When to watch new Netflix special of Emmy-winning comic
Vir Das: Fool Volume OTT Release Date - Vir Das is back. And not just with another comedy special, but this one, dropping on July 18 on Netflix, is perhaps his most vulnerable and personal work to date. For a comedian who's made people laugh across continents, this one comes from a quieter, more introspective space, quite literally. Two months before shooting an entirely different special, Vir lost his voice, and with that, the original plan went out the window. What emerged instead was something raw and performed without rehearsal across the world. More about Vir Das: Fool Volume This is Vir's fifth Netflix special, a first for any Indian stand-up comic. From Abroad Understanding to Landing, which earned him an International Emmy, he's taken Indian comedy global without ever diluting its soul. But Fool Volume is an admission: that in a world obsessed with being right, maybe being the fool is the smartest thing you can do. Vir describes it in his own words: 'The universe had other plans. I lost my voice. This is a show rewritten in silence and performed without rehearsal across the world. Turns out the voice in your head is way crazier than the one in your throat.' You get a sense that this is him opening a little more than usual. Still sarcastic, still sharp, still Vir, but with some bruises showing. View this post on Instagram The special, backed by Netflix's global production muscle, has been tested and performed to live audiences worldwide before being filmed. What also makes Fool Volume stand out is its timing. With the world still reeling from constant chaos and noise, Vir flips the mic toward silence, asking what it really means to use your voice. So, if you're looking for loud gags and fake laughs, maybe skip this one. But if you're up for some real talk, a few nervous giggles, and that one moment where you pause and go 'damn, that's true' — then Fool Volume is worth your time.
