'Mayele does not want to come to Kaizer Chiefs anymore'

After months of speculation, it seems Fiston Mayele might not join Kaizer Chiefs after all. The 30-year-old is set to leave Pyramids for Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks. Mayele's 'brother' and fellow Congolese Christian Bukasa told KickOff that the striker is no longer interested in playing in South Africa after winning the Caf Champions League. 'He doesn't want South Africa anymore, so I'm surprised that Mayele is still being linked to Chiefs up to now,' he told KickOff. 'When Mayele wanted to come to South Africa, Chiefs turned us down and we moved on. The truth is that while at Yanga, he wanted to come to South Africa, but he was told about age, money, and so felt discouraged. 'He will not even come to Mamelodi Sundowns because the PSL chapter is gone. He now needs to make money and will move to Saudi Arabia, where his salary will be tripled before all other bonuses. We are talking proper money,' Bukasa continued. 'At his age, he needs to make money for himself and his family, and the best destination for him next is Saudi Arabia, where talks are already ongoing with clubs there. 'What is the reason for coming to South Africa for less money now, when there is so much more for him in Saudi Arabia. He told me that he will only come here during the holidays to listen to 'Amapiano' and not to play soccer. For soccer, all the teams must forget, and this is the truth. 'In Africa, besides Pyramids, he can only play for Al Ahly,' he said. With Mayele set to leave for Saudi, Chiefs should start looking for a striker. Orlando Pirates news: Maswanganyi, Moremi, Saleng, Mayele

Orlando Pirates have moved swiftly to secure several players ahead of next season — but their offseason plans are just getting started. AmaZulu star Tshepang Moremi is arguably on top of the Buccaneers' shopping list, but they face competition from Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, meaning securing his services will be no easy feat. Congolese international Fiston Mayele is another target of theirs. However, the club is said to have backed out of the race after his price tag exceeded R70 million. Early into the 2024/25 season, it was reported that former PSL Player of the Year Patrick Maswanganyi was eager to move to Europe. However, the current offseason has provided no updates on this potential transfer. 'He [Maswanganyi] is ready for Europe,' said his former mentor Farouk Khan. 'Even himself as a player, he really wants to play there. You know if Orlando Pirates can allow him to go then it won't benefit only Pirates from the sale but also the player himself and the country. He could have stayed longer in Portugal, but he was impatient that time, 'You know many players from Brazil, Argentina, and most other African countries use Portugal as a springboard to bigger leagues in Europe and he could have been patient then things could have worked out for him that time. But nothing is lost. He can still go now and make it big. He is ready for Europe.' Monnapule Saleng seems certain for an exit this winter having not played in the PSL since last November. However, the player has received little interest at this moment in time. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
