate also credited Constantine's direct involvement on their Best Picture winner Crash, the Oscar-wining Precious: Based on the Novel Push By Sapphire, the original Knives Out and more. "His career was built around the principles that a great idea can come from anywhere, a box office triumph is meant to be shared by an entire team and our creative choices need to be bold and daring," Lionsgate said in a statement. "With his fearless spirit, creative energy and enduring talent relationships, Jason embodied the very best of our studio and our industry." Constantine's family asks for donations to be made to Dr. Michael Lim's Research at Standford Medicine or the neuro-oncology team led by Dr. Tim Cloughesy and Dr. Robert Chong at UCLA in lieu of flowers. Japan's Shigeo Nagashima, known as 'Mr. Pro Baseball,' dies at 89

File Photo by Laura Cavanaugh/UPI | License Photo June 3 (UPI) -- Japanese sports icon Shigeo Nagashima, known as the country's "Mr. Pro Baseball," died from pneumonia Tuesday, Tokyo's Yomiuri Giants announced. He was 89. The Giants said Nagashima died at 6:39 a.m. local time Tuesday at a hospital in Tokyo. The team plans to establish a memorial Wednesday and Thursday in the main square of Giants Town Stadium. "We offer our heartfelt condolences," the Giants said in a statement. Nagashima, who played third base, signed his first professional contract in 1957. He helped the Giants win nine-consecutive Japan Series titles from 1965 to 1973, while scooping up batting titles and MVP awards. He hit .305 with 2,471 hits and 444 home runs over his 17-year playing career, and he was inducted into Japan's Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988. Several MLB clubs attempted to lure Nagashima to the United States, but were unable to purchase his contract. He later became the Giants' manager and then worked as a TV commentator, but eventually returned to the dugout to help the Giants win two Japan Series crowns. He was made the Giants' lifetime honorary manager because of his dugout success. "Hearing the tragic news, I cannot find words to express my feelings," Giants owner Toshikazu Yamaguchi said in a statement issued to the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper. "In my childhood, the Giants meant a team with Mr. Nagashima. That sentiment still has not changed. "He was a man with a burning spirit who was difficult to defeat, and he had a bright personality like the shining sun. He was a superstar who physically symbolized the age of rapid economic growth. He was 'Mr. Pro Baseball,' who led the nation's baseball world. "Even after he began suffering from the illness, his passion for baseball never waned and he encouraged managers, coaches and players. His aims will surely be carried on by his junior fellows." Japan Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani were among others who praised Nagashima. Ishiba told reporters that Nagashima was "like the shining sun and a symbol of hope to everyone." Ohtani posted several pictures of himself alongside Nagashima on his social media accounts.
