Yog: The Art of Attention In A Distracted World
"Yog is the journey of the self, through the self, to the Self" – Bhagwad Gita 6.20 On this , as yoga mats unfurl across continents and millions synchronise their breath to a timeless rhythm, let us pause and reflect—not merely on posture or flexibility—but on the inner posture of the mind, the quiet alignment of attention with the divine. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In the sixth chapter of the Bhagwad Gita, Krishn elevates the discourse on yog from the external to the internal. He asserts that Karm Yog —performing one's worldly duties without attachment—is nobler than renunciation. But beyond all, the yogi who meditates with unwavering devotion to the Divine is supreme (6.47). This vision of yog is not escapism, but a precise alignment of our attention, energy, and time with spiritual realization. The Age of Scattered Attention Modern life is not short of stimulation, but it is starved of stillness. In an era of infinite scrolling, attention has become our rarest resource. And as the Gita proclaims, 'Elevate yourself through the power of your mind, not degrade yourself; for the mind is both friend and enemy' (6.5). This internal war—between the distracted and the disciplined mind—is where yog truly begins. Focus: The Spiritual Muscle often emphasised the role of disciplined attention as the core of spiritual training . He said, "The difference between an ordinary man and a great man lies in the degree of concentration." Yog is the ancient art of winning that battle. It is the practice of bringing the mind back—again and again—to the Divine, as described in Gita 6.26: 'Whenever the mind wanders... bring it back under control.' The Kundalini, the rising serpent, symbolizes this precise power—of awakening focus, of uncoiling our spiritual energy toward its highest possibility. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Attention as Enlightenment Modern psychology echoes these ancient truths. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, in his seminal work, Flow , observes: "The best moments in life occur when a person's body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile." This is Yog: not relaxation, but immersion. Not escape, but engagement with our highest self. The Lamp That Does Not Flicker A mind trained in yog becomes like a flame in a windless place (6.19)—still, unwavering, full of light. It sees gold, dirt, and stone as equal (6.8), and beholds the Self in all beings and all beings in the Self (6.29). This is not poetic fantasy, but a lived transformation, attainable by persistent practice and joyful detachment. From Self-Help to Selflessness Real yog is not about helping ourselves—but transcending the self. The Gita teaches that the yogi lives in the world but is not of it. He works, sleeps, eats, and interacts in balance (6.17), free from the turbulence of likes and dislikes. He becomes a mirror, not a mask—a presence that reflects love, impartiality, and inner bliss. The Way Forward As we honour Yog on this day, let us honor not just its physical elegance, but its spiritual essence. Let us strive not just to stretch our limbs, but to still our minds, not just to master poses, but to master attention. In a world of noise, the yogi is the silence that sings. In the storm of desires, the yogi is the center that holds. And above all, in a civilization distracted by consumption, the yogi is a reminder that being is enough. Shivoham, Shivoham – I am He, I am He. Not the doer, not the doing, but the undying awareness behind all. Happy International Yoga Day. Midjourney adds AI video generation
AI company Midjourney has released its first video model. This initial take on AI-generated video will allow users to animate their images, either ones made in Midjourney or uploaded from a different source. The initial results will be five-second clips that a user can opt to extend by four seconds up to four times. Videos can be generated on web only for now and require at least a $10 a month subscription to access. Introducing our V1 Video Model. It's fun, easy, and beautiful. Available at 10$/month, it's the first video model for *everyone* and it's available now. — Midjourney (@midjourney) June 18, 2025 Midjourney was one of the early names in the space for AI-generated still images, even as other platforms have pushed the forefront of the discussions around artificial intelligence development. Google's latest I/O conference included several new tools for AI generated video, such as the text-to-video Veo 3 model and a tool for filmmakers called Flow . OpenAI's Sora, which debuted last year, is also a text-to-video option, while the more recent Firefly Video Model from Adobe can create video from a text or image prompt. But being a little late to the video game hasn't stopped it from drawing the ire of creatives who allege that its models were trained illegally. In fact, this video announcement follows hot on the heels of a lawsuit against the company. Disney and NBCUniversal sued Midjourney last week on claims of copyright infringement. And as with any AI tool, there's always a potential for misuse. But Midjourney has nicely asked that people "please use these technologies responsibly" so surely nothing will go wrong.

How to use Google Flow — the new AI video generator made for filmmakers
Producing professional-looking movies is an expensive business but with AI, you can take that story swimming around your head and translate it to the small screen with very little outlay. In fact, fire up Google Flow and you will be amazed at what you can achieve. For proof just take a look at Flow TV where you will see a huge number of entertaining videos, all created using prompts. Looking at those videos will do more than inspire you. They will teach you a thing or two as well. When viewing a video, you can click the Show Prompt button and see exactly what was written – a wonderful way to learn the art of prompt writing and the kind of language that can prove to be effective. With your appetite whetted, you can then get stuck in, and we'll show you how below. Just be aware that it's still experimental so there are some bugs and problems but that's not to say it's not impressive. There's some great tech behind this one: the Veo 3 model which combines the video generator Veo, Gemini's prompting abilities, and Imagen's text-to-image capabilities. Some of the features use Veo 2, however, but it won't detract from the result. A word of warning, though. Flow isn't free. Flow TV won't cost you a bean but if you want to produce your own videos, you must be a Google AI subscriber – either signing up to Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra. The good news is you can get the former free for one month which is a great way of checking out this filmmaking tool. The latter costs $249.99/month and, even with three months half price, it's a princely sum if you're just looking to play around. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Now we're past that, here's how to use Google Flow. Visit flow at and select Create with Flow. To begin, click New Project on the main screen. In time, as you create new projects, you will see them appear on this screen, allowing you to view, resume and edit them but, for now, we're starting from scratch. You will see a prompt box at the bottom of the screen. As it stands, this allows you to enter text that will be used to generate a video. Before you do that, though, click the settings icon in the top-right corner of the box and select the downward arrow in the category Model. Choose Veo 3 – Fast (Text to Video) or choose Veo 3 – Quality. The latter will use up five times as many credits. Then enter text. If a feature isn't compatible with a particular model, Flow will default you to one that is. Now write a prompt, being as descriptive as possible. You can include sound effects, background noise and speech in your descriptions (although speech is only available in the Text to Video mode) so long as you're using Veo 3. The more detail you include the more satisfactory the result is going to be. Click the Arrow when done and be patient. It can take a couple of minutes for the results to appear on screen even if you're using the Fast model. Alternatively, if you click the downward arrow next to Text to Video, you will see different ways of generating video including Frames to Video and Ingredients to Video. The latter is only available to anyone on an AI Ultra subscription plan but given this costs $249 each month, we'll hazard a guess that you won't be using it – suffice to say it allows you to generate individual elements for use in a scene. You can, however, select Frames to Video. In the prompt box, select + (it'll turn into an X if you wish to cancel) and either click generate image or click upload. In each case, the image will be used for the basis of a starting frame. You can create an ending frame if you select the second +. In Frames to Video, you can also select the camera icon to make use of a selection of camera controls (it will turn into an X to cancel) such as dolly in, pan left and so on. When you describe the scene you want, the chosen camera control will be used in the resulting shot. You will see two videos, each eight seconds long, with suitable audio playing in the background. Press Play to see the content of each video. If you hover over a video, you can select Add to scene, using it to start building your film. You can also view it in fullscreen, flag the output if there's something concerning or delete it. There is an option to download it too but it's likely too early to do that. You can now continue creating your film. You may want to enter more text in the prompt box to produce another scene. You will see this scene appear in a timeline (again, it can take a little bit of time). You can click the scene to play it and use a bar to quickly scroll through the footage. You can also click Play to view the entire video so far. If you like the footage you've created but you'd like to expand it with a seamless transition, you can select + to the right of the scene and select Extend. This gives you the opportunity to enter what you would like to happen next within this shot. Flow will assess the last 24 frames and smoothly continue the shot. You can also select + and choose Jump to. With this, you would explain what should happen next and the footage will transition to a new shot but preserve the context from the last frame. You can select Arrange then click, hold and move any shots around the timeline, altering the order in which they will be shown. This feature also lets you select – to remove a shot from the timeline. Select Done when you're finished. If you click a frame, you can drag the handles and reduce the length of that frame or focus on a particular part of it, putting you in greater control. You can now continue producing your masterpiece, editing and adding shots until you're satisfied. When you're done, you can hover over the video and select Download to export the footage in a variety of styles: as a GIF, in original 720p or upscaled to 1080p. You will need to select Download again to save it. Be aware that when you leave the Scenebuilder, it will reset. Your clips and prompts are saved as a Project and they remain intact but you'll have to put it all together again. A Scenebuilder saved state is on its way. And there you go. You now know how to use Flow. But there are other ways to create movies. Learn how to create AI-generated videos with Luma Dream Machine and get hands on with ReelMagic – an AI video tool for creating entire short films from a single prompt. You can also use LTX Studio – we created an AI music video in 30 minutes.

Pixar Announces New Original Movie "Gatto", Unveils First Look & Release Window
Yara Sameh Pixar has announced a new original movie, "Gatto", alongside sharing a first look and a release date for the feline-focused story. The upcoming film hails from the same duo behind Pixar's "Luca" director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren. The pic debuted in 2021 and became a fan favorite thanks to its charming characters and beautiful Italian backdrop. It was the first Pixar movie released exclusively on Disney+ and ultimately became the most-watched streaming film of 2021, accumulating over 10.6 billion minutes of viewership. Since then, Pixar has shifted back to theatrical releases. On Friday, at the Annecy Animation Festival in France, DisneyPixar's Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter announced the new film, "Gatto", which is slated for the summer of 2027. A first-look image was also unveiled, featuring a black cat named Nero carefully stepping down a set of stone stairs in Venice. After "Luca" was set on the Italian Riviera, "Gatto" is returning to Italy, Casarosa's home country, this time setting the story in Venice. There, a black cat named Nero, after spending years navigating the winding streets and canals of the remarkable floating city, starts to wonder if he's made the most of his nine lives. A reluctant music enthusiast with a deep fear of water, Nero owes a debt to a local feline crime boss, which lands him in trouble. Nero's troubles lead him into an unexpected alliance with a spirited street artist named Maya, who decides to adopt him, much to his annoyance. The unlikely duo makes for a mismatched pair, but their bond begins to help Nero discover his true purpose – unless the hidden, more dangerous side of Venice catches up with him first. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Pixar (@pixar) The biggest reveal from the first-look image is the hand-painted visual style, which is something entirely new for Pixar, featuring vibrant Venetian colors and traditional 2D hand-painted textures. By following a feline, Pixar's "Gatto" will inevitably draw comparisons to the 2024 film "Flow" about a cat struggling to survive a flood, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Despite both movies iffer in terms of animation style and story, the similarities between Gatto and Flow are undeniable – they both follow feline protagonists on emotional journeys. However, Pixar seems determined to carve its own path with Gatto, offering a more whimsical yet heartfelt story set in Venice, combined with a hand-painted visual aesthetic never before seen from the studio. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand
