First look at TRNSMT 2025 as festival unveils new layout
Scotland's biggest music festival has unveiled a new layout ahead of its annual takeover of Glasgow Green. Headline acts at TRNSMT 2025 include Snow Patrol, Gracie Abrams, 50 Cent, and Fontaines D.C. A wide range of musical acts, including JADE, Myles Smith and Tom Walker, Arthur Hill and The View frontman Kyle Falconer, have also been announced for the three-day event this summer. The new site map, which will welcome music lovers from Friday, July 11, reveals that the East Entrance is now for Accessible ticket holders only, and all General Admission ticket holders must enter through the West Entrance. VIP ticket holders are asked to arrive through the VIP entrance as they have done in previous years. TRNSMT via Supplied TRNSMT's new layout for 2025. BBC Radio One Dance is bringing back its much-loved Boogie Bar to feature some of the best dance music at Glasgow Green. Among those includes Jaguar, Arielle Free and Charlie Hedges, alongside homegrown talent Hayley Zalassi and La La, with Irish DJ singer-songwriter, JAZZY. Revellers can visit the Rockstar Energy Drink Bar, Pepsi Max, Jägermeister's Jägerplatz, Smirnoff Bar, as well as Three's 'Charge and Vibe' and a second charging station. Also returning will be the Hangout, the home of secret sets, an over-18s space which will host Bongo's Bingo and Drag-aoke. The smallest stage at the festival hosted one of the biggest moments last year when Travis stepped out to perform their back catalogue to a small crowd. This year, there are gaps in the schedule, suggesting fans will be treated to special secret performances once again. A festival spokesperson said: 'We're buzzing to share the official TRNSMT site map with fans – it means we're one step closer to gates opening! 'It's the perfect tool to start planning your weekend, from finding your favourite stage to checking out bars, food spots, and all the key information to make the most of your festival experience. 'We can't wait to welcome everyone to Glasgow Green very soon!' The organisers also revealed festival-goers can plan their weekend of music with TRNSMT's app, allowing them to create a personalised schedule of their favourite artists set times. The festival is set to take place from July 11 to 13, with day tickets starting from £89. 50 Cent The Script Wet Leg Jamie Webster Confidence Man Twin Atlantic The Royston Club Calum Bowie Tanner Adell Good Neighbours Arthur Hill NOFUN! Fontaines DC, CMAT, Charli XCX, bar prices... five talking points from Primavera Sound 2025
1. The Irish contingent With CMAT packing out the Cupra stage on day one, it didn't take us long to realise the Irish contingent at Primavera Sound 2025 was significant. Throughout the weekend, Irish tricolours (often accompanied by the Palestinian flag) and a variety of county and green jerseys littered every crowd. No matter where we were, be it at the main stages, food stalls or in the queue for the toilets, we met our fellow countrymen. Speaking of CMAT, the Dunboyne country-pop star played a blinder, bringing her 'sexy CMAT band' to Barcelona's beachside. Hits like I Wanna be a Cowboy, Baby! got reliably strong reactions, but her new stuff went down just as well, with the whole crowd joining in with her viral TikTok dance for latest single Take A Sexy Picture Of Me. We even spotted former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in the crowd. Dubliners Fontaines D.C also gave a stellar performance on the main stage, with frontman Grian Chatten keeping his on-stage remarks to a simple 'Free Palestine'. During I Love You, the band used their platform to call for the crowd to use their own voices with a message appearing on screens: 'Israel is committing genocide. Use your voice.' 2. Breezy bar experiences One of our highlights has to be just how breezy every bar experience was. We can't recall waiting more than five minutes at any stage for a drink. And, naturally, the cost of those drinks was a lot more affordable in comparison to irish festival prices. Beers and wines were between €5 and €6.50. The most we ever paid for a drink was €7.50 for an aperol spritz. Food stalls had longer wait times but were still very manageable. Prices here were more similar to Irish festival experiences with a pot of noodles €14 and a (very generous) portion of chicken dumplings €11. One gripe was you could only get drinks - including water and soft drinks - at the bars so you had to queue separately to get a beverage with your food. 'Israel is committing genocide. Use your voice' displayed on the screens at Primavera by Fontaines DC. 3. Europe finally gets Sweat With Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan headlining each day of the Spanish festival, this really was the place to be for the girls, the gays and the theys. We kicked off Friday night with Sweat — a hybrid show with Charli XCX and Australian pop star Troye Sivan. The friends and collaborators designed the stadium show last year to promote their respective albums, Brat and Something To Give Each Other, to a US audience. This was the first time Europe got to experience this unique gig, with each artist playing three or four songs at a time before disappearing to allow the other take to the stage. Despite Sivan's impeccable vocals and choreography, he simply couldn't compete with the crowds hunger for Charli. From the moment she stepped on stage in a white bra and underwear (with four outfit changes to come), the crowd went feral. With zero props (unless you count a glass of wine and strobing lights) the energy seemed to jump ten-fold every time she reappeared on stage — and crash back down to earth when she departed. If anything, it made us even more hyped for the 100% Charli show Irish fans can look forward to in Malahide Castle next week. 4. Chappell Roan domination The Midwest Princess was our highlight on Saturday night. With an elaborate stage set up, an all-girl band and plenty of fireworks, the drag-adjacent superstar delivered a stellar show peppered with emotional ballads and straight up pop bangers. Anger, lust, sadness, love... it felt like every emotion was given it's fair due on stage by the Pink Pony Club singer. We have no doubt she will be a highlight of this year's Electric Picnic festival. Chappell Roan on stage at Primavera Sound. 5. A taste of what's in store for Irish fans With Chappell Roan touching down in Stradbally later this summer and Fontaines D.C and CMAT set to headline All Together Now, Primavera got us properly warmed up for the Irish festival season ahead. Other acts we saw that we just can't wait to see again? Wet Leg absolutely smashed the Cupra stage, while Australia's Confidence Man were our perfect final act to close out the festival. Both are on Irish soil in August at All Together Now and Electric Picnic, respectively.

Will Kneecap play Wide Awake and Glastonbury? Where the band goes from here
On May 21, it was announced that Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh was charged with a terrorism offence. The charge – which was made under the Anglicised version of his name, Liam O'Hanna – alleges that the band member allegedly displayed a flag in support of the terrorist group Hezbollah at a gig in North London last November. It's just the latest episode in a saga that stretches back all the way to February, when the Northern Irish band got into hot water for displaying a sign that read 'Free Palestine, Fuck Israel' at their Coachella gig. That sparked an international furore, which was only heightened when the British counter-terrorism police announced that they were opening an investigation into the band's conduct at two of their London concerts in recent years. Kneecap have strongly defended themselves the whole way through. But with an actual police charge under their belts now – and a summer full of gigs on the horizon – what now for the band? And will they play Glastonbury later this year? Here's what we know. As of today, the band has given no indication of whether they will play their headline slot at the upcoming Wide Awake festival in Brockwell Park on Friday – or indeed, if they will be able to. In the meantime, Kneecap have released a statement saying that the decision to charge Ó hAnnaidh is 'political policing' and part of a 'carnival of distraction.' 'We deny this offence and will vehemently defend ourselves,' the band wrote in a statement released since the news broke. They're not backing down – so unless Wide Awake post anything in the next 24 hours, it certainly looks like their gig is going to happen. The band are scheduled to play a host of festivals around the UK – and the world – in coming months, including at Barcelona festival Primavera, Northside Festival in Denmark and at Finsbury Park in July, supporting Fontaines D.C. Some of these (like that at the Eden Project) have already been cancelled. There has also been controversy over the remaining gigs. According to the Daily Mail, a group of music industry agents have allegedly written to Glastonbury, urging the organisers to ban them from playing. The email chain was apparently leaked to Kneecap, who threatened to take legal action in return. So far, Glastonbury themselves have said nothing about whether or not the band will be playing for the festival, which this year starts on June 26. In terms of the legal situation, Ó hAnnaidh is due to appear in front of the Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 18, but hasn't been taken into custody. There already has been. Kneecap have already teased new music in the wake of the controversy around their Coachella set earlier this year. 'Yis don't wanna miss this one,' they wrote, in an Instagram post accompanying the news. The song, which is titled The Recap and is a collaboration with the drum and bass artist Mozey, starts with a clip of a news presenter talking about the police investigation into the band. 'There's a little bit of breaking news to bring you and that is that counter-terrorism police will investigate the rap trio Kneecap,' the presenter says. The band have form with this – their song Fine Art also featured a remix of a news report from the BBC's Steven Nolan. There are also rumours of a collab with The Streets' Mike Skinner: so stay tuned.

Tickets sell out for Fontaines D.C. major Belfast gig with Kneecap as special guests
Tickets for a major Fontaines D.C. gig in Belfast, where rap trio Kneecap will join them as special guests, have sold out just hours after going on sale. The Dublin band confirmed on their Instagram account that tickets for the show had quickly sold out on Friday morning. Advertisement The concert will take place on August 29th at the Boucher Road Playing Fields as part of the 2025 edition of Belfast Vital. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Fontaines D.C. (@fontainesband) The gig will come at the end of a busy summer of activity for Fontaines D.C. In addition to their 24-date North American tour, which culminates in three sold-out shows at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on May 16th-18th, the band will perform to 100,000 people across four UK outdoor headline shows. These include a 45,000-capacity event at London's Finsbury Park on July 5th alongside events in Manchester, Cardiff and Newcastle. Advertisement Kneecap are also confirmed to join as special guests at the London and Manchester shows. It comes after a week of controversy for the Irish-language rappers, who ended their set at the second weekend of the Coachella music festival in California with three messages on a screen that accused Israel of genocide and war crimes against Palestinians. Ireland Kneecap received death threats after Coachella gig... Read More The statements read: 'Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people', 'It is being enabled by the US government who arm and fund Israel despite their war crimes' and 'F*** Israel. Free Palestine.' Former music manager Sharon Osbourne criticised the statements and called for Kneecap's US work visas to be revoked. The group later posted to X and said they had received 'hundreds of violent Zionist threats' due to the statements. In an interview on RTÉ radio, Kneecap's manager Daniel Lambert confirmed the band had received death treats , and that the nature of the threats would be 'too severe' to outline on air.
