Cops arrest two men in hunt for killers

Two men have been charged with the murder of Adelaide man Bill Frangos whose body was discovered in his burnt-out house about five months ago. Police allege Mr Frangos was murdered at his home on Essex St in Woodville Gardens on November 7 last year before his killers returned three hours later and set fire to his house to destroy the evidence. CCTV captured two men in nearby streets along with a grey Holden Commodore on the night Mr Frangos died, images police released to the public last month to help identify the men they believed killed Mr Frangos. 'A man wearing a backpack was seen walking from the grey Commodore towards the Essex St house and a short time later CCTV captured (the home) erupting in flames,' a police spokesman said. 'The vision also shows what detectives believe to be the same man then running back to Ridley Grove and leaving the area in a southerly direction in the grey Commodore.' Police arrested a man from Novar Gardens and another man from Fullham Gardens, both aged 27, on Friday. They were charged with murder, arson and destroying human remains and are due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday. 'SAPOL thank the public who have come forward and provided invaluable assistance in this investigation and contributed to the arrest of the two suspects,' a police spokesman said.

Bombshell as cops close in on killers

Detectives have made a major breakthrough in the hunt for two people suspected of murdering an Adelaide man, revealing they returned to the scene of the crime three hours later and set his house alight to destroy the evidence. Bill Frangos was killed at his Essex St home in Woodville Gardens, in Adelaide's north, between November 6 and 7 last year. Police believe two men of African appearance are responsible for the murder and knew Mr Frangos, returning to his home in a grey Holden Commodore before they set it alight about 3.30am on November 7. CCTV shows the grey Commodore had a silver front bumper panel, damage to the front passenger door and a black tyre rim on the front passenger side. It was parked on Ridley Grove, a short distance from Mr Frangos' home at Woodville Gardens. 'A man wearing a backpack was seen walking from the grey Commodore towards the Essex Street house and a short time later CCTV captured (the home) erupting in flames,' a police spokesman said. 'The vision also shows what detectives believe to be the same man then running back to Ridley Grove and leaving the area in a southerly direction in the grey Commodore.' In November last year, detectives released footage of a red Falcon XR6 ute leaving the vicinity of the murder. That car has now been seized. New CCTV shows two men of African appearance running to the ute before it leaves. It also captured the men walking between Mr Frangos' home and the red ute parked nearby on Parker St multiple times between 10.30pm and midnight on November 6. 'Detectives believe the same two men are responsible for Mr Frangos' murder and the subsequent arson attack on his home,' a spokesman said. 'It is believed the two men and Mr Frangos were acquainted and the murder is not random.' Major Crime Investigation Branch Officer-in-Charge Darren Fielke said the net was closing in on the people responsible for Mr Frangos' murder. 'It is a distinctive vehicle, particularly with the silver front bumper panel, that people will certainly recognise,'' he said. 'The investigation is now moving rapidly, but we are still seeking information from the public to obtain more evidence that will assist us in rebuilding the full picture of what happened that night. 'We are confident there will be a resolution in the case as investigations continue. 'Now is the time to come forward with information.'' Police urged anyone with any information on the grey Commodore or the people associated with it to contact Crime Stoppers.
