Samsung Galaxy Unpacked likely on July 9: What to expect from foldables

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, where the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Galaxy Watch 8 series are expected to debut, will likely happen in the second week of July. According to a report by 9To5Google, the event is expected to be held on July 9 at 10 am ET (07:30 pm IST). As per the report, the South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer is also expected to preview its Android XR-based Project Moohan headset at the event. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: What to expect Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 soon, promising its thinnest, lightest, and most durable foldable yet. As per a report by 9To5Google, the Z Fold 7 might measure 9mm when folded and 4.54mm when unfolded—significantly slimmer than its predecessor. The Z Fold 7 is also expected to feature deeper Galaxy AI integration, voice-enabled controls, and system-wide enhancements. Samsung's teasers have sparked speculation of an 'Ultra' variant—a first for the Fold series—hinting at a more premium model with advanced capabilities. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: What to expect Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with its in-house Exynos 2500 chip—marking the first time a foldable in the Galaxy Z series may move away from Qualcomm's Snapdragon. According to 9To5Google, this shift would align with Samsung's dual-chip strategy seen in its S-series flagships. Deeper Gemini integration is expected to be applicable with Flip 7, too. As per TomsGuide, the Flip 7 will likely feature software-based camera improvements, a larger 4-inch cover display, and new case designs. The camera hardware may remain unchanged, but upgrades via the ProVisual Engine are expected to enhance image quality. Android Central adds that Samsung could make the folding crease less visible and improve display efficiency by using blue phosphorescent material in the OLED panel. The company may also introduce a more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, offering a budget-friendly option with slightly toned-down specs. While not a major redesign, the Z Flip 7 is shaping up to be a refined update with better performance, usability, and possibly broader accessibility. Samsung Galaxy Watch 8: What to expect Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Watch 8 series will debut with Gemini AI integration and new Samsung Health features, including a vascular load metric and a personal AI health coach. These updates aim to provide real-time insights and personalised guidance to users looking to manage their wellness more proactively. As reported by Android Central, the line-up will include six models, with the Watch 8 Classic expected to sport a squircle design and rotating bezel. The series may continue with the Exynos W1000 chip, 2GB of RAM, and AMOLED displays with up to 2,000 nits brightness. Running on One UI 8 Watch, the new wearables are likely to offer features like adaptive charging, watch face shuffle, and gesture-powered access to the Now Bar. Health tracking will remain a core focus, with support for the antioxidant index and other advanced metrics via Samsung's upgraded BioActive Sensor. Blood glucose monitoring, while in development, may not yet be ready for this generation. What is Project Moohan? Samsung unveiled its Project Moohan headset at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, confirming that the device will feature multimodal AI for natural voice and visual interactions. While full details remain under wraps, The Elec reports it will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 chip and include 1.3-inch 4K OLEDoS displays by Sony with a sharp 3,800ppi pixel density. It is also expected to support pass-through viewing, akin to Apple's Vision Pro. Running on Android XR, the headset will allow access to mobile apps via the Play Store and feature Google-optimised experiences like YouTube, Google Maps, and 3D Google Photos. A key highlight is its deep Gemini AI integration, enabling real-time assistance, contextual controls, and AI-powered workflows—all designed to position Project Moohan as a versatile, next-gen XR device.

Mark your calendars: Samsung Galaxy Unpacked date leaks

Jonathan Feist / Android Authority TL;DR Last year Samsung introduced the Flip 6 and Fold 6 on July 10. For this year's launch, rumors have suggested Samsung could repeat that July 10 date. Now Evan Blass instead points to July 9 for the next Unpacked. Depending on how you count it, summer is either already upon us, or just about to start in the next few days (or you live in the Southern Hemisphere, granted). And for mobile tech fans, we know by now that summer means a fresh batch of new Samsung launches on their way. We've been hearing about the possibility of some July dates for Samsung's next Unpacked event, and now a new source weighs in with some specifics. Right now, we've got plenty of in-development Samsung hardware we're looking forward to. On the phone front, Samsung's been teasing its next wave of foldables, and beyond the Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip 7, we could also get to meet Samsung's first foldable built to be a little more affordable in the form of the Flip 7 FE. Then we've got Samsung's next wearables, with a new look for the Galaxy Watch 8 series expected to make its debut. We've also spotted evidence for some new Galaxy Buds models under development, and if those are ready to go, it would make all the sense in the world for Samsung to introduce them here. Last year Samsung threw its big summer launch on July 10, and that's a possibility once again. But so far we've only really heard that theory as bit of a vague 'doing the same thing' notion. Today, on the other hand, we're looking at a source who has some actual details. Noted leaker Evan Blass posts to X that Samsung will host its next Unpacked event on July 9, instead. Blass adds to that a 10AM Eastern start time, and while he doesn't share any visual assets to back that up, the extra detail does make it sound like this is less of a guess, and more something that might be based on actually seeing specific launch information. Of course, if any of these dates end up proving accurate, we'll likely know pretty soon, as Samsung tends to either confirm Unpacked plans itself in the weeks leading up to one, or we'd see formal invitations start leaking online. We might pencil in this July 9 date for the time being, but one way or the other, we should be writing down something in ink very soon. Got a tip? Talk to us! Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 tipped to 'fully adopt' Exynos chip — and that could have a huge impact on Galaxy S26

Every major Samsung phone launch seems to be preceded by the same debate — Snapdragon or Exynos? — as rumors circulate about which chipset the phone maker plans to use in its latest device. Inevitably, Qualcomm's Snapdragon silicon tends to get the call, but that might be changing with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which we're expecting to launch next month. A new report from Korean publication, DealSite (translated by leaker Jukanlosreve) claims that Samsung will "fully equip" the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with a "proprietary mobile application processor (AP), Exynos 2500." This means that every Flip 7 across the world could potentially feature an Exynos system-on-chip. If true, the report would contradict a previous claim that Samsung had decided to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy Z Flip 7 models released in the U.S. while other models would feature the Exynos silicon. Outside of Asia, most Samsung phones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Countries like India and Korea often get mixed devices with some higher-end phones feature Qualcomm while slightly weaker ones have an Exynos chip. However, for years it's been rumored that Samsung wants to power global models with its own chip. Allegedly, the yield rate for the 2500 processor is at 30%, half of what it usually needs for mass production. The chip is based on a 3nm process, similar to what you would expect form Qualcomm or TSMC's current production of Apple chips. "I understand that there are plans to adopt Exynos as the AP for the entire Flip7 series. Although there was internal debate due to the low yield, the direction is ultimately leaning towards full adoption despite the low yield," an industry insider reportedly told DealSite. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. According to the report, Samsung will release the book-style foldable Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a "mix of Exynos and Snapdragon." Qualcomm's chips have gotten more expensive, which may partially explain price increases for Samsung's recent phones. The Galaxy Z Flip 6, powered by a then-top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, saw a $100 price hike over its predecessor, bringing the starting price of Samsung's foldable flip phone to $1,099. It's unclear if turning to an Exynos chip would help Samsung lower the price of its new foldable — or simply maintain the existing $1,099 price tag amid rising costs for other components. It appears, the Flip 7 could be an experiment for Samsung. If it's successful, despite the current low yield, it could help Samsung negotiate with Qualcomm and find new customers looking for potentially cheaper chips. The report claims that Samsung's foundries are also working on an Exynos 2600 SoC based on a 2nm process that could potentially slot into the Galaxy S26 flagship next year. Though allegedly, the yield rate for that chip is even less than the 2500. This does align with previous rumors claiming that the Galaxy S26 could get an Exynos chip. Still, as mentioned at the top, these rumors continually crop up and keep not being true. It's clear Samsung wants to put its own chip in its phones in a bigger fashion, but the company has also failed to do so. We'll know for sure if the Z Flip 7 features an Exynos or Qualcomm chip in July when Samsung is expected to debut its next round of foldable phones.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, Flip7 and Watch8 series bag more certifications

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold7, Flip7, and Watch8 series in early or mid-July at a special Unpacked event in New York, and ahead of that all of these devices have been doing the certifications dance. It's no different today, with the foldables receiving the SafetyKorea certification and the wearables showing up at the GCF. Unsurprisingly, SafetyKorea has certified the models that are headed to the country - the SM-F966N (Galaxy Z Fold7) and SM-F766N (Galaxy Z Flip7). That "N" suffix is what tells us these are the Korean versions of the devices. Meanwhile, both the Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic have been certified by the GCF, with the respective model numbers: SM-L335F and SM-L505F. None of these certifications have confirmed any of these devices' specs, unfortunately. That said, there have already been many leaks about them, and Samsung has even started a teaser campaign for the Fold7, hyping up its slimness and camera prowess. The watches will adopt a squircle case design this year, in line with what was pioneered by the Galaxy Watch Ultra in 2024 (the screens remain round, however). Via

Rooftop gaming: Delhi's board gamers find their haven at Got Board in Paschim Vihar

Under fairy lights and fronds of tropical plants, players lean over boards filled with tokens, maps, and colour-coded coins. This is Got Board, a rooftop in Ankit Pal's Paschim Vihar residence, where the 35-year-old has transformed his terrace into a board-gaming sanctuary. Every weekend, strangers and friends gather to roll dice, build cities, form alliances, and huff their way to victory — beating Delhi's sweltering summer under a canopy of greenery and gentle rooftop breezes. With over 400 modern board games in his possession, Pal considers Got Board as a game library open to enthusiasts across the city. His collection includes beginner-friendly titles like Azul and Splendor, party games like Where's My Hat and Flip 7, mechanised Eurogames like CATAN, and Clans of Caledonia and games by Indian designers such as Tess. He hosts three weekend slots, each five hours, for a modest `200. For him, it's not a business but a space to nurture hobbies and build a community of serious board gamers. 'Here you learn the games we'll play — and if you want to try something specific, we can learn together,' he says. 'You have the option to explore the hobby on your own.' Pal's journey began as a child with Business and Ludo. In 2010, a college friend introduced him to the world of board gaming with Saboteur, a hidden-identity game of miners and saboteurs. 'We played aggressively. Six times a day, for two hours,' he laughs. In the past three years alone, he's added nearly 300 games — collecting as many as 100 titles' worth every year.
