When is Jack Draper playing today? Joao Fonseca match start time and how to watch French Open live
Jack Draper's Roland Garros campaign will continue this afternoon as the British No1 lines up opposite Joao Fonseca in round three. This year has already borne Draper's best French Open performance - he had never previously made it past the first round in Paris. He is eyeing the title after playing some of the best clay-court tennis of his career this season. Advertisement He opened the year with a win on hard courts at Indian Wells, the first masters title of his career, before reaching the Madrid Open final and Italian Open quarter-finals, which he lost to Casper Ruud and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively. His route to round three at Roland Garros has been a challenging one - he required four sets to edge past Mattia Bellucci in the first round, before battling past the veteran Gael Monfils in a gruelling affair under the lights on Court Philippe-Chatrier. Fonseca last met Draper at Indian Wells and was beaten in short order, losing 6-4 6-0 in the round of 64 as the Briton cruised to the final. The up-and-coming 18-year-old is in the midst of his debut Roland Garros campaign, but faces a mighty task to progress beyond Draper. Jack Draper on song as Joao Fonseca goes wrong
Paris, May 31 (UNI) Britain's Jack Draper produced a dominant display to outclass Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 and enter the fourth round of the French Open for the first time in his career, here on Saturday. Draper, seeded fifth, needed just under two hours on Court Suzanne Lenglen to dismantle the challenge of the 18-year-old Fonseca, who had caught the public's imagination with his fearless run in Paris. The 23-year-old Briton won an impressive 93 per cent of points on his first serve and saved both break points he faced, while converting five of the 11 break points he earned on the Fonseca serve. The Brazilian, despite flashes of brilliance, struggled with consistency and finished with 38 unforced errors. Draper dictated terms from the outset, racing through the first set in under half an hour. Fonseca attempted to mount a challenge in the second but failed to sustain pressure on the Draper serve. The third set followed a similar pattern, with Draper maintaining control to seal a comprehensive straight-sets victory. "It's special to reach the second week of a Slam for the first time, and to do it here at Roland Garros feels amazing,' Draper said after the match. Fonseca, who had stunned higher-ranked opponents en route to the third round, exits the tournament with his reputation enhanced. He is the youngest man to reach the third round in Paris since Carlos Alcaraz in 2021. Draper will next face Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik in the fourth round. UNI BDN GNK

Sinner, Draper and Zverev move ahead with ease
PA Media/DPA Paris Jannik Sinner is clearly making up for lost time at this year's French Open. The world number one, who only returned from a three-month doping ban three weeks ago, raced into the fourth round in just 94 minutes. Sinner won the first 11 games against Czech Jiri Lehecka on his way to a commanding 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 victory. 'This morning I said to my team I'm feeling well and physically ready,' said the Italian. 'We had to go hard in the beginning because the beginning in grand slams is very important for confidence. I warmed up well, I felt very good so after 20-25 minutes I was feeling brave. 'My team gave me the right tactics, I tried to play them in the match so it's a combination of also being happy on court - it's very important. 'After today I don't think there's much I can improve but every opponent is different.' Sinner will meet Russian 17th seed Andrey Rublev on Monday. Meanwhile, Frenchman Arthur Fils has revealed he won a five-set match on Thursday despite having a stress fracture in his back. The 20-year-old 14th seed, who beat Jaume Munar in a marathon match lasting four and a half hours, has been forced to withdraw from the tournament. He said: 'I had some issue with the back for a long time, and during the match against Munar it got worse. 'Then I did some examinations. They were not good at all. I've got some stress fracture.' Fils was unsure whether he will be fit enough in time to compete at Wimbledon. Draper beats teenager Fonseca Jack Draper extended his stay in Paris into the second week after sweeping aside Brazilian teenager João Fonseca to reach the fourth round. The British number one out-thought and outmuscled his 18-year-old opponent, thudding 32 winners in a commanding 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 victory in just an hour and 46 minutes. 'I played good, the first set was really key,' he said. 'I got on top of him and used my forehand really well. 'Mentally it was a good performance from me today. I'm happy to be in the second week here and hopefully there's more to come.' Fonseca is a precocious talent who brings a huge, noisy contingent of supporters from his homeland wherever he goes. There were fans in the famous yellow football shirts dotted all around Court Suzanne-Lenglen and they were making themselves heard throughout the early stages. But Draper, who dealt with a partisan crowd when he beat 38-year-old Frenchman Gael Monfils on Thursday night, dampened the South American enthusiasm as he raced away with the first set in just half-an-hour. Draper dominated the second, although he did have to save a break point with an ace as he served for it, before a Fonseca error sealed the deal. A relentless Draper kept the pressure on in the third, breaking in the first game after a punishing rally to take a decisive lead. The fifth seed's victory was sealed when a demoralized Fonseca could only plant a return apologetically into the net. Zverev hails show court Alexander Zverev was pleased to be back on Court Philippe-Chatrier despite some bad memories as he eased into the French Open last 16. The German world number three beat Italian clay court specialist Flavio Cobolli 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 on Saturday to reach the fourth round at the second grand slam of the tennis season for the eighth time in a row. Zverev has made at least the semi-finals in each of the last four years, and in 2024 lost the final to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in five sets. Three years ago, he suffered a serious ankle injury on the court in the semi-final against Rafael Nadal. 'This court is special for me. I had my best, but also the bitterest moment of my career here,' Zverev, who has yet to win a grand slam, said courtside after his first match on the main Paris court this year. Zverev converted his fourth match point against Cobolli after 2 hours 30 minutes. The Italian had recently taken the title in Zverev's home city of Hamburg. 'It was tough for me for a long time today. The second set was decisive, after that the match went my way,' added Zverev. The German will now face Tallon Griekspoor on Monday, having beaten the Dutchman in three hard-fought sets en route to Munich glory in April. Zverev is the clear favourite against Griekspoor, but his future opponents on the Roland Garros red dust are likely to get much tougher. In the quarter-finals, he could face off against record grand slam champion Novak Djokovic from Serbia. World number one Jannik Sinner possibly awaits in the semi-finals.

Alexander Zverev, Jack Draper Advance To French Open 2025 Fourth Round
German third seed Alexander Zverev booked his ticket to the fourth round of the French Open on Saturday with a three-set win over Italian Flavio Cobolli. The three-time Grand Slam runner-up won through 6-2, 7-6 (7/4), 6-1 in two hours 30 minutes, and next plays 35th-ranked Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor. "It's a tournament I look forward to the most during the year," said Zverev after his match on Court Philippe Chatrier. "Especially this court is so special to me. I've had some of the best and worst memories of my life on this court. "The crowd always supports me. The love story continues." Zverev has reached at least the semi-finals on each of his last four appearances at Roland Garros. "He (Cobolli) probably should have won the second set, but I kept fighting and then I had a bit of a mental advantage and it went my way." Griekspoor battled past American Ethan Quinn 4-6, 6-1, 6-7 (2/7), 6-1, 6-4 in three hours 16 minutes. Draper beats Fonseca Britain's Jack Draper proved too strong for Brazilian teenage sensation Joao Fonseca in the third round at Roland Garros on Saturday as he progressed to the last 16 in straight sets. The fifth seed produced a polished performance in seeing off the 18-year-old 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 in front of a Court Suzanne Lenglen which featured an audible core of Brazilian supporters. Draper, the runner-up at the Madrid Open this season, will next face former world number 17 Alexander Bublik or 200th-ranked Henrique Rocha for a spot in the quarter-finals. Draper eased ahead of Fonseca with an early break to lead 2-1 in the first set, before the world number five broke again and held service to clinch the opener. The Briton survived two break-back points while serving for the second set but managed to see out the tightly-contested frame when Fonseca dumped an attempted forehand winner into the net. Defeat in the 10th game of the second set seemed to deflate Fonseca as Draper immediately broke him twice to race into a 4-0 lead in the decider before serving out for the win. Draper now holds a 2-0 record over Fonseca, with their previous meeting ending in a straight-sets victory for the 23-year-old at Indian Wells earlier this year. That match was the start of Draper's successful run in the Californian desert, which culminated in his first Masters title.
