Trump's military parade in trouble? First Republicans back out — now TV giants like CBS, NBC, ABC might barely air it

On June 14 to mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. Army and mainly for Trump's birthday, his team organized a large military parade in Washington, D.C. The parade will have helicopters, Bradley vehicles, fireworks, and a parachute jump by the Golden Knights team. Big TV networks like CBS, NBC, and ABC are not fully airing the parade. They will not stop their regular shows for it, says reports. ABC will air the parade on its online news channel, ABC News Live, starting at 6 p.m. NBC will also stream it on NBC News Now, not on the main NBC channel. CBS will stream it on CBS News 24/7, not on their main channel either. Fox News is going all in, they'll show 4 hours of live parade coverage from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m, as reported by Variety. Lawrence Jones and Emily Compagno will be the lead host for Fox's parade coverage from D.C. Earlier, Fox & Friends Weekend broadcast live from West Potomac Park with guests including Army Secretary Dan Driscoll. NewsNation will also show long coverage, with Leland Vittert and Anna Kooiman hosting 'Tribute to America' starting at 6 p.m. Big TV networks avoid full coverage Their morning show 'Morning in America' will show the Army drill team and military vehicles too. ABC is sticking to its plan to show the UFL Championship game at night, since sports draw more live viewers. NBC will show the U.S. Open golf tournament during parade time and then reality shows, as stated in the report by Variety. CBS will air its local news and other programs like 'Elsbeth' and '48 Hours' after the parade. Fox will skip the parade and show baseball, Yankees vs Red Sox or Padres vs Diamondbacks. Trump's White House doesn't have a strong bond with big TV networks. He's sued ABC and CBS recently, according to reports. Live Events Disney which owns ABC paid $15 million to Trump's library after an anchor wrongly said Trump was found guilty of rape. Actually, the jury found him liable for sexual abuse, not rape, and Trump denied it. CBS's parent company is fighting a lawsuit from Trump about a Kamala Harris interview on '60 Minutes', as mentioned in the report by Variety. This lawsuit might be used to slow down CBS's important merger with Skydance Media. MSNBC will only give light coverage and let anchor Ali Velshi cover 'news as it happens.' CNN didn't share any info on their parade coverage plans, as per reports. FAQs Q1. Why won't ABC, CBS, and NBC show Trump's parade fully? They are busy showing sports or regular shows, and don't want to stop for the parade. Q2. Which TV channels will show the full parade? Fox News and NewsNation will show full live coverage with hosts and special programs.

Trump names Fox News host as top Washington prosecutor

The brash 73-year-old has been selected to work as interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia, plucked from one of Trump's favourite hiring pools: right-leaning television networks. 09 May 2025 01:19pm Jeanine Pirro speaks following an exclusive interview with Daniel Penny for Fox Nation on Dec 10, 2024 in New York City.(Photo by John Lamparski / AFP) WASHINGTON - Donald Trump on Thursday appointed TV personality and former judge Jeanine Pirro to a key post in the US judiciary, the president's latest nomination of a Fox News on-air host to a position of government power. The brash 73-year-old has been selected to work as interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia, plucked from one of Trump's favourite hiring pools: right-leaning television networks. Other hires from cable news include Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, who co-hosted "Fox & Friends Weekend," and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, a former reality TV show competitor and Fox Business co-host. The pick came soon after Trump pulled his first choice for the post, a defense lawyer who represented defendants charged in the Jan 6, 2021 storming of the US Capitol. Pirro briefly entered politics in ill-fated attempts to run for the US Senate and for New York Attorney General, losing the latter race to Democrat Andrew Cuomo. She began earning wider public exposure by hosting a weekday television show, "Judge Jeanine Pirro," from 2008 to 2011. That year she joined Fox News Channel to host "Justice with Judge Jeanine," which ran for 11 years, and today she is a co-host of the network's show, "The Five." Pirro has also authored several books, including "Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy," from 2018. The Washington Post described the book as "sycophantic" in its support for Trump. After promoting unfounded conspiracy theories alleging election fraud in 2020, Pirro was named a defendant in a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems, which said Fox broadcast false statements about the company. Fox News settled the case for nearly $800 million. - AFP More Like This

Jeanine Pirro sworn in as interim US Attorney in DC

(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump held the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday for Jeanine Pirro as the interim attorney for Washington, D.C. Pirro, a former Fox News host and county prosecutor, was picked by Trump earlier this month after abandoning his first pick for the job. 'She will always be known as a great prosecutor and a great lawyer, Trump said.' Trump tapped Pirro to temporarily lead the nation's largest U.S. Attorney's office. 'President Trump, you have remained steadfast as one of my earliest supporters and champions,' Pirro acknowledged. 'You never wavered. You were always steadfast, trustworthy, and confident.' 5 ways the 'big, beautiful bill' could impact Americans Pirro becomes the latest in a string of Trump appointments from Fox News, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who co-hosted 'Fox & Friends Weekend.' 'It is a larger arena, but no less an arena where we need justice, where we need to send a message that justice will be honored in the District of Columbia,' added Pirro. ' Trump also touched on a number of topics, including a new term sheet that hopefully would lead to a long-term resolution in Gaza, negotiations ongoing with Iran and agreeing to sit down with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to broker a peace deal between the two nations. Trump to swear in Jeanine Pirro as top prosecutor in DC

President Donald Trump will swear in Jeanine Pirro as the interim U.S. attorney for D.C. during a ceremony in the Oval Office Wednesday afternoon -- making her the latest Fox News host appointed by Trump. Earlier this month, Trump tapped Pirro -- a former judge and prosecutor who most recently hosted Fox News' "The Five" -- for the job after controversy around his previous pick, Ed Martin. Martin, who had served as D.C.'s interim top prosecutor, lost GOP support for the job. Martin's past, specifically his defense of Jan. 6 rioters and inflammatory rhetoric around the Capitol attack, plagued his nomination. Pirro, a Trump ally, faced her first test as the top federal prosecutor in Washington last week when she spoke about the response to the deadly shooting of two Israeli Embassy staffers. During a news conference, Pirro said her office is investigating the case as a hate crime and act of terrorism. "A young couple at the beginning of their life's journey, about to be engaged in another country, had their bodies removed in the cold of the night in a foreign city in a body bag. We are not going to tolerate that anymore," Pirro said during a press briefing last Thursday. "Antisemitism will not be tolerated, especially in the nation's capital." Pirro marks the latest Fox News personality to join the ranks of the Trump administration. Some of the most notable Fox News alumni appointed in Trump's second administration include Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who hosted "Fox & Friends Weekend," and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, who hosted "Unfiltered With Dan Bongino" before he left the network in 2023. Pirro has been a longtime ally of Trump, dating back to her time as a prominent prosecutor in New York. She was an early supporter of his 2016 campaign and publicly defended him during the "Access Hollywood" tape scandal. One of Trump's final acts before leaving office in 2021 was issuing a last-minute pardon to Pirro's ex-husband, a longtime GOP donor. With less than an hour before his term ended, Trump granted one final pardon to Albert Pirro, who was convicted more than two decades ago on 34 counts of conspiracy and tax evasion after he was found to have improperly deducted over $1 million in lavish personal expenses in tax write-offs for his businesses.
