As of this morning, we knew that tonight's (June 13) episode of SmackDown would feature opening round matches in the King & Queen of the Ring tournaments, but we didn't exactly know which ones. That has been clarified, as WWE is now listing the following three tournament matches for the show: Cody Rhodes vs. Damian Priest vs. Andrade vs. Shinsuke Nakamura Randy Orton vs. LA Knight vs. Aleister Black vs. Carmelo Hayes Charlotte Flair vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Candice LeRae vs. Chelsea Green This is Cody's first match on Raw or SmackDown programming (excluding dark matches) since February, per the data at CageMatch. It also means that Randy Orton is back on SmackDown tonight for the first time since he lost against John Cena at Backlash in early May. Advertisement Speaking of Cena, WWE is advertising him for the show too, along with United States Champion Jacob Fatu and Money in the Bank contract winner Naomi. In addition to the above information that's been officially announced by WWE, Fightful Select is reporting that Kiana James is backstage at SmackDown today. She last wrestled in WWE on a June 2024 episode of Raw, and was reportedly on the sidelines after that due to a leg injury. That she is backstage at SmackDown today doesn't guarantee she will be featured on TV, but it's at least a possibility. Bronson Reed joining Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Paul Heyman's faction was a late decision, per Fightful, as original plans didn't include anyone else joining the group. Fightful Select has confirmed Chelsea Green's broken nose is legitimate. The Daily Update says they don't expect her off TV at all, however, as it was a 'clean break.' They also say Liv Morgan is being factored into creative plans for Raw already and she could be back as soon as this week's show. The WON says there was talk of using 'JC Matanza' for Jeff Cobb's new name in WWE as an inside reference to Lucha Underground but he apparently didn't like the name so they went with JC Mateo instead. The Observer says Ace Austin, whose TNA contract is expiring, was offered a new deal but turned it down to 'get into a larger company.'
